On Melody's side of the field a ball of light shoots into the air as Leavanny dashes forward and up towards it to try and spike the back down towards Jayden's team as Melody finally comes to her conclusion. "I never really ever liked that question if im being honest. Who am I to judge someone ya know?" she says [break][break]

"But my only tip, if I had to give one, is to find the right partner? My whole thing is finding Pokémon who work for you and giving them the love and care they deserve? Pokemon are willing to die for their trainers so it's only right." she continues after a small pause. [break][break]

"Sorry if it isn't that helpful, for what it's worth im not entirely sure if you even need the tip since you seem to already be in sync with your Pokémon and they work together pretty well." She comments with a small giggle.

[break][break] what..? wasn't she the sootopolis gym leader? or was he mistaken. jayden blinks in confusion as the other speaks, biting his lip to prevent himself from blurting out something he might regret. ah. perhaps she was being humble?

[break][break] with jayden, she may not have realized, there was no need.

[break][break] "i'm sure you can give yourself more credit," he replies earnestly. "you are very good."

[break][break] the man's head tilts in thought as he considers her words. a good partner. he wondered what that might mean. technically speaking, his longest standing pokemon was veles. however... he was not sure if the shuppet could be considered a good partner. he would have to do some additional research to investigate the meaning of her words.

[break][break] the words that strike him the most are what she says after, however.

[break][break] pokemon are willing to die for their trainers.

[break][break] he thinks of THEO BECKETT, and a wide-eyed eevee. a forgotten member. his right shakes, and he finds himself curling his fingers into a fist to stabilize it. he swallows.

[break][break] sometimes pokemon did not have a choice.

[break][break] the sky clears up and opens with her pokemon's sunny day, effectively ending the battle as the volleyball hits the ground with a burning hiss. jayden closes the umbrella then too, because there is no need, and hands it to her.

[break][break] "there is always something to be learned, don't you think?" he says a bit aimlessly, reaching over to grab the volleyball on the floor and then return back to Melody Miro. "thank you for the match."
