the hoenn star tournament had been a turning point for many people, but jayden most especially. he thinks of the various people that he had battled — thinks of contendors like Victor Wexler and KING WAYLAND , who provided plenty of admirable natural talent for the situations that they had found themselves in. he thinks of the obvious winners like Stormy Silph , kyle lopez , and Melody Miro .

Melody had been excited to reunite with Michail! His team was pretty nice during the volleyball match so she was excited to see what he could do with a full team of six this time around! Also no volleyball! Her assistant put a media badge around his neck and gestured for him to continue forward down the long hall. The room was dark and only a single spotlight followed him along "Yo!" she said as a spotlight also lit her up, she seemed to be sitting on a black surface raised slightly higher than his surface level. [break][break]

"So as you know, rules are pretty free form for bullet hell." she tells him "Only one of your Pokémon has to survive when the music ends! Anything else is pretty much free game as long as you don't hit my Pokémon back. Get creative! I love people who do something new!" she explains as she puts on her headset. "Now! Pick a genre from the ones listed on the paper and send out your team!" she says as the assistant hands him a paper with the genres available for the gym.

[attr="class","textbox"]it's not long before someone comes out to attend to him, but it isn't the gym leader just yet. he dips his head politely towards the staff member as they drape an id badge around his neck, and he finds himself looking down at the item, fingering the glossy edge. it reads michail volkov, as it should. still, the name can't help but bring a strange feeling settling in his stomach, as it always does whenever he sees his birth name.

[break][break] before he can get farther with the thought, however, there is a friendly shout and violet eyes lift up to notice Melody Miro across the stage.

[break][break] a ghost of a smile presses against his lips as he recognizes the familiar gym leader. just as it had been during the hst, she seems to be an absolute natural.

[break][break] he nods in understanding as she explains the rules to him, before tossing his pokeballs up into the air.

[break][break] of the items listed to him, he only recognizes a few of them. he considers them for a moment, before nodding towards the assistant, handing the piece of paper back. "classical will do," he says, with a polite dip of his head.

[break][break] sure enough, the battle eventually begins.

[break][break] a sharp whistle sends his murkrow flying through the air, belching out with HAZE. his dragonair uses TWISTER to set a wind barrier between him and their opponents, waiting for the other to start.

"Hippie, Maraca, Chatty, Missy, Dancer, Chime." She called as her Pokémon flew to their positions and classical music began to play. "classical huh? Well then that's an interesting choice for you mikail." she smirked at him as she was eager to see what he could pull off now. A bit of time had passed since they had played volleyball together so she wanted to see how his progress was fairing in terms of handling his Pokémon. [break][break]

"Alright guys! Let's start!" she shouted "Throw a wrench in their plan! Poison gas hypie! chime use safeguard" she called out as hypno released a quick burst of poison gas into the air, allowing it to be sucked into the twister to spread it around and safe guard to protect melody's team from being poisoned as a result of the move. "Hope you have an answer to this before we really get underway! Pin missle, mystical fire! Hyper voice!" she called out as gardevoir and mismagius fired a barrage of eerie fire into the twister haze combo and maractus's pin missles also caught on fire. However since their vision was obscured it would most likely miss, however hyper voice being sound in nature would have a harder time being defended against.

[break][break] jayden's voice is sharp, as it rings through the air. usually, he would've went for nonverbal commands, but if there was anything that his battle with Melody Miro had taught him during the hst, sometimes direct communication was better.

[break][break] as the barrage of twister turns rapidly poisonous, a mystical fire blazes through the air in front of them. it's quite the entourage, but jayden's hakamo-o is quick on the uptake. she lets out a mighty roar before her fists crash against the ground, throwing up an invisible barrier to PROTECT them.

[break][break] or at least, that was what it would seem at first. in reality, it was a distraction.

[break][break] a sharp whistle under his breath, and his murkrow zooms forward with TAILWIND. the sudden current blasts the fiery and poisonous twisters in the opposite direction — not a direct attack at melody's team, but at least veering the disaster away from jayden's.

[break][break] "now, dagr, do something about those flames." the dragonair shakes his tail, gathering a storm of grey clouds above them. the RAIN DANCE causes a downpour onto the fire that melody's team created, ending whatever flames could have further injured jayden and his pokemon.

[break][break] though, the dark-haired boy can't do much about the hyper voice, and unfortunately, the soundwaves blast through the barrier. he winces.

"Good!" she called out as his pokemon were quickly able to dispatch the majority of her attacks. However, that was only the intro to the battle. Once the attacks had calmed, music began to play and grew more and more dramatic as the roof of the arena opened up and phase 1 with partial edm began to play. Jayden would be able to hear a classical music track playing in the background growing louder and louder. "The battle will be split up into phases, as the battle moves along the song will change and continue based on your performance and on each phase reset." she grins. Will jayden be able to drown out Melody's performance or would her assault slowly destroy his team and his resolve to win? [break][break]

Water began to rain down and quickly put out the mystical fires that were launched towards his team. He dealt with the immediate thread and only tripped up when it came to looking for an option to deal with sound attacks. "Alright guys! Next phase! Psyshock, cotton spore, round, phantom force, moon blast!" she ordered as her pokemon then charged their attacks and sent out the next barrage in this bullet hell. [break][break]

Tempo's psyshock threw a barrage of psychic bullets at elektross [break]
Maractus used cotton spore on jayden's team, however due to the rain it was soaked and moved slower than the rest of the attacks. [break]
Chatot used round on everyone [break]
Missy uses phantom force and vanished from sight this round. [break]
Gardevoir launches moon blast at murkrow.
