Lex pursed her lips, peering from behind dark sunglasses at the boy across the battle field. She hadn’t seen him around before despite him being part of Rocket. Of course, Lex didn’t really hang out with a lot of her colleagues. Still, she offered the boy a smile, “Hello there!” she even offered a small wave from across the field, “I’m Lex,” A pokeball drifted from her hand, cracking open to materialize a perky Clefable. Lex had participated in quite a number of battles so far and her pool of pokemon was starting to run thin. This was one that she swiped from one of Hoenn’s many swarms. Honestly, she ahd yet to see if this pokemon was worth the trouble she put in to grabbing it.

“Ready to start when you are,” she sent the Clefable out into the field and the pokemon readied itself for battle.

The DROUGHT intensified the heat of the sun. Lex could feel it prickling at her fair skin. It would aid the fire-type in battle, but Clefable was protected against feeling the burn thanks to her MAGIC GUARD, if it came to that. Regardless, it would be difficult. Lex hoped the Clefable held up long enough against the Torkoal to be impressive. If not, then it would be thrown into some pretty heavy and ruthless training. The thief didn’t have room for weakness, not anymore.

A HEAT WAVE burst from the Torkoal as a blistering wave of searing energy. Luckily for Clefable, she had a pretty good speed advantage on the Torkoal. However, not nearly as quick as the pokemon Lex normally uses for battle. Speed was the thief’s main strategy, so working with a Clefable was going to be challenging. The Fairy-type, somehow, managed to leap to the side with a gleeful coo, letting the attack fizzle out into the air.

“Alright, let’s see what you can cook up,” The Clefable nodded, starting it’s METRONOME by swaying side to side. Its fingers soon follow suit, a perpetual smile pinching her cheeks. The concentrated energy manifested as a SLAM. The Clefable was catapulted forward by an unknown force along with a cheerful cry that sounded like “WEEEEE!”. The pokemon’s curled tail unfurled and grew in length, glowing a brilliant white. With a quick pivot, the tail aimed to SLAM into the Torkoal.

Retaliates with METRONOME (Slam)

Luckily, the move that Clefable is able to cook up is something useful. With Metronome, there is always the chance of the energy manifesting as a something, well, useless. It’s a risk Lex is willing to take in favor of busting out a big, powerful move. Slam is somewhere in between – not fantastic but not terrible. Clefable seems to enjoy it as she catapults forward with an enthusiastic squeal.

The Torkoal is knocked back while hidden in its shell. Clefable seems pleased with her attack. It doesn’t last long. The fire-type launches itself back at the fairy type in a RAPID SPIN. Clefable attempts to jump to the side again but she’s too slow to beat this attack. The edge of the Torkoal’s shell catches her side and she’s sent spinning off into the sand.

Planted face first into hot sand doesn’t feel too great. It take a beat for the Clefable to get back to her small feet. There’s an uncharacteristic scowl on her lips when she rises to face the Torkoal again. Vengeance, maybe? Lex is honestly surprised the little fairy type has it in her.

Clefable was planning on pulling out the big guns towards the end, but that smack pushed her there quicker than she thought. Both small hands rise to the sky as an eerie, extraterrestrial power gathers above them. The bright sun still burns through the vortex of dark energy, shining like stars, as threatens to tear down from the heavens onto her opponent.

Clefable frowns as she watches the Smokescreen obscure her vision of the Torkoal. She’s committed to the Meteor Beam, so she sees it through. Regardless, the shock of the attack will likely resonate through the immediate area.

Once the energy is gathered, the pastel pokemon pushes her palms forward. The energy follows, blasting down from above like a sparkling comet tail. It meets the dark Smokescreen, tearing through it like the sun does a thick fog. The smoke curls like a tidal wave from the impact, rolling over itself and dissipating as it is dispersed. The blast from the attacks power creates its own crater beside the Torkoal’s carvings in the sand.

Her hands lower to her side, she watches the smoke, curious as to whether she is successful or not.

She strikes with Meteor Beam

A miss?! (Mostly)

The Clefable fumes, tensing and clenching its small fists as the Torkoal spins and disappears back into whatever is left of the Smokescreen after the blast. It’s a strange, uncharacteristic rage that grips the pink pokemon. A combination of a desire to prove itself along with a primal need for superiority dries it forward.

Torkoal lunges, cantering forward with a Body Slam. Clefable can see it coming, parting the thick smoke like a rock against a wave of water. It’s enough time for the angry fairy-type to dodge. She leaps, landing with surprising grace to the side of the Torkoal. Her fingers wag again, a strange green energy surrounding her before a wave of skittering bugs erupt from the sand, looking to INFEST the Torkoal.

Metronome manifests as INFESTATION!

This Torkoal is really starting to piss this particularly violent Clefable off. Eruption pours form it’s shell and an AROMATHERAPY pours from the fairy pokemon’s palms, combating the scorching heat that threatens to burn her little bugs alive. Perhaps some of them would survive with the help of the healing mist.

Concentrated on helping her little gremlins, she doesn’t have the speed to dodge the Headbutt. It takes her breath way, striking her right in the chest and pushing her back. AROMATHERAPY dissipates. A sharp breath returns the hot air to her lungs. She pushes herself to her feet and raises a hand. Fae energy gathers above before the MOONBLAST fire down at the Torkoal from above.

The powered up HEAT WAVE scorches her pink fur. The leftover AROMATHERAPY helps dull the burn but it strikes, and strikes hard, nonetheless. She’s forced back, her lungs burning for air but all they find is a searing heat. Her resilience is surprising. Another hand stretches up towards the sky. This time the moon sparkles bright. A strange energy floats down, flowing through her and healing her wounds. A devilish grin crosses her features. How’s the Torkoal’s endurance? She can go all night.
