The sun is scalding hot. The weather has not been kind on the days events, and as the sun reaches farther and farther into the sky, it even becomes more unbearable. Even Jayden, who ordinarily prefers to keep himself modest, can't help but strip and discard his beach t-shirt for bare shoulders and knees.

[break][break] The wolf tattoo on his back is perfectly visible, as are the scars are on his chest and torso, but the boy does seem to be shy about them, if he considers them worthy of notice at all. On the top of his head, he has a star-shaped sunglasses which were gifted — thrust onto him, really — by a tournament referee from his last match. "Here kid," the man had mentioned. "You're going to go blind without 'em."

[break][break] This time, Jayden stands in the center of the beach on one of it's more unusual battle platforms. This one is a bit risen from the ground, and has a Volleyball Net set in the middle of it. The rules of this battle were simple — each trainer got three pokemon to choose from, and they would have to take turns tossing the ball overhead.

[break][break] Jayden's fingers twitch at his side, at the edge of his H☆T Tournament ™ advertised swim shorts (one's with tiny, chibi faces of noah faber pressed into them) as he waits for his opponent to appear.

Melody's hair was painted in her royal blue color as per usual when she was doing her concerts and or battles for the league! She loved the hoenn star tournament so far as she got to meet a bunch of people far and wide who came to celebrate and enjoy themselves. One of the battles she was scheduled for was a "rotational" battle with a twist of the game involving volley ball. [break][break]
The first two pokemon in her party were mulan the bellosom and teje the leavanny. The third one however, was Maksim the trouble maker herdier. This goober was INSISTENT on playing volleyball and since Melody never really had that much time to play with him anymore she had taken the opportunity to tire him out with this method instead. [break][break]

Melody strolled up to the beach with her blue swimsuit that had an ocean design on them and a very thin white jacket over it to help protect her skin from the harsh rays of the sun. "Hey are you my opponent for the rotational volleyball match?" she said out loud waving over to him from the other side of the arena.

He recognizes her immediately — Melody Miro .

[break][break] Unlike Jayden, who's existence was arguably forgettable, Melody had a pizzazz and charm that seemed to draw all those around her. Bright colored cobalt hair, an infectious smile and undoubtable charm, she'd made a name for herself in more ways than one.

[break][break] The twenty-four year old glanced at her as soon as she walked up to the beach, pokemon in tow. "Hey, are you my opponent for the rotational volleyball match?" Jayden paused, hesitating. They had drawn quite the pair of viewers, now that they knew it was Melody who going to be partaking. Gym leader matches always drew spectators.

[break][break] But Jayden dipped his head in greeting. "Yes," he said politely, stepping forward so he could offer his hand to hers in a proper handshake. "I'm Mischa."

[break][break] Eventually, they parted, as the volleyball match was set up. Three pokemon on each side of the net, with their trainers on the side-lines as spectators. They were on the same side, so Jayden glanced quickly at Melody before looking back to his pokemon. It was his serve first.

[break][break] "Alright," he said, his voice soft. Could he even be heard over the chatter of the crowd? "Nyx, you're up first." The bright blue ditto slithered forward, it's body glowing with the power of TRANSFORM as it turned into a Leavanny. Hands thrown out in front of him, he tossed the ball loftily over the net, before stepping back to let another take his place.

Melody smiled as he returned the handshake! He seemed nice! A little shy but it's ok he might grow out of it one day, just meant whoever he was hanging around earned their spot in his life. Melody smiled as she spoke to him "Well Misha it's nice to meet you! I hope we can have some fun together!" [break][break]

And with that the battle begun! Ditto turned into a carbon copy of Teje. But was Misha going to be able to use his skillset properly? Well there was no other way to find out than to get it started! Melody saw him serve the ball and gave her first order [break][break]

"Alright Teje! Sunny day! Smack that ball right back at em!" she ordered as Teje launched a light that vanished in the sky and the sun light in the arena grew more intense and bellossom and teje's chlorophyll activates. She knew she'd be giving the fake teje a speed boost as well but she'd get more value out of it than he.[break][break]

After sunny day and their abilities activate then leaps into the air and uses the flate edge of it's hand to slam the ball back towards the enemy team.

She's bubbly and fun in all the ways that he isn't, but Jayden doesn't mind. He nods at her greeting, retreating into the quietness that he is far more comfortable with. Though, that is hard in the blaring sunlight, the growing crowd, and the music that begins to slowly pump in through the nearby speakers.

[break][break] It's why it's easier to focus on the battle, instead.

[break][break] The ball lobs successfully overhead, and Nyx leaps back. He is easy on his feet, despite just having transformed into his opponent's Leavanny form. The gleam on his leaves is nearly identical, if a little brighter, a little greener — a little more sparkling. Ala is the next to take his spot, but the Psyduck is far less charming.

[break][break] The sun gleams bright, blinding, and the water-type clutches his head to his skull in shock. He lets out a cry, "PSY!" And his body glows in white, as he uses DISABLE. The sunshine dims as a result of it, but when the blinding light fades, the volleyball has fallen to the ground — one point to Melody Miro .

[break][break] The ball rolls to Jayden's feet, and he hands it over to Melody. He blinks. "Your turn, I think."

The sunny day got cancelled by disable! What the heck! How rude! Melody pouted as her strategy got cancelled right out of the gate. However luckily the ball was in her court, literally. The psyduck had failed to hit the ball, she was familiar with the Pokémon's constant headaches so it made sense that the pokemon immediately cancelled out the source of one. [break][break]

"oh yeah, I think you're right." Melody says as she picks up the ball and hands it to her bellossom. The little weaboo pokemon cheers and knows exactly what she has to do which sends a shiver down melody's spine. The referee blows his whistle and slices the air in front of him to signal the match starting again. "Bellossom! Use Sunny day again! Give psyduck another headache!" she felt bad doing this strategy but she really wanted to win this battle. As chlorophyll activated Bellossom dashed up to the net and jumped while slamming the ball downwards to try and spike it.

Unfortunately for the other team, it isn't Ala's turn. The Psyduck's personality is such that a pin could make him flinch, let alone sunlight that shines brightly and unforgivingly in the day's sky.

[break][break] The young Riolu races against the sand, not caring how it burns his ankles and grins against the light as he jumps into the air the same moment that Bellossom did. His fingertips glow with the power of FORCE PALM to aid him in the ensuing grapple, hoping that it's enough power to turn the ball over to the other side.

The force palm sent the ball flying with a very powerful force so much so that it crashed into Bellossom's tiny body and bounced off of it into the air. Bellossom's face grew red but whether it was due to the ball bouncing off of her face or because she was upset wasn't exactly very easy to tell due to the blood rushing. [break][break]

Seeing that Bellossom wanted revenge for that ball hitting her face Melody decided to indulge her. Melody calls out to her Bellossom "You already know what to do bellossom! leaf blade!" [break][break]

Bellossom gathers leaves in her hands and forms them into an oversized buster sword blade like a total dweeb and as the ball descends, slams it with the blunt end of the sword towards the opponent's side of the court. God why did she ever show Mulan that old samurai movie?

The sun shines brightly as the "battle" continues on.

[break][break] Jayden has never been the type for sports — not with the upbringing he had, nor the lifestyle he had — but the rules seemed simple enough and easy to understand. Curiosity drove him as he watched the battle at large, trying to ignore the drawing numbers of people who had come to watch his and the fabulous Melody Miro volleyball match.

[break][break] As her pokemon took a giant leafblade to the volleyball, violet eyes drew up to watch it ascend towards the sky. "Ala!" Jayden's voice grew sharp, as it echoed over the ensuing match. "Confusion!"

[break][break] Sure enough, the water-type's body glowed in white as it used confusion on the descending attack. It was held in the air just above the net as his Riolu partner raced up and smacked the ball down in yet another spike.

[break][break] A combination at it's finest.

Sunny day 3/3 ending after this post. [break][break]

Melody watched as the psyduck worked with it's teammate to slam the volleyball back over to her side. "ok guys! Teamwork! Let's follow their lead!" Leavanny jumped into the air and fired a string shot at the ball. Once it was securely connected Leavanny spun the ball in a circle to build up momentum before releasing it into the air. [break][break]
"Maksim! Go!" she says as her dog bolts over to the ball and slam's his head into it sending it flying back towards their side of the field.

The sun dims, though only marginally. The sand is still unbearably hot with the fierceness of the region's summer.

[break][break] Jayden watches, curious, as the Leavanny takes to an unusual approach. The stringshot connects with the ball, spinning it in mid-air like a tetherball before the Herdier takes the opportunity to headbutt the volleyball to the other side of the court.

[break][break] The results gives the ball unique top-spin, which makes Psyduck whine in disappointment as it hits just the corner of the court. Once again, the ball rolls to Jayden's feet who picks it up and gently lobs it over to his Leavanny who catches it. "Use your opponents' strengths to your advantage. Now that you've seen it, you can do it too."

[break][break] Nyx nods obediently and gets into a setting position. Silk string spills from it's mouth but instead of spinning in the air like a tetherball, he opts for continuing to spin string-shot around the ball until it is gooey and sticky. He wraps his own fingers in the string, as to not make his own fingers stick to it, before launching it into the air and smacking it down onto the other side.

GOAL!!!! Wait, wrong sport. Melody was happy that her team managed to score a point on him again! A 2 point lead gave her some room to breath! Melody was expecting her Herdier to know that she wanted him to use hyper voice to not have to touch the ball, but the pupper got a bit too eager and just wanted to hit the ball normally. As he leaped back to smack it with his head again it instead got stuck to his face. [break][break]

Melody stared at him in disbelief "Really?" was all that managed to escape her lips as the referee blew the whistle and counted the point as Jayden's. Ugh fuckin goober herdier. "Alright let's try again!" She said but this time passing it off to Mulan who was far more capable of dealing with this. [break][break]

"Alright Mulan! Growth and leaf blade combo!" she calls out as Bellossom summons her oversized leaf blade but this time uses her growth move again to make the blade larger to make it even more weeby. She takes her blade and slams it back hard at the opposing team!

[break][break] It was marginal, considering that Melody Miro had a lead, but at least it was something.

[break][break] Jayden's gaze flickers upwards as Melody directs his pokemon to use a combination tactic. Curiosity fills his gaze as he watches the Bellossom surge with the dual combination of Growth and Leaf Blade. The giant leaf swirls larger and larger in the air, creating a shadow for a moment that gives her and the rest of the people watching a reprieve from the unbearable sun.

[break][break] Only for a moment.

[break][break] The resulting technique causes the ball to descend with twice the amount ferocity and fierceness that even despite his Riolu's efforts, he's unable to avoid. Link winces as his FORCE PALM comes into contact with the ball, but knocking him back. He falls backwards with a cry, granting the other team a point.

[break][break] Ala, surprisingly, is one to follow-up. He throws the ball into the air and serves, using the power of RAIN DANCE to aid him. Rain clouds appear above, rain spots splattering onto the sand below.

[break][break] Jayden looks around and, somehow, finding a spare umbrella opens it beside he and the Gym Leader. He tilts the umbrella in her direction, offering her some cover.

Oh! A gentleman! "Thank you!" she smiled at him as she was glad some people still had gentlemanly manners! Melody however wasn't going to let that stop her from battling her hardest, after all it would be rude of her to suddenly let up now wouldn't it? The Psyduck's swift swim activates as melody noticed how much more quickly it moved and Melody had to adapt quickly or else he'd score on her! It was also a good move, she was cut off from her sunny day tactic now so only bellossom could keep up! "Bellossom quickly quiver dance and get that ball, slam it back!" [break][break]

Bellossom quickly jumped into the air spinning wildly to activate quiver dance before flipping and using her little foot and kicking it back over to Psyduck "Jeez, that psyduck sure is a pain, you did quite the job raising it." she comments as she compliments him.
