I've been looking for problems.[break] One look and I'm all in Is it late in the morning? If I fall down then I can keep crawling

Tori panted as she tossed the jump rope aside. Two reps of 50 each had her calves and her arms tingling. Taking a moment to catch her breath, she reached for the band on her arm and quickly pulled her hair into a high ponytail. It was too hot not to have it up at the current moment. She hadn't been in Hoenn long but she was already getting to work on the essentials, one of them being fitness. She was pretty pleased with the assortment of gear Rocket had on them and she intended to use the equipment to the fullest. [break][break]

After a tiny break her eyes drifted to the pull up bar before she sighed. She quickly made her over to the bar and hoisted herself up before quickly hooking her legs on the bar and flipping over. Inverted hanging sit ups. A pain in her ass but it worked about 3 things at once. Efficiency over comfort. [break][break]

Music was thumping in the empty room. It was night time so she didn't expect anyone to be around, which let her turn up and work out in peace. As she tucked her arms behind her head and focused on her reps she made sure to control her breathing while creating tension in her abs. She was already beginning to feel the burn and she hadn't even done that many yet.

Chu-e had meant to be home by now.

It had been a hectic day and tomorrow didn't look better. The last minute preparations to ensure the oncoming mission was eating away at what little sleep he was getting. It didn't help that the lapses in memory were getting worse. Yet, he pushed on. It was only when he was packing up to leave he realized he hadn't recorded anything for Miles Sharp Mega research today. Sighing, he had urged Prince to go ahead and move his things back home and come back to pick him up. It would be a few more minutes.

The music in the training room surprises Chu-e. Yet, he has rights to be here so it doesn't stop him from entering.

He blinks as he takes in the young woman working out.

"Tori?" He calls, surprised, over the beat of the music as he approaches.

It had been a long time since he had seen Victoria Beckett. So long that she's grown, if it's her at all. A warmth is in his chest. Followed by a crumble; he hadn't seen her since he had gotten sick. People who knew him before usually didn't recognize him. Would she?

She was on her 10th curl up and she was already muttering a sling of curses under her breath. When had she gotten so out of shape that she would struggle this much? Since when was this so painful? Why did she hate herself so much to put herself through this suffering every other day? She didn't have the answers for those questions. Or rather she didn't want the answer, she just wanted to complain. [break][break]

"Tori?" her name rang out from someone's lips, loud over the music that was blasting in the room and caused her to lose focus on complaining and her curl ups. Hanging down she attempted to see who was calling for her but it didn't do much good when she couldn't really get a good look on the person hanging upside down. [break][break]

Quickly pulling up to grip the bar with her hand she untangled herself with a quick flip and hopped down from her perch to get a better look on who was talking to her. Brushing her bang out of her face she came to see short dark hair-red boy who seemed to recognized her. She didn't say anything for a moment, she just frowned as she held his gaze. [break][break]

After a second of awkward silence, Tori's eyes soften as her posture relaxes. "Chu-e?" she seemed hesitant, almost unsure if she was correct. But now that she looked at him longer she made no mistake. This was Chu-e Choi, someone she'd considered family, still does. She hadn't seen him in years. Then again, she hadn't seen many of her former friends and 'family' in years but still. [break][break]

He also looked incredibly different than how she remembered him. If she was honest, he didn't look well. She wanted to ask, she had several questions but for once she couldn't bring herself to ask them. Instead she just looked at him in disbelief before a small smirk formed on her lips. "I honestly didn't expect to see you again." she said softly, there was no hint of bitterness in her tone. [break][break]

Almost everyone she had been extremely close with disappeared after Rocket fell. She could understand why. Only a few sting badly with there disappearance, Chu-e being one of them. When she was young he was the one she spent the most time with. Theo never wanted her to be apart of Rocket. He wanted her far away from this life but Tori was stubborn. So after realizing this was a battle he couldn't win, Theo decided to teach her. [break][break]

However, he never really did train her properly. His efforts were poured into Suzu and all Tori had left was the crumbs. Everything she learned that she uses today was things she learned from Chu-e. There were a few notable other's but Chu-e was one of the firsts to notice her struggling and to offer her help. [break][break]

She always was appreciative for him and she wished that wherever he went she could've gone with him. Being left behind by your loved ones left Tori with a sense of loneliness and depression she had never experienced before. "It's good to see you." she as she touched her watch and the music died down.

There is a moment where Chu-e hesitates.

The Chu-e Choi that Victoria Beckett knew had been kind enough to her, almost like she was his younger sister, but he had still been angry and bitter even in his kindness and affection.

In the end, he figures he's dying anyway so it doesn't matter.

A stupid smile crosses his face.

"Come here, Tor." He approaches with arms wide to try and give her a hug. If Tori's a little sweaty from her workout, well, he's hugged worse.

If she allowed the hug, he would give her a squeeze before pulling back some to get a better look at her.

"I missed you. You look well."

After a moment Chu-e's features stretch into a wide smile which put her heart at ease. "Come here, Tor." he said, arms outstretched ready to receive a hug from her. Tori hesitated for a moment, she wasn't really a hugger but she could make an exception for her family. She stepped into his embrace for a brief hug, she didn't want to linger too long, she had just been working out after all. [break][break]

"I missed you. You look well." she nodded. It'd been years since he last saw her and she certainly and grown up a lot since then. Both physically and mentally. At lease she would like to hope she did. "What have you been up to all this time?" she asked him as she reached for her towel that was nearby. [break][break]

She wanted to know what was going on, why he looked unwell and where he had been. But she didn't want to barrage him with questions so soon. Still, he'd be able to recognize that familiar glint in her eyes. It was one she wore a lot as a kid whenever she wanted to know more.

There is that natural urge to keep his problems to himself.

But if anyone deserved to know where he had fucked off to, it was Victoria Beckett.

Plus, knowing her, she would be able to weasel it out of him eventually. May as well fold his hand and give in while he still had a leg to stand on.

"After Kanto? Here. Then Kalos. Then a hospital for a long ass time." He motions around him. "Now I'm here again." It wasn't a complete explanation. Not one he really wanted to get into, either, for the moment. His eyes look promised more information later. In a more private setting and maybe after a meal.

"I was... compromised while in Kalos. Most people thought I was dead from what I hear." Not that that was far from the truth now.

"What about you? How have you been holding up?"

It was clear, almost as if it was written on her face, that she was wondering if everything was okay now. Even if she didn't ask it. [break][break]

"Now I'm here again." The look in his eyes let her know she should press matters. Not that she ever was good at heeding advice like that. This time, she'd make an exception. She was sure he'd fill her in on everything she'd miss in due time. After patting herself dry she walked to grab her water bottle before taking a seat on one of the lifting benches. [break][break]

"I was... compromised while in Kalos. Most people thought I was dead from what I hear." She nodded, things were hazy after the initial collapse of Rocket and Silas' death. Even she had to be on the run and she hadn't been as involved as the other's. She glanced down at her hands as they gripped the water bottle tightly. [break][break]

Times were rough, for her, and apparently the loved ones that left her behind. "What about you? How have you been holding up?" Chu-e asked, his question pulling her away from her thoughts. "Oh you know..." she trailed off, she'd almost told a lie. It was so easy to slip into but she stopped herself. "Honestly, it's been rough." she finally admitted after a moment. [break][break]

"Back then I didn't know what was going on. Everyone I cared about was suddenly leaving me behind." She said as she stared back down at her water bottle. "You, Gavin, even Theo and Suzume left." She said with a sigh before taking a swig of water. "Not to mention the amount of shit I ran into because of it. I guess I never realized how sheltered I'd been until everything was gone." [break][break]

It was true, she always had Rocket before. Always had some people around her that could help her out and that she could depend on. When that was all gone, she only had herself to rely on and that was by far some of the scariest months she ever lived through. "Luckily I ended up connecting with some people that gave me a hand. I wasn't drowning on my own anymore, and eventually I was able to stabilize but...I was always concerned about what if's. You know me." she said as she offered him a vulnerable and small smile.

"I don't know if it'll make you feel any better, but we never really had a choice." If it had been up to him, all that time ago, he would have have stayed in Kanto. Coming to Hoenn had been forced, then being 'sent off' to Kalos... It had never been his choice. Only coming to Hoenn this time, that had been the first decision he had made for himself in years. "Fucked up, but it was probably for the best you weren't here."

That didn't mean he wanted Victoria Beckett to suffer, though.

"I'm glad you're here now, though." Really, knowing she was okay, it put some stuff in his mind at ease.

"It'll liven the place up. It can get boring as hell." A sigh. Then he perked back up. "Oh! I have a kid now. You should meet her. I bet you'd be able to teach her to raise hell." Plus his boyfriend... Tori had so many new faces to meet.

"I don't know if it'll make you feel any better, but we never really had a choice." She nodded slowly. She knew deep down that it hadn't been on purpose. But whether she liked it or not. Late nights and the times she spent struggling alone, it was easy to convince herself everyone and left her due to something she did. Maybe she wasn't smart enough or strong enough. [break][break]

After all, her father wouldn't even try to teach her properly. Perhaps it was because she had no talent for it. Frustrated, he took the more talented child with him and left her behind. Things like that had frequented her thoughts more often than she would've liked to admit. "Fucked up, but it was probably for the best you weren't here."[break][break]

She turned her violet orbs towards him with a slow nod. He might be right. She had no idea what he had to endure when he was gone. But on that same vein. She was sure being with her family would've been better than stranded alone. But she didn't say anything she just nodded. She didn't want his pity or anything, after all, she was still here and she was doing just fine. [break][break]

"I'm glad you're here now, though." She offered him a smile. "I'm glad to be here too." it was true. After being away so long she couldn't begin to explain how happy she was to be back. "It'll liven the place up. It can get boring as hell." Chu-e sighed before perking back up, "Oh! I have a kid now. You should meet her. I bet you'd be able to teach her to raise hell."[break][break]

Her eyes were wide as she blinked back at Chu-e. "I'm sorry?" she said as she tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear as if to better hear him. "Did you say a child?" she stared back at him in horror. "As in a pint sized person. You. Have one?" her jaw dropped as she held her head in her hands. "Arceus help me, I really have been gone a long time."

Chu-e couldn't keep the grin off his face. He knew that mentioning Eris Halla to Victoria Beckett would make the conversation a little less sad between them.

"Yup! Her name is Eris. She's eleven so I'm officially a teen mom." Taking out his phone, he pulled up a picture he had taken of her when her and Reiner had dozed off on the couch one day. It was adorable. He offered his phone to Tori, which gave her free reign for shenanigans, but at the risk of potentially stumbling upon something she'd rather not see. It was her choice.

"I also have a boyfriend! His name's Leon. I expect you to do the little sibling thing and bully the fuck out of him." Tapping his chin, Chu-e tried to think of any developments that were not so sad to think about... He was sure there was some but he was blanking.

"What about you? Any lovers I need to beat up? Kids waiting in the wings? How many husbands have you had mysteriously vanish? I promise not to tell."

While he was focused on finding one Tori couldn't help the small smile it brought to her own face. It was good to see him so happy. [break][break]

It was a bit different than how he left her but that wasn't exactly a bad thing. She just wanted the best for him and now that she was back, if anyone threatened his happiness they would be dealt with accordingly. After a moment Chu-e surrendered his phone over to Tori who quickly took it to get a better look at the child on the screen. [break][break]

If she had to admit it, Eris Halla was adorable. She'd probably never say so out loud though. She didn't want Chu-e's ego swelling any more than it already was. A teen mom, Tori snickered at his earlier joke before quickly deciding to put her information in on his phone before handing it back over to him. [break][break]

"As if you even had to ask." she said with a wicked smirk forming on her lips. She was honestly quite eager to meet those that Chu-e now cherished. She was curious and she wanted to make sure he was in good hands. Just to settle her own concerns. [break][break]

"What about you? Any lovers I need to beat up? Kids waiting in the wings? How many husbands have you had mysteriously vanish? I promise not to tell." Violet hues rolled in exaggeration at the very notion of such things being involved with Tori. "Did you forget who you were talking to?" she asked him as she took a swig of water. "In case you've forgotten who raised me, I don't exactly know what love is other than an annoyance." she said as she stared up at the ceiling. [break][break]

"And do I look like I could be a mother? Please, at least pick a funnier joke next time." Her words were as curt and fierce as ever but the small quick of her lips betrayed her tone to allow Chu-e to know she wasn't upset with him at all. "I'm afraid my life has been terribly dull in your absence. Sorry, I have nothing to report."
