Undeserved punishments excused with a lapse in memory, scenarios carefully crafted to ensure traps triggered. It was always mind-games with Calem Pollet. He'd had to walk on eggshells, for even his best behaviour was never good enough.

"I do," he confirms, ice dripping from his tongue. "My memory has never been lacking."

Gavin knew better than that. One of the few people who could see through the candy-coated charade of Calem.

"Is that all you need of me, sir?" Not that Calem had many places to be but he knew when to stop poking a bear.
