According to the matchup tracker, this opponent was going to be a tough one. Which was why Half-Moon had decided she would be the one to take it on, standing tall and proud beside her trainer like a bodyguard. Cardamom lifted up a hand to smooth down a bit of her fur that was sticking up. "It'll be alright," he reassured her. "Sure, the battles have been tough, but everyone's been really nice outside of them!" Now they just had to wait for their opponent to arrive.

Okay, Moltres had definitely not been on the list of "opponents he expected next." But Cardamom just nodded at the question, Half-Moon mimicking the action even as she stared up at the legendary with a frown. "Um...yeah, we are!" he said. Half-Moon slid one leg back to brace herself, preparing herself for whatever attack the legendary was going to open with.

Moltres, restless, opens with a powerful beat of its wings. Hot sand, one might even call it SCORCHING SAND whips up to bury the Obstagoon temporarily. Even Stormy covers her face for a moment, uncomfortable with the stinging sand.[break][break]

The Obstagoon nodded, shaking her head to get the burning grains of sand out of her fur as thoroughly as possible, before growling and swinging her claw, sending a Night Slash swinging through the air at the Moltres.

"Definitely! I admittedly haven't seen very many though. Sort of a shame, legendary Pokemon are just as eager to battle and enjoy themselves!"[break][break]

Though, admittedly, they far outclassed most Pokemon. Some might call that an unfair advantage- that was probably why the competitors got more points for having battled one.[break][break]

The HEADBUTT connects, forcing Moltres out of the sky. It was being cocky, overconfident, and had assumed that it could get out of harms way in time. Apparently not.[break][break]

It tumbles into the sand, coming up with a gasp to call upon the SUNNY DAY. The clouds, as non-existent as they may have already been, evaporate. The sun bears down on the group, the heat is sweltering.

"Yeah, though I've seen a Silvally in a previous fight. I think they do count as legendary too, right?" asked Cardamom, even as the sun started shining brighter and brighter. Well, Half-Moon had nothing to counter that, but also nothing that would be particularly affected. So it was just an extra advantage to her opponent. Taking advantage of Moltres having been knocked down, she immediately charged in with a second Headbutt.

Stormy refrains from mentioning her own Silvally though she really isn't sure why. Perhaps she'd assumed bringing it to battle kyle lopez had been some sort of taboo. Perhaps it wasn't. Perhaps these beast-killers didn't have the same reputation they once had.[break][break]

Moltres, with both wings now, uses them to buffet the incoming Obstagoon. It is still struck by the GUTSY black and white ball of piss and vinegar, but the deity has managed to lessen it to some degree. It was clear that the Pokemon was far more delicate face to face.[break][break]

Once again, it gathers the hot sand to pile on top of Obstagoon with a SCORCHING SAND.

"Yeah, Half-Moon was even there for that! Though Bam did most of the fighting against Silvally-she's my Riolu!" Meanwhile, Half-Moon was looking very annoyed. Man, fire she could take, but combining that with sand? It'd take forever to comb out of her fur. Annoyed, she drew back a bit, shaking herself and raising her claw to deliver another Night Slash instead.

Moltres effectively manages to dodge this next NIGHT SLASH. It passes over her as she utilizes her earlier TAILWIND. But it is close, close enough to leave Moltres' heart racing. There is a sharpness in the deity's gaze that suggests it is genuinely enjoying this battle.[break][break]

And that is why it blasts a super-heated, solar-powered SOLAR BEAM.
