[attr="class","matias"]her home reminds him of his in kanto. he closes the door behind him kicking off his shoes off to the side as he glances around the space, taking it in for what it likely is: just a place to sleep.

matias mirrors her small smile and nods before she disappears up the stairs, leaving him to get acquainted to the unfamiliar space. he lingers by the door for moments, contemplating, before he starts walking around, cautious not to overstep boundaries, but curious enough to look and observe.

by the time she comes back down, he's over by the fridge in the kitchen. he closes the door to the fridge, holding up two bottles of water.

"thought you might be thirsty."

Eva spends some time gathering a few things she’ll need for bandaging up her wound. That doesn’t take too long. She decides to change quickly while she’s upstairs. She discards the charred top for a flannel that unbuttons enough to bandage the necessary area and a pair of shorts.

Eventually, she reappears with an armful of supplies: some ointment, gauze, bandage, and tape. The plethora of supplies are scattered across the kitchen counter before she reaches out for the bottle of water, “Thanks,” she smiles, taking the bottle to crack open and take a swig. With a deep breath she sets it down, surprised at how thirsty she actually was when she thought about it. The aches and pain made it a bit harder to cope. Naturally, she gravitates towards the bottles in the dining room. A bad habit that has extended past Kanto days, “I’m gonna need something a little stronger,” she admits with a nervous laugh. It’s not that she needs the whiskey, it just makes it a bit a bit easier to relax. He’d understand.

he does understand. he downs about half the bottle of water, sets it back down, and takes a step over to sift through the supplies. he picks out what's familiar, what's needed, and waits for her to return.

it's only then that he realizes how numb his arm still feels. adrenaline's long faded, leaving him to deal with the familial pain. he'll have to tend to it, too.

The bottle settles on the kitchen counter with a soft thunk. She nods, moving towards the cabinet to draw out two rocks glasses. She fills them both with two fingers worth of whiskey and slides one over to him. Naturally, she judges what he’s chosen is important in the supplies with a playful grin. They all were. She wouldn’t bring anything unnecessary, that would just be silly.

Of course, she worries about him. Her gaze drifts down to his arm, “How’s it feelin?” she takes a healthy sip of whiskey, motioning towards his injured arm.

the glass finds his lips, glass tilting back before he swallows a decent amount of whiskey. he relishes in its familiarity, in how warmth spreads. he sets it back down as she motions ot his arm.

"it's fine for now, i think."

it's funny: despite having fought for years, his knowledge over basic first aid remains poor. passable at best. he quickly glances over the supplies before reaching for ointment.

"this first, right?"

Warmth that trickles down her throat spreads through her chest. In a way it unnatural in the calm it brings. Seeing him mirror the gesture makes it more bearable. She smiles behind the bite, examining his arm from a distance. Sure, it seemed fine for now. She’d keep a close eye on it.

”Almost,” she grins, moving towards the pile to pick out a set of antiseptic wipes. Even though it wasn’t too dirty of a wound, cleaning is always the first step, “Gently,” she emphasizes, all too aware of how sensitive it may be.

[attr="class","matias"]nodding, he reaches for the set of antiseptic wipes, sliding it closer to him. he shifts in his seat, leaning closer as his hand reaches towards her chest.

"hold still."

his voice is surprisingly soft as his fingers graze against flannel, gently unbuttoning. his eyes trail down, lingering for moments before he reaches for the antiseptic wipes. he tears one open, holds it between fingers, and starts gently dabbing at her wound.

She purses her lips, looking away and taking another sip of whiskey. It’s easier that way. She doesn’t move and holds still as requested. There’s a moment at first when the sharp sting of the solution makes her lips curl in response to the pain. Still, she doesn’t move, fixating her gaze on anything else but him or the wound.

If she was treating someone else, she would have gone longer, but being the hypocrite she is, she stops him short, “That’s enough,” An involuntary, defensive instinct moves her hand up to grip his wrist, stopping him from continuing. It’s something she doesn’t even realize until after the fact when her fingers slowly uncurl, ”Sorry,” she’s not use to being the one on the receiving end, ”You can use the ointment now.”

[attr="class","matias"]no resistance comes when he feels her sudden grip around his wrist. he simply holds still, leaning back a little to search for her gaze. when she releases her grip, he exhales out of instinct, then drops the wipe on the counter before reaching for the ointment.

he pauses for a moment to ask:

"you okay?"

he'll allow her the distraction regardless. he squeezes out a bit of ointment into the palm of his hand, dabs two fingers in it, and reaches over to gently spread it across her wound, careful with his touch.

Eva’s hand sinks to her side, tucking itself away behind her back. She lets her gaze wander back to him when he looks away to concentrate on the ointment, “Yea, I’m fine,” she begins, then after a moment, continues. She’s honest, like she always has been with him, “I’m just not use to being the patient,” a small laugh follows. Her gaze floats back to him and her chest, “You’re doing an excellent job, doctor,” she teases as he finished coating the wound with ointment. A free hand has already pushed the gauze and bandaging tapes towards him, “Doesn’t have to be a fancy bandage, just enough to protect it from the shirt will do,” she’ll likely have to change it in the morning anyway.

a small laugh escapes him, too, their roles now swapped. he's oddly focused, perhaps mindful not to press too hard or rough. his lips curl into a grin at her tease. he feels warm after, though he's unsure what from. the whiskey, most likely.

when he's finished, he reaches over for the gauze, presses it gently against her wound, then begins to enclose it with the tape. a moment passes before he's setting the supplies back down on the counter.

he remains close, voice still soft.

"all good, miss morales?"

This isn’t the first time, and likely won’t be the last, she’s needed to be patched up. This could have easily been done by herself in her bathroom mirror but she’s glad she didn’t. It’s not often she gets taken care of and sometimes it feels nice to embrace that, no matter how simple.

When he finishes, she cranes her neck down to try and take a peek. She can catch the bottom edge of the bandage. A finger slowly traces a line around its edges, “Feels good to me, doctor Silph,” she speaks softly as well, looking back up at him with a smile, “Thank you.”

[attr="class","matias"]being this close to her, he can practically feel the warmth of her breath. it rolls off his skin, curling his lips into a smile that mirrors hers.

he meets her gaze and though he had intended to step away, he decides not to. he stays close, entertaining desires that he had kept dormant for so long.

a gentle hand reaches up to caress her cheek, brushing strands of blonde hair away as he whispers:

"i'm just doing my job."
