Thoughtful, Dmitri clicked his tongue in disapproval as he observed the specimen in his hand. The rock was cold and lifeless to the touch, it's grooves nothing more than a metallic piece of rock. This was the shipment that had been delivered earlier that day, but none of yet had proven useful. Blackwell would not appreciate it — in fact, Dmitri did not appreciate it.

[break][break] Yet, this was the issue with working out of office, was it not? He had been sent to Sinnoh for observation. Things were never quite smooth when he had to travel. A sigh. How disappointing.

[break][break] There was a shift in the door in the back of the room — nigh imperceptible, had it not been Dmitri himself.

[break][break] The door opens wider, this time, into the room's exhibit. Oreburgh was not spectacular ‐ anything but, really — but the town's miners were easy to push around, to get what he wanted. Bright red eyes surveyed the boy who was let in.

He would have said this emotion was him being conflicted if he hadn't known what exactly he was signing up for. It hums in his chest, chatters in his mind and forces his hands to shake even as he holds no regrets in his mind. The door stands before him, dark and foreboding as the future he's surely destined to write for himself.

His attire, his attitude, the atmosphere reeks of perfection - A need for the best of the best, not an expectation but an order to perform. When the vampire dares him to look him in the eyes, Ryuuzaki doesn't flinch nor back down, forcing his body to relax as he keeps his breathing in check.

[break][break] Perhaps Dmitri may have wanted to scowl — he didn't. His face was perfectly pleasant, as he stepped back with a nod, his gaze never wavering. "Ripka," he says, gesturing to his son who still stayed hovering by the entrance. "The door."

[break][break] A young Jayden nods, shy, and closes the door.

[break][break] With that handled, Dmitri retreats behind a desk, fingering the paperwork of ryuuzaki amemiya 's file. "Ryuu-chan, " he says, voice slightly mocking. "Tell me why you're here."

This little test isn't necessary, but neither is it one that he hasn't expected.

"I want information. Rocket happened to be a good place to start."

Brutally honest. He knows that his intentions are already written amongst the files upon that desk, so there'd be no use in hiding the truth. In fact, he's certain that the more he skirts around a question, the more Dmitri will try to pry it from his lips. But Ryuuzaki will not yield. Fear only grows when the enemy has a hold on the heart and a space in the mind.

There's nothing noble or pitiful about his reasons, it's all just a means to an end.

The boy does not make it easy, but then again, had it been an easy task then they would not have brought him in to handle the task.

[break][break] "That much is clear," he says, not even bothering to hide the disdain from his voice. Disappointment. Dmitri - or as Amemiya should know him, Nikolai Cross, Rocket Commander - glances down at the files again, briefly, before turning around and deciding to lean back against the desk. This way, he can give the other his full attention. A scarlet gaze roves over ryuuzaki amemiya , his expression critical. He is assessing.

[break][break] The boy is not different in age from Dmitri's own son but between the two of them lies a yard of difference. Jayden, a boy raised in Rocket, knows how to be loyal.

[break][break] Does Amemiya?

[break][break] "I'll ask again. Tell me why you're here." This time his tone is not mocking, not lilting. Instead, it is serious and demanding, something steely in the way that he looks at the other. A knife, pulled from a pocket, dances over his knuckles.
