It's been rough lately. Ever since she'd fled from the Cycling Road fiasco, Eris has had nothing but worries on her mind, restless in both waking and sleep as her thoughts swirl and churn. Had the message she'd left with her Rotom ever reached Chu-e Choi? Was he even worried about her disappearing for days on end long after Wright had made his way back to base after the excursion? In a moment of sheer panic and haste, she had written a promise that she would be safe and back home soon but after all the time she had spent travelling to Lilycove, she had been exhausted.

It hadn't helped much that the memories had begun to leak through the cracks again.

Cue Razz and his wonderful Meowstic duo. Despite knowing her allegiances, he hadn't let her simply float out to sea, taking her in and providing her a safe space to reside in whilst she recovered. It was through him that she had even gathered the courage to step out beyond the reaches of his home, disguising herself with a little help and following him all the way out to the odd tournament happening in Slateport.

In truth, she's a little excited for this adventure, a little frightened for what lays ahead but somewhat prepared to face any troubles head on. Reaching into her pockets, she calls out two of her trusty companions, Thalassa and Fizz onto the scene, her eyes carefully watching her opponent as she offers him a soft smile.

Razz will just give his new roommate a chuckle as she wants him to do his best. Honestly it wasn't why he was here, this was meant to be a 'fun' event and while he wasn't one for battles. But this was a good way for training, and since Eris was now living with him having her have some fun to ignore the past few days. Seeing her choices he decides to go with the same theme calling out one electric and one water. [break][break]

"Show me what you can do," he smiles at her and allows her the first move against his Froakie and Raichu. The Froakie was new so wasn't expecting much, but this was the best time to train him up.[break][break]

How her eyes sparkle at the sight of the Raichu, its soft ears and fluffy look tempting her to just reach out and hug it... Would Inari evolve into an Alolan Raichu too? She was still in her infant years but had most certainly shown an affinity for the beach and the vast ocean.

"We'll try our best!" Eris chirps, whistling gently as Thalassa hops about. The sky begins to darken and the sea seems to whistle along, providing the melody for a Rain Dance as the clouds break and pour. Fizz, on the other hand, takes the vanguard in leading the attack, swooping in for Froakie with a show of Acrobatics as Thalassa launches an Aqua Jet at Raichu.

Razz raised a brow at the way she gave her orders, curious. "Smokescreen," he'd order before giving a whistle, allow him more chances to get used to his whistles when combined to an attack. From there the Froakie would do just that releasing a black smog as the flying squirrel came at him. Though it seems that he would forget to use the cover to try and avoid the attack. They were no Royal that's for sure. [break][break]

Though at least the Raichu had more experience and used the cover in order to avoid the Aqua Jet. Being right above the water pokemon in order to avoid the attack it would come down to SLAM down on the Floatzel.[break][break]

The field evaporates into a cloud of smoke, her line of sight obscured as she listens intently to the chaos unfolding. From within the smog, she hears the signal, two sharp clicks from Thalassa and a trilling chitter from Fizz.

Almost immediately, she whistles again, a low note quickly turning into a high one as her Floatzel lets out a small yelp. Even after taking a direct hit, Thalassa is already taking steps to counter, twisting her body just slightly and aiming for a Hydro Pump straight to Raichu's face. Fizz on the other hand, takes the chance of landing his attack to get in close and Nuzzle the Froakie in all but a friendly gesture.

Froakie grunts at the electricity going through his body now paralyzed by the Nuzzle but also hurt by the move a tad more than normal seeing as there was a clear type disadvantage. They should quickly switch opponents soon. Though part of his pride made him want to keep going. Two quick whistles and he knew what to do at least. The water frog fighting through the paralysis to use SMACK DOWN on the Emolga before it would go toward his partner. [break][break]

Raichu is knocked back by the Hydro Pump before Razz gives a whistle with a click. with the use of PSYCHIC the alolan Raichu would take control of the Hydro Pump and attempt to aim it at the Emolga. [break][break]

There's a bittersweet fondness that swells in her chest when she talks about her mother - A brilliant researcher who had held so much love for the mysteries that the gods had kept. Eris remembers getting her ass kicked in blooming flower fields as whistles and clicks had to be rapidly deciphered on top of keeping focus on the battlefield...

Sometimes, she wishes she had finished listening to her mother's entire collection of commands.

With Froakie somewhat paralysed by the attack, Fizz is less than prepared for the Smack Down he receives, a quiet squeak escaping him as he bounces right off the ground. On the other hand, Thalassa seems more in control of her matchup, unshaken by the appearance of a paralysed Froakie as she continues to blast Raichu. It is only when she notices the odd movements that she stops, chattering loudly as Eris listens.

A long, fluttering whistle - If it's a change of opponents they want, then it's a change of opponents they get. With Thalassa's help, Fizz narrowly avoids the friendly fire, getting back up into the air and using Double Team to disorientate their opponents. The Floatzel on the other hand begins to create small currents of wind with a swish of her tail, keeping out of reach as the cooling rain urges her to move faster.

"That's an interesting method, but does help it be more unique to you," he comments about her mother's methods. "When I was taught we had the commands kept similar, this way if we lent out pokemon to someone they would know what to do still." [break][break]

Mean while he watches his, curious he gives a whistle at Froakie to even see if he was able to move. The frog tries and sadly it can't. Figures luck wouldn't be on their side. So he gives another whistle at a different pitch. Rather than abandons their team mate they would cast LIGHT SCREEN to protect the both of them. [break][break]

"Yeah... my mother trained me mostly when it came to battles... she was... not a kind woman," he doesn't even bother to mention the other who helped trained him. As there was way too much that made his past troublesome.

"Momma always said that each set is like a key that bonds you and your pokemon. Letting others have it is forcing your pokemon to make a decision on who to follow... and she wasn't happy with stressing her team." The uniqueness of her commands is something she both takes pride in and despises, for it tells of a mother's wish for her independence and separates their paths forevermore. But in a sense, she had understood her mother's intentions very well, to get her and her pokemon to grow closer than ever before, ensuring that she would never be alone even if their world were to come to a stop.

At the mention of Razz's parents though, Eris knows that she's overstepped with her questions, her attention briefly flicking over to him before switching back to the fight. With Froakie and Raichu playing defense, she clicks her tongue, shifting her foot just slightly when Fizz spares her a glance.

The Emolga and his multiple illusions swoop in towards the duo but just before he makes contact, he pulls up sharply, clearing the way as Thalassa fires a round of Razor Winds at them. The attack connects with the Light Screen, partially dispersing against the mighty barrier but they aren't done yet. Swooping in once more, Fizz bristles with an electrical charge, divebombing the Raichu with a grand Spark.

"That's fair, I can see where your mother is coming from," beside in his situation learning similar commands was key as in case you ended up being out someone could easily take your place. Though he wasn't going to tell Eris that. [break][break]

Thankfully the light screen is able to catch the RAZOR WIND, as once more Froakie finds it impossible to move. There is an attempt but static takes hold making it so they're forced to rely on Raichu some more. Thankfully its the electric attack that comes as she doesn't take anywhere near as much damage. The alolan raichu decides on its own to counter with THUNDER BOLT against the Emolga. [break][break]

It's easy to blind yourself to the cruelty of the world around you, especially if you've witnessed it yourself. It doesn't take many brain cells for her mind to come up with theories - To take over when one defects from Rocket, to reclaim the pokemon for the sake of the organisation. Once you become a gear in the machine, your companions are considered a privilege and your freedom is restricted by a leash.

But Eris will be damned before she lets herself get bound by lies and deceit.
[break][break]
Instead of whistles and clicks, Eris doesn't quite seem to give any instructions to her pokemon, instead swaying gently on her feet as she watches Fizz crash into the Raichu with a light wince. It is here that the poor Emolga takes a Thunder Bolt to the face, crashing to the ground as Thalassa launches into a Pursuit for the Raichu.

When Fizz recovers just enough to shoot her a look, Eris tilts her head, flicking her index finger to the sky - A secondary command that's barely used without reason. Whilst she'd honestly rather the Emolga withdraw from the battle, she knows better than to tell such a prideful soul to concede. So she allows him to take charge, a quiet chitter resonating from his chest as he dares to chase the Froakie once more with Acrobatics.

The pursuit hits hard, and Razz can easily tell they won’t be winning this. Yet she says to not give up. Salem seems to give an encouraging yell to his pokemon since he himself wasn’t really doing so. Though Raichu recovers after being hit Froakie isn’t given the same pleasure as the Acrobatic hits knocking the small frog out. ”You sure about that seems pretty over to me,” there is a small chuckle there but he looks to Raichu, ”You willing to keep on trying?” he ask her after all he was doing this mostly for his Pokémon’s interest, not his own. [break][break]

Sparks fly from Raichu’s cheeks though, not interested in giving up despite it now being two on one. She gets back onto her tail board and spins creating an electro ball to send back at the water pokemon, coming up with the idea herself rather than following her trainer’s lead.

Just as humans can be stubborn, so can pokemon. As Fizz downs the Froakie and Thalassa hits the Raichu, it seems that Raichu isn't quite ready to call it quits. And in turn, Thalassa accepts the challenge with a raucous clicking, clearly communicating for the Emolga to stay out of this little dance meant for two.

With the Electro Ball flying right at her, the Floatzel draws in a deep breath and takes the shot with a wince, aiming a strong Hydro Pump at her adversary in hopes of getting a final laugh. It's clear that the Slam still stings from earlier but unlike the weary Fizz, Thalassa is by no means ready to go down and Eris knows this, wholeheartedly cheering as she watches from the sidelines.

Whilst the duo are busy, Fizz carefully nudges the Froakie, carrying it out of harm's way and placing up a Light Screen for any stray shots before offering a cheer of his own.
