What he saw rustling around in the bush was a small fletchling. He considered passing it up, but decided against it. Taking out a safari ball, he let his larvitar loose. A few promising manuvers were given by the bird, but ultimately the type difference won the larvitar the battle and sam rummaged until he could find a decent matching ball to capture the bird in.

It as after the successful capture that he returned the larvitar and just about then that new individual made his way up. He acknowledged the other with a small brow raise and then walked to the newly captured pokémon, sending it to his personal computer.

"I'm afraid I haven't. I'm searching for eevees myself. Any luck for you on that front?"

He admired the espeon on the man's shoulder. The dragon type admittedly intimidated Sam enough that his shoulders tensed. But they were not wild, so he reminded himself not to be terribly worried.

It was a better idea. The more the merrier in that sense. So Sam agreed with a small polite smile.

"Alright, I agree. If I find a rattata, I'll let you know immediately." With that, he extended his hand to hand the man his business card.

"I'm Sam Carter, the new caretaker of Mt. Pyre. My Trainer ID, in case you need to get ahold of me for anything, or if we get separated."

Yes, even after this, Sam had every intention to keep his eyes open for rattatas and would forever send them to this man.

Just then, a tuft of white fur caught Sam's eye. Because eevees were notorius for hiding in brush and being playful, or skiddish because of their tendency to run away, he threw out his larvitar once again-- closest pokéball. As the larvitar locked eyes with the fur, a point from Sam telling her that was the right target, she let loose a rock slide and Sam tossed a ball to attempt a capture.

His attention was back on the fellow, waiting for an introduction while the larvitar approached the pokéball with caution.

The absol captured, he looks over the ball in his hands for a moment. There's something about the absol's energy that has Sam noting to take the absol into silent consideration, even if it isn't a dual type.

The ID in his hand is then studied. Mostly so he can memorize the name to recall it quickly enough during conversation. Which oddly strikes quicker than he assumed it would.

Sam ignores the sound of a bisharp sharpening its claws and the cooing of an unfezant to answer Domonick's question.

"A month ago." The answer is given quickly enough. "The previous caretaker was looking to retire after his thirty four years of service to Mt. Pyre."

Arceus help his wife now, cause he was bound to be a hassle.

"What line of work are you in?"

The idea that he 'hadn't been doing it long' made Sam smile. No, he hadn't been a caretaker by himself for very long and he now understood why his mother always called him a life saver. Seriously, he should be putting out advertisements for people to begin making jobs. Thanks to oscar clayton's endorsement into Mt. Pyre, the grounds weren't aching for funds and they were able to be well kept.

He'd have to reach out to somebody like FERNANDO SILPH to get any sort of funding for job opportunities, though. Anything steady was nearly out of the question. He'd pulled a great deal for his own savings over the years to pay for himself, let alone another employee to help handle the load.

"I helped my mother manage the Pokémon Tower over in Kanto." He glanced at a skitty rummaging for berries, and a deino that seemed to be too distracted by chasing a purloin to be bothered with. A dual type like that certainly was tempting, though... and it had Sam moving to his waist for a park ball. "Excuse me a moment, it's rare to see these beasts outside of their caves."

Upon being released, the dratini gave a small yawn.

"The deino, if you don't mind. Dragon dance to begin, then catch it off guard with a dragon rush."

the dratini gave a curl and a twirl, his body twisting in a beautiful dance on his way over toward the deino. He seemed to get her attention, causing her to turn and almost immediately use a DRAGON PULSE. Sam's dratini gave a cry before using his own DRAGON RUSH to close the distance between them.

Sam wasn't too far behind, a dusk ball to attempt the capture.
