"Not even got my paperwork done and already asking met to pull strings for you." Temp clicks his tongue with false admonishment but laughs right after.

"Dude, of course! I know if I royally fuck something up you won't judge me too bad. Like, if a kid came in tho? They'd tear me apart. I need that buffer." And soon, they would also have the comfort of their relationship, but this was just before that, if I remember the time-line right.

The food sizzles on the grill, since Cillian Quinn was still weak from getting half eaten by Chu-e, so Temp pulls it off, adds some sides from the cooler that were chilling, and brings his friend a plate.

A sudden commotion, a Dewgong leaping to surface, which makes Temp laugh when it splashes him, and probably Gavin, when it goes back under.

"What do you expect?" Doe-eyed, blinking false innocence. "Haven't you heard I'm a criminal?"

A wanted man, a real bad boy with his fluttering lashes and the gaunt sharpness to his cheeks thanks to his run-in with Chu-e Choi.

He barks a sharp laugh at the mention of kids.

"You're not wrong; they've got no filter, I swear."

He thinks of Eris Halla and feels a dip in his mood before he brushes such thoughts to the side. He's here to spend quality time with his friend, not mope over what he could've done to stop the situation with Eris.

"Fuck, this smells great."

He takes a bit of skewered meat and has it halfway to his mouth before a Dewgong rudely introduces the ocean to his meal, the salty spray splattering across his shirt and sticking it to his chest. A nice view for Tempest Quinn, at least.

"You're a huge fuckin' dork is what you are, Gavvie."

Answer back as Temp takes a seat next to his 'crewmate'.

Water soaks them and Temp laughs, particularly at how disgruntled that Cillian Quinn looks.

"Just a lil bit of flavor." He sings songs, picking up his now slightly soggy skewer and sinking his teeth into it. "You look like a wet cat. Eat and get your strength up." He leaned over to nudge Gavin with his shoulder, smirking. He didn't look much better, his hair plastered to his head and shirt sticking, but anything to give Gavin a little hell.

"Also true," he relents, grinning. "But still a wanted man."

Gavin lightly flicks his skewer to dispel the water, but it still has the added flavor of seawater when he takes his first bite. It doesn't bother him, hunger making the meat taste better than dining at a 5-star restaurant on a less empty stomach.

"That's rude," he objects, but only after swallowing his food, because his family taught him something right. "If I had my strength up I'd kick your ass and throw ya overboard."

He shoves playfully against Tempest Quinn's shoulder, takes another bite.

Temp laughs with a mouth full of meat, kind of gross, but he just retaliates from Cillian Quinn's shove with his elbow before chomping down more.

"You couldn't kick my ass if you were fighting fit, dude. Who was the one who won our last brawl?" Temp preens, hands on his chest, flutters his lashes, a shit eating grin plastered on his face.

"You're lucky I like you too good. Would hurt my feelings if I pushed you and Whale Mama decided she wanted a younger man."

"Hey, I was not at my best. I was distracted!"

But his protests are good-natured, amber eyes sparkling in the sun's light. True though the words may have been, it was also true that Tempest Quinn won most of their brawls. It made Gavin's victories over the other all the sweeter.

"Lugia would snatch you right off this boat if you pushed me. Afternoon snack."

Temp was a hell of a snack, albeit for other reasons in Gavin's eyes.

"So you're lucky I like you, too, asshole."

He shoves against him but this time keeps his weight pressed against the other's shoulder, the contact fond.

"Distracted by my S-tier mouth, nerd." Temp leans back into Cillian Quinn, weight on weight, before he straightens up some and just let's the other chill. He waggles his brow, not an ounce of shame in anything he' doing. Even if maybe there should be a little.

"You know, maybe we should stop this talk while we're ahead." And for a moment, one might worry that Temp was actually worried Lugia would eat him or something....

"You know I'm not into women and I don't want to get her hopes up. The 'pokemon' part is also a huge roadblock, dude." A snicker.

Over the horizon, the tiny speck of a ship appeared, slowly drawing closer.

Gavin tilts his head, then throws it back with a sharp scoff of laughter.

"Yeah, you won't even get naked in front of 'em without blushing like a middle-schooler," he taunts, smiling fondly. He might not have shared Tempest Quinn's sense of shame, there, but he did find it amusing and kind of adorable.

He squints as he sees a ship on the horizon.

"Hope they're friendly."

There's a sudden edge to his tone that suggests he's prepared if they're not.

When Cillian Quinn spots the ship first, Temp glances up to squint into the horizon. He's tense, it's always tense when a big ship is around his hometown, but after a moment he relaxes and just gives a big and stupid grin. Faintly, as it grows larger, the tiny speck of Pacifidlog itself starts to come into view.

"Bro! It's friendly as hell!" Considering it looked like a large, albeit dated, war ship, one might be surprised to hear that....

But Temp places his food down and stands up to go get a better look, hands on his hips and stupid, wide grin on his face.

"That's my Gym!"
