So, his next match was against Boruta Maher.

Or, as Mars had first heard of him: CIAN MAHER‘s dumbass ranger brother. Cian’s words, mind you, not Mars’.

This could be fun.

Though, sand being blown around since before the match even began? Not so fun.

”Hey! Martín del Mar, but you can call me Mars. Nice to meet you.” A radiant grin, two pokémon being called out from their pokéballs before him. The first, a sweet and harmless-looking Inkay that floated about through the air. The second, an elegant Glaceon.

Over a dozen water types and leave it to Mars to go with the one who was at a type disadvantage. Typical.
[break][break]
Glaceon who, naturally, wasn’t too pleased about the sandstorm, her eyes glowing in gelid blue as she summoned HAIL to fall in a somewhat sudden and unpredictable change of weather.

”I hope you don’t mind, it helps with the heat.” Mars smiled, ever nonchalant.

Well, that sure was one way to begin.

Bo was right, the Hail was really annoying.

They could have had some nice rain, but nah, Mars just had to let his Glaceon out to play.

Glaceon who, by the way, definitely was in no position to avoid the THUNDER WAVE – growling as she was left PARALYZED in place. The Inkay, on the other hand, had the unfair advantage of being able to float up through the air, using his psychic power to easily move out of the electric attack’s range. It didn’t do much about the STEALTH ROCK though, but that just meant he had to be careful.

Mars whistled, sounding impressed. ”Damn, nice combo there! Lethe, do your thing.”
[break][break]
Lethe was, of course, the name of Mars’ Inkay, named after the River of Oblivion. With reason too, since the moment his name was called, the little Inkay spun gracefully in the air, releasing the veil of HYPNOSIS onto the arena.

If they were going to play at status conditions, they might as well play at status conditions, right?
[break][break]
How about a nap under the sun?
[break][break]
… And also under a hailstorm and sand?
[break][break]
Fun times!

Just like that, the Gigalith went for a good siesta, missing out on all the fun.

Though fun was a bit debatable of a word, since it could have been argued that not many would have enjoyed a battle under these conditions. It hailed. One half of Mars’ duo was paralyzed and one half of Bo’s was asleep. Fun, wasn’t it?

It sure would be a shame if someone were to add to it...

The Aurorus didn’t think it was fun though, as evidenced by the way she shot a HYPER BEAM at the poor little Inkay who had definitely done nothing wrong. He tried to avoid it, but the attack was fast – still hitting one of his adorable tiny tentacles and causing him to squirm and spin around in the skies.

He didn’t like it! He didn’t like it at all! And so, he retaliated, shaking with raw psychic power that was released in the form of a PSYBEAM. Maybe it would confuse the Aurorus, and maybe it would just harm it.
[break][break]
Through it all, Mars remained calm, as if he was unbothered by the scene before his eyes. ”Nice job, Lethe.”

One paralyzed, one confused, one asleep. Mars’ Inkay though? Mars’ Inkay was just vibing – a little cutie twirling up in the skies as if it was having a great time. The HAIL was a bit inconvenient, and it kind of hurt, but the tiny squid was kind of used to that sort of thing (it’s better not to ask, honestly).

Had Mars been someone else, he would have felt kind of bad seeing Bo yelling at his poor confused Aurorus. He didn’t though, and the more malicious and childish sides of him even found it kind of comical. Something he definitely didn’t show aside from the smallest and faintest of smirks reaching his lips.

Now, what to do next?
[break][break]
Would Melpomene be able to attack? Nope, apparently paralysis was still a bitch.
[break][break]
Lethe though? Lethe had a few more tricks up his little tentacles.
[break][break]
”Ah… That’s a bit unfortunate. No hard feelings though, right?” Mars grinned, then looking at the Inkay. ”Lethe, Superpower.”
[break][break]
And so, Superpower it was, because only someone stupid wouldn’t take advantage of his opponents being vulnerable.

The Revolving Pokémon’s body was suddenly surrounded by a light blue aura, and with incredible strength that was perhaps mostly psychic, some of the sharp rocks near it were launched towards his opponents with SUPERPOWER.

It would leave the Inkay weakened once the attack was over, and it had a chance of also hitting his Glaceon, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there, won't we?

Okay, so… Honestly, Inkay was kind of a little prick, huh?

Mars loved him for it, and he was one of his favourite pokémon because he was useful as hell, but had he been in Bo’s position, he would have probably also aimed a combination attack at the adorable yet demonic little squid in hopes of getting it the hell out of this battle.
[break][break]
There was only one problem with that though.
[break][break]
What did the Inkay do when seeing the attacks being sent his way? He understood that there was no way he was getting out of this one, so he readied himself to face his fate. Without moving from where he had been, his eyes began to glow with ominous purple light, the curse of DESTINY BOND being released upon his enemies.
[break][break]
Whichever attack hit last, whichever delivered the finishing blow, it would cause the pokémon who had delivered to face the fate to which it had sentenced the Inkay. FAINTING, just as the little squid did – falling from the skies onto the sand with little ceremony.
[break][break]
”Well, shit. So much for that, huh? ”
[break][break]
On the bright side for Mars, at least the Glaceon could move this turn. She was harmed by the attacks, and she was getting pretty annoyed, so in the remnants of the Hail she chose to summon a ICY WIND onto the field. Hey, at least it wasn't a blizzard.

Would Bo never eat calamari again because Mars’ Inkay just traumatized him with how annoying it was?

Don’t know, maybe go ask Mad later to find out, because we’re all about HST right now!

For the price of one Inkay, the Gigalith was down, and that was a fair exchange in Mars’ eyes. He called the little squid back to his pokéball, his gaze then fixing on both the Aurorus and Glaceon.

Needless to say, they were in a bit of a difficult position.
[break][break]
Between the two pokémon, the winner was rather obvious, and the fact that the Aurorus had been hit with confusion probably wouldn’t do much to alter those odds. What could Glaceon possibly do against a pokémon that would only be tickled by most of her moves?

She could rush to BITE it, that’s what she could do.
[break][break]
She charged, running through the storm of rocks, and while some were avoided, some left their mark, making the pokémon wince and cry but not stopping her in her tracks. She was a woman on a mission, and that mission was to munch on this popsicle of a dinosaur.

Damn. The nearest seafood buffet better watch out, Bo was about to come for them as soon as he was done fighting his way through HST.

Now, let me tell you…

Paralysis? One hell of an annoying status condition.
[break][break]
It wasn’t like the Glaceon could just shake it off or something, in fact, it slowed her down. So much so avoiding most of the attack had been impossible and it took her a while to reach the Aurorus to use BITE.

But, she did it! She made it! She bit down on the dinosaur’s tail!
[break][break]
The only problem though? Her PARALYSIS decided to strike back right there and then, and that’s how Glaceon was left: hanging from the Aurorus’ tail like some painful yet cute accessory.

Haven’t you heard? Eeveelution piercings are all the rage these days!

Is that how this battle would finally end?
