Knowing how such a worrywart the other would get if they stayed away for too long from the kids, the agreement was that they would have a date…

…in the hot springs area.

Now, they were no stranger to the hot springs (hell, they were regulars) however Izumi had literally asked for several favors so that they could have one all to themselves…

Along with packed bento boxes from their little roadside café restaurant of course.

(The alcoholic drinks would be coming from the hot spring owner’s secret stash so there you go.)

All she needed to do now was to wait for ~~the Chocobo-head~~ her hubby to show up. What was taking him so long?!

While the spiked milkshakes were being constructed in the kitchen, she would slip through a secret door exit through an equally discreet alleyway towards their house; passing by the parade of annoying Pichu (which she gave an incredibly wide berth) and a Marill running around.

Kids.

She then heard the yelling from not too far away, before whistling once and then saying, “What did I tell you two about letting Pokémon out of the front yard?! Go get them back inside!”

There were two equally-loud giggling screeches that came back, followed by two equally-noisy blurs that ran past screaming all manner of ‘Pikablu’ and such utter nonsense.

In the time it would take the spiked milkshakes to be made, she would make her way back with aforementioned photo album tucked under her arm as she carted out the two drinks to where Ozni was waiting.

“So… yeah, here, take a look for yourself. Ma kept all their pictures and. Good grief,” was all she would add as she set down the photo album and allow him to look through it for himself to see what debauchery their dad had been up to.

“Not unless like, some legendary Pokémon suddenly comes screaming out of the danged thing are we under direct fire,” she mused as she gazed at the peak of the volcano in the distance, “…however most days it’s quiet.”

She was not going to mention the time that Groudon had literally come bursting out of the damned thing, and she and the twins had to evacuate temporarily along with the entire café to another city because of the way aforementioned legendary Pokémon had almost made the volcano explode…

Alright, it was time to set a few things.

“Before she was a chef, she was one of those kimono-clad dancers back in Ecruteak, or Enju as it’s called in the other language,” she hummed.

“Well, you know how the old man’s got an eye for pretty ladies, and he absolutely fucking charmed her to leave her line of work, took her all the way here to Hoenn, got married, and then… they had me.”

There was a mirthless smile on her face after that fact.

“I found out about him being a little cheat when I woke up in the middle of the night one time, and I overheard them yelling about it. Then she sent him away. Kind of hard not to forget that when you’re like seven, eight years old. After that, we moved out here to Lavaridge, and she started using her maiden name again, and yeah my surname changed that time.”

Anything to hide from that despicable little…

“Give me like, a few minutes, I’ll get your shakes out shortly.”

(She would also retrieve one of the older photo albums while she was at it.)

thread summary: a family having the time of their lives when the Funtasia passed by Lavaridge City. Due to both parents being busy with their jobs, a rare weekend comes by and the entire family doesn’t have to go far to have fun and relax.[break]

why is it important?: Not everything’s all action and blood—let’s not forget taking a look at the day-to-day things that happens with a family that has kids! Josh Dragomir takes time off from work, and so does Izumi when the faire came through Lavaridge. They don’t have to go too far for things they forgot, so there’s that bonus too.

(bonus scene: the kids face their fear at the water log ride.)

Parents showing their kids around a faire and throwing games to make them happy? Part and parcel when it comes to raising kids in any universe, just add Pokémon (even if they’re NPCs for the moment) and of course it always ends with a girls vs boys contest (the girls won, of course).

“When I’m not on duty, or at elast when Lavaridge isn’t under threat of lava eruptions coming from Mount Chimney,” she continued to lighten the mood, “…I help out with the family café business. It’s a small thing, but it keeps my mom busy—she’s the manager and one of the chefs.”

She chuckled quietly at the Pokémon’s request before the other practically chastised them for asking for the same thing.

“You know what. I’ll get two. One spiked fruity milkshake for you, and… for you,” she continued as she stared at the humanoid metallic Pokémon (it had to be a Pokémon) “…they can have anything as long as it’s not spiked, right?”

She couldn’t help but chuckle at the quip about the pay.

“To be fair, really, my work salary’s going to the twins’ savings account they can access when they’re old enough to be responsible about it.”

Oh no, not this time.

There was this devious grin on her face as she already knew that she’d thrown the earlier game—no, she hadn’t thrown it but her husband did—and Lyra commenced pulling at the same time she did! Both sides looked pretty even—at least until Lyra got the idea of doing the ‘counting’ thing (something she must’ve seen with other kids at the playground) and she immediately cued in on that.

“Alright, let’s go! One, two—three!” she cheered on, both girls pulling at the same time and hoping they could throw their counterparts’ weight off-balance! With their synchronized pulling, she hoped they could—

“Heave-ho!” she yelled as she took on a pirate-like accent; with that hopefully the girls could throw the boys off balance!

At the same time, Lyra took on the part of being ‘pirate captain Izumi’s first mate’ and began yelling like a pirate too, hoping they could put a spin on their silliness and turn it into some kind of pirates versus pirates thing!

With a tremendous sudden pull that the other side was probably not expecting, a burst of force made her gain traction on the line and yank; did she see the boys fall down?

“We won, Mom!” she heard Lyra cheer a few moments afterward.

With folded arms over her chest, she sighed.

“You know, I agree with her,” she said in the redhead’s direction; hoping that the one in charge of the booth wasn’t the one to cause the trouble.

“I’ll take my guess, knowing this it must be some meme number like… I don’t know, four hundred and twenty?”

She knew she was way off the mark, but still… that looked way more than four hundred and twenty jelly beans.

“Nope, you’re wrong! Next!”

Ah well, at least she tried!

While they were wandering around, they happened to pass by the Tauros Rodeo booth where someone had just unceremoniously gotten bucked off.

However this one involved guessing the approximate number of the contents of a jar, and so far nobody had won yet.

So she was up next, and the contents of the jar were… no way.

“No fucking way, how the hell can I count all those?!” she muttered to herself, brow screwed up in concentration because she was facing down the single-largest jar of jellybeans she’d ever seen.

What made this worse is that she only got one guess… one chance to get it right.
