Melody had a surprise match today! She was excited to battle rowan again and even the score this time. She waltz up to the beach, the arena was reserved for them before hand and the stands were filled to the brim to watch the rematch between the gym leader and her best friend as that battle got a lot of views online and on tv! She strolled up to her spot and throws out her blastoise who was poised to battle against anything. She waves eagerly to rowan when he shows up "Hey roro!" she says giving im a stupid nickname.

“What’s up, Melly?” Rowan stepped onto the arena with a small smile, tossing his Pokeball into the air and letting it fall onto his hand repeatedly. “Suppose this is kind of a re-match, huh?” He didn’t intend on using the same Pokémon though, no he had something else in mind for his best friend.

“Come on out, Phione.” A flash of light revealed the Phione onto the field, fluttering around aimlessly through the air until they caught sight of the Blastoise, suddenly stricken with trepidation. “Don’t worry, you got this!”

Melody was glad rowan seemed to be doing well, plus he knew exactly what she was thinking. However she totally was not expecting the pokemon she saw him toss out "Woah! Where did you get a phione?! Oh my god it's so cute!" she shouts eagerly at the top of her lungs. [break][break]

"I saw a bunch of them recently and I tried to get one for myself but it didn't really pan out the way I wanted it to." But she knew that because they were the offspring of a rarer pokemon, surely it had to be powerful right? Melody had to meet it head on so she brought a pokemon that melody considered to be one of her power houses. [break][break]

"Go blastoise!" she shouts as she tosses the ball into the air and the blastoise lands with a thud. She didn't even give him any room to breath, the girl wanted every advantage over her opponent she could get "Quickly use shell smash!" she orders as a thin layer of energy coats blastoise's body and begins to crack afterwards and the pokemon let out a ferocious roar.

“I found an egg while swimming the routes around Sootopolis.” A carefully crafted lie, knowing that he couldn’t tell Melody the truth considering she had been at the Seafloor Cavern where it was found. “Almost couldn’t believe when one of these hatched from it.”

Blastoise surged forward for a Shell Smash and the Phione was seemingly prepared, slipping into the floor beneath them like the ground was liquid, disappearing with the power of Dive.

Oh god, was rowan swimming around when Melody was working? Did the rough housing from down there release a chamber of eggs that began to float around? I mean that would make sense honestly. Just like her battle with John Sullivan this little tricky baby started off the move being a bit too clever for comfort. [break][break]

Melody was going to try and bolster the defenses she just lost if that was the case as she knew the move dive took some time to actually work "Iron defense recuperate yourself!" she says as blastoise's skin shimmered a metallic silver and it's skin hardened.

Phione did indeed take a moment to appear from the ground once more, creating a splash of water upon re-entry. The Pokémon surged forward with the water, looking to strike the Blastoise with the force of Dive, not realizing that the other Pokémon had bolstered their defenses.

“Shit.” Rowan chewed his lip as the Phione bounced off Blastoise’s hardened shell, dropping onto the ground with a dazed look in their eyes.

The phione seemingly bonked right off of blastoise's shell. Ok that seemingly worked, but no siree! she wasn't going to be trick as she thought that the Meltan he used was harmless too! "Hey row have you seen that footage of me versus the flying giant lizard snake?" She said grinning as she placed her hand forward, as one of the rings on her fingers began to glow and strings of light connected her and blastoise together. [break][break]

The pokemon began to grow larger as it's cannon was seemingly upgraded and was even accompanied by several other cannons adorning it's shell for even more added firepower "Lets see how she can handle this! Gmax cannonade!" she orders as several shots of water flew towards the baby

“Giant...lizard...snake?” Certainly Melody must have taken a blow to the head recently, she wasn’t making any sense. “No, I don’t think I have.” Much to his surprise she decided to activate some strange capacity that the Blastoise possessed, similar but also vastly different from their Mega Evolution. “What the hell…?”

Soon the cannons on their back began raining bombardments of water all around, forcing the Phione to let out a panicked yelp and dash around to avoid being struck. “Liquefy!” Rowan called out, watching as the Phione used Acid Armor to dissolve into a puddle on the ground, temporarily saving them from being struck by the falling assault.

What the hell! It turned into water? Of course it did, acid armor was a common move among water types so she should have expected that. [break][break]

"Blastoise! Try and use aqua tail on it!" she orders as Blastoise retreated into it's shell, only leaving it's tail out and begun to spin around and gathered water around it as it spun around seeing if it could eventually find the pokemon by spinning around the arena wildly and attacking at random.

Phione returned to their solid form in time to see the Blastoise barreling down upon them, forcing the Pokémon to let out a yelp of surprise. “C’mon don’t panic, you know what to do!” Rowan offered words of encouragement towards Phione, knowing what the Pokémon was capable of from their short time together.

Water gathered around Phione, suddenly spinning and becoming more violent until a Whirlpool encapsulated them entirely. Should Blastoise follow through with the attack, Phione wouldn’t be inside, seemingly having disappeared altogether.

The phione was one hell of a slippery pokemon. The blastoise's mega evolution was timing out quickly so melody had to keep attacking with full force "Go in blastoise! You got this!" she said giving it a thumbs up before he vanished into the whirlpool. However the phione was gone again! What was Melody supposed to do she was stumped and running out of time. She'd just keep turning into water and vanishing! [break][break]

Wait..what if there was no water? melody just had to roll with it! "Alright Blastoise! Time to drain this place! SKULL BASH THE FLOOR!" she called out as Blastoise reinforced it's head and leaped up into the air and slamming it's head into the floor, utterly destroy a majority of the concrete and causing cracks to drain the water from the battlefield. The blastoise slowly began to shrink until it returned to it's normal form.

Water drained from the arena, leaving Phione helpless and exposed once more. “You outlasted the transformation, we got this!” Rowan cheered on the legendary Pokémon, hoping to instill them with some much needed confidence. A hand reached up to wipe some imaginary sweat from their forehead, more reactionary since they were made of water.

Then came the wide eyes and quivering lip, hoping to Charm the Blastoise into going easy on them. Rowan wasn’t sure if such a thing would work, but he had to commend the Phione for trying.

The now normal blastoise blinked at the Phione, staring at it's rather cute form and losing some will to physically strike it. Blasting it with a cannon though? Hell yeah! "Blastoise! Hydro pump!" she called out as Blastoise now aimed his two cannon barrels right at the little baby babooshka. [break][break]

The cannons fired full force at the little baby that really, only melody feared it. That Meltan traumatized her pretty good watching it corrode all that metal and growing larger. She was sure hoenn's electric district would make it grow to massive proportions.

“Oop, okay.” Rowan held his hand out towards the Phione, allowing the Pokémon to return to the safety of their Pokeball. “I don’t want the little thing getting hurt that bad.” He laughed sheepishly, slipping the Pokeball onto his belt and securing the clasp. “Why were you so scared of a Phione, anyways?”

There must have been some trauma there, but he knew Melody seemed to have a terrible memory as of late, she was forgetting things left and right. “I guess that means you win, nerd.”
