Temp and Tulio are already helping the old man and two girls off the Corviknight by the time Cillian Quinn arrives with the last kid. Said child is giddy, eager, and will no doubt talk to anyone who listens about the 'nice birdie' for weeks to come. If Gavin or even Lugia herself ever doubt, they can least know they have one fan living in the tiny and forgotten town.

"Everything's okay over here!"

A few of the townsfolk are still around, wary, and shoot concerned looks at the dark god and the blond she had brought with her. It's still busy, the panic dying down, and now it's time to rebuilt and recover.

Tulio steps forward, face stern, and claps Gavin on the shoulder.

"Thank you for getting them back."

Then he leans in, pulls Gavin towards him, and tries to bump their foreheads together. Quick. A sign of respect. Then he backs off and calls out to anyone able bodied, to hurry and get this place cleaned up.

The townsfolk are less wary and more curious. Pacifidlog didn't have a proper mayor, it just had Tulio as a faux-chief, and with his blessing comes trust.

Gavin squares his shoulders as a stern-faced Tulio approaches, half expecting confrontation — not because Tulio has given him any reason to, but because others have in his stead. His muscles are taut as a firm hand claps against his shoulder.

"Any time."

He doesn't understand the significance of the following gesture but doesn't miss the way it seems to relax the gathered townsfolk. Gavin's amber gaze cuts across them to find one face in particular, the true reason he'd leaped out of his bed in the middle of the night to embark on a dangerous rescue operation.

He strides up with purpose and no hesitation before he kisses Tempest Quinn on the mouth.

They've yet to put words to any feelings between them but it's certainly not the ordinary reaction Gavin would have upon seeing a friend through such an ordeal. It's fierce and breathless, a hand curled possessively against the back of the other's neck to keep him close as he pulls back.

"You scared the fuck out of me."

I'm glad you're OK.

While Temp and Cillian Quinn won't hear it, Tulio side eyes the pair and mutters a mocking 'just friends' under his breath. Then he's back to work, barking orders to make sure his people and town are safe.

Temp himself is more dazed. He doesn't kiss back at first, confused, only chasing after the kiss when Gavin has started to pull away. He has stars in his eyes, for multiple reasons, but that was a totally normal reaction to his good friend kissing him... for sure. Totally.

"Dude, it's a good thing you showed up when you did." Even if Gavin is able to break the kiss, Temp's hand would find the back of Gavin's neck. He would squeeze, soft, not possessive, before leaning in to bump their foreheads, too. Another sign of respect, the small difference in Tulio's being more affection in it's meaning.

An erratic, unexpected pulse of anxiety registers when Gavin realizes belatedly that Tempest Quinn isn't kissing back. Worried he'd overstepped some unspoken boundary, Gavin makes to retract from his friend before a hand curls around his neck and—

Arceus.

Did Temp have any idea what that did for him?

It succeeds in halting his retreat, for one, and Gavin kisses back with tender hesitance when Temp reciprocates.

"I'm glad you thought to call me."

Not only because it had potentially saved his life, but for the implications of trust that had been placed between them. He hadn't called for the League, or for anyone else. He'd called for Gavin.

"This shit happen here a lot?"

Temp doesn't let go, at first, before he gives one last soft squeeze and let's his hand drop. There would be time later to explore these types of interactions, to push and test, but not now.

"Yeah. Small and isolated, people think we're easy targets for all sorts of things." It's not like they had much to start with. It didn't help that whatever little they did have, people would try and take it from them. The League hadn't done much to help, they were too far out and didn't have more solid resources like Dewford or Mossadeep, so there was little point.

"I'm glad you listened." Which might seem silly to Cillian Quinn, but it means a lot to Temp. When you got most of your life that saying 'Help' is ignored or even an inconvenience, you learn to not bother asking.
