After all that had happened lately, a break in the hot springs with the family was exactly what they needed. Seriously, bloody Groudon of all things in Lavaridge? He needed a vacation. But a day off in the hot springs would do. So since Izumi said bring the kids? Of course he brought the kids. Why wouldn’t he bring the kids?

Apparently everyone else thought the same thing.

“Surprised anyone would wanna be anywhere near the heat after the incident” Josh remarked to Izumi from behind her as he entered the booked spring. He urged the kids to get in slowly, but the little buggers wanted to rush. Hot-red rosy cheeks awaited them if they weren't careful.

Nostalgic indeed. It was the day they met they’d headed off into the hot springs in Lavaridge after a trainer mission they had gone on together. He had shamelessly flirted with this new female stranger all day long and he hadn’t shook her since. But considering they were now married, he didn’t seem like he wanted to shake her off after all.

Zack and Lyra of course nearly cannonballed in, but Josh caught them both by their underarms. They scrambled and writhed under his grip, but he would step back into the waters slowly before dropping them. If they weren't careful, they were going to end up with a little more than just rosy skin.

“Well, someone had to try just a little harder” he cheeked in turn.

It was a gentle drop, not much height, more of a plop than anything. The twins would make a face at him for spoiling their fun, but soon enough seemed content to just splash at one another. "Mind the splashing, it's too hot for that" he scolded lightly as he grabbed a pair of cool, pumpkin spice drinks and handed them to the kids. That seemed to calm them down well enough as they would sit and relax in the hot spring while they drank. It'd keep them placated for a bit anyway. The drinks were in plastic containers so nothing would happen if they were to drop them.

Handing Izumi a drink and grabbing one for himself, he would finally slide into the water. All the aches and sores from his work came up at once, and he loosed a mild groan as the waters washed over them. Then came a long, prolonged breath as he tried to relax.

"There we go."

Well, she was definitely one kind of brat alright.

Almost as hot as a Will-O-Wisp but far more relaxing, this definitely hit the spot. it really was just what they needed, especially after that whole Groudon business. Ironic considering they had nearly been burned to death, but well... What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? Josh settled down next to Izumi and gingerly squeezed her hand underwater, while keeping an eye on the kids as they couldn't sit still for long.

"Crazy to think that we'd be here after all this time, with kids. Nothing in the way, and nothing but time. Seems like years ago we'd have never even been able to dream of something like this."

“It feels like a lifetime ago, and yet at the same time, like it was just yesterday. Well, now we’re here again, except with kids” he cheeked in turn as he did his best to relax back. Relaxing was hard for him. He was always go go go, all the time. It was hard to sit back for too long without getting fidgety. So he squeezed and held onto her hand, as though it might anchor him down and remind him that he was supposed to be relaxing.

“Lord, don’t remind me that they’re going to be old soon. Then I’m going to feel old” he remarked with a laugh as he watched the kids closely, as though they could turn old in seconds and he’d never see those young faces again.

He rolled his eyes when bonked, before promptly flicking the side of her head. “We’re getting old, dear. We’re going to have to accept it. Soon enough we’ll be wheeling ourselves around, short of breath all the time. ‘Haaaagh, do ya rememba da good old days Izumi? Ah remember when ah didn’t throw up mah back all dah-Oh no, mah back! Mah back hast been thrown out again! Oh, the humanity!” came the exaggerated drama as he acted like an old man who’d just thrown out his back.

This at least seemed to get the attention of the kids, who started laughing uncontrollably.

I HAVE A BEARD A MILE LONG AND IT'S SO LONG AND GREY AND OLD!" he continued to dramatize, clearly hamming it up when he realized that he had gained an audience in the form of the children. He leaned against Izumi as he feigned struggling to walk. "Ah no, not mah back! How will I play the checkers for?"

He had to bury his face in her shoulder to contain her own laughter. Meanwhile, the kids had completely lost it in hysterics at this point.
