Heh. Fairbanks. Keeping a last name basis indicated a desire to keep co-workers at arm’s length and to create artificial professionalism. The lack of a Ms. Or Mrs. – aside from the other obviously not knowing which applied to her – indicated that she did not want to go all the way with that, though. Vio continued to piece together the puzzle that was Lulu Flint.

Not that she knew that name, of course. Because that was a special conservation bullet that she had saved precisely for this moment. “Well, my assignment was to bring this to the lab, which I have finished now. I figure that means I am at your disposal now, one way or another,” she replied, still smiling, but straightening up. It was time for game-face. Well, after she shot for the critical.
“Though I do have to note that my initial task was to bring it to the lab, verbatim. I was not given a name to deliver it to.” If she wanted to be more on the nose, she would have spoken the ‘nudge, nudge’ part out loud. But she figured that indirectly like this, she could get the other an opportunity to realize that she had not yet given her own name. After all, the woman seemed to not be too used to much social interaction. Vio was striving for an interesting reaction, but she did not want to bully Lulu.


Lulu Flint

Wait, had the other still not understood? Honestly, at this point she was not quite sure whether this woman was amazing in a way or embarrassing in another. Probably both, to be real. But it did take her aback to the point where, at first, she could only stare at the other. However, she caught herself reasonably swiftly.

Well, if that was how the woman wanted to play this, who was she to deny her that? In fact, she decided right away that she would play along, at least to an extent here. “Ah, well, that is all that is needed I guess,” she instead replied, suddenly a bit non-committal. Then though, she nodded. “But yes, I am coming. Where are we going though, Miss Head Scientist?” Maybe putting some more emphasis on it like this would do the trick.
Probably not though. But it would be fun, regardless. Violet did not go where she was by not taking chances to poke slightly proverbial bears.

Ah, wonderful. This had worked. She had a last name now. Presumably. Flint could be a given name too, though that usually was reserved for males, not women. But, well, she did not want to make any presumptions in that regard. “A tour does sound quite wonderful,” she noted, folding her hands behind her back as she followed. Violet was nothing if not well behaved in the presence of her new superior, which she figured to just be proper. After all, this was to be her new home and family. Making a good first impression was notably important.

Plus, what they were working on here could well be genuinely interesting and impressive. “Yes, technology is quite interesting. It does make our lives so much more convenient and, well, fancy after all,” Vio hence replied with a light chuckle. Then, she tapped her lips. “I did hear talk of a generator indeed, but nothing concrete. What does it run on? If you are still working on it, then it has to be something rather important I reckon. And innovative, naturally.”

Drawings were fine. In fact, she found those more easily to grasp than massive machines anyway, especially when those could only be approached from afar. A drawing usually helped to grasp something in its entirety, though it admittedly worked best with the real thing at hand as well. But for now, she nodded, followed, watched. These drawings were holograms, too, which already made them quite nifty indeed.

Though, admittedly, she memorized the codes being entered to the best of her ability. Not for any specific reason, of course. It was just kind of what she did. “So, it runs on Pokemon,” she started, half talking to herself while leaning in and looking it up more closely. “Hmm, I heard mega stones mentioned a few times before, but nothing concrete. Something about them being used in special evolutions? Does that mean they stored up a lot of that Pokemon life force over time, then? Like oil coming from fossilized stuff?”

Ah, appreciation by someone capable. That was what she’d missed during her time on her own. Especially as a con-girl. Not exactly like anyone who knew about what she was doing would stick around to praise her. But getting it from someone who clearly knew her stuff like this? That was a nice feeling indeed.
Plus, it was an academically interesting questions, after all. Philosophy and the like were things that she had brushed her knowledge of up over time. Mostly because that led to easy conversational topics and allowed her to play the rich university student on vacation so much more easily.

After all, rich people, if they did not train to take over daddy’s company, often fell into these subjects more than hard science. Though that one was interesting, too. “If its radiation, it’s probably from space. At least that is what I read once, and it makes a lot of sense. After all, the divide between Pokemon and humans is pretty big. Somewhat hard to believe that we evolved on the same planet.” She tapped her lips, briefly, looking up from the hologram and instead focusing on Flint for a bit. “I mean proper evolved, not Pokemon evolved there, of course.”

“Naturally. You can just assume that I will follow unless either I or you say otherwise,” she replied with a smile. This woman probably required a certain kind of bluntness like this. She certainly seemed not too adept at, well, anything social. So just telling her these sorts of things probably helped.

Naturally though, she did follow along. “As for space, well, I know nothing about that. But I sometimes do feel like things are out of place, so maybe we or Pokemon are the anomaly here. Heh. Would be funny if we were the ones that came from space and all those ancient astronauts whackos were right all along.” Well, probably not the true whackos, but parts of their ideas at least. That just seemed funny to her, so she kept it in mind as a distinct possibility, while letting her eyes wander at all those other people working here.
Though not for long. After all, her boss probably wanted to guide her towards something specific which ought to be more interesting to begin with.

She naturally peeked into all the labs as they passed, trying to grasp as much information as she could at a glance. She did not stop and ask to get into any place in particular, but that was mostly because she did not want to deter the other from where she might be potentially leading her. Since Lulu did not say otherwise, Violet simply assumed that they had a specific goal in mind once more.

“The war? Heh, you are the second woman to ask me that in recent times.” Granted, the other one had then proceeded to make her life miserable for a bit, but she had a feeling Lulu would not. At the very least not knowingly. “But no, I missed that, mostly. I never was that much of a fighter, so when I heard of that happening, I did not rush towards the area in question. I probably would have only been in the way. Though I do think I could do more on Rokcet’s side, if I get a chance. I can pretend to be a poor civilian caught in the crossfire pretty well.” She had done that during the tree base attack, after all.
Granted, that had been less pretending and more truth, but she had still gotten away completely scot-free threre, despite being kind of responsible for burning down the place in a way.

“Why do you ask? Is that related to that Ultra-Space stuff?”
