matias is the first to notice the sudden disturbance. it's subtle, almost too quiet to have been picked up, but he's quick to react.

"GUARD."

the shield of PROTECT enacts almost instantaneously, in time to shield them from the devastating impact of a METEOR MASH. the impact sends shockwaves rippling and through the commotion he sees its source: a clefairy.

just in time for GRAVITY to weigh down all around them. his knees buckle, catching his weight as he braces through the increased pressure. he looks over to virizion only to see her lunge forward with a LEAF BLADE, striking across clefairy to knock it away.

the lull allows matias to throw a safari ball, and upon capture, the GRAVITY around them normalizes.

it's odd to see a finneon that high in the air especially considering the GRAVITY that had just affected them, but he's definitely seen weirder things.

"UP?"

with no way for virizion to close the distance between the ground and the BOUNCE, she simply waits and bides her time with a SWORDS DANCE, preparing to lash out once it eventually falls back down.

which it does.

a LEAF BLADE sends it soaring back up and away.

the finneon's still ascending, soon to be lost behind dark clouds and likely forgotten. sorry, finneon, if only you were spawned for a different jujutsu kaisen face claim.

their next encounter, however, is definitely one of note.

"HOLD."

they won't need to fight this one this time. matias decides on an approach he doesn't usually consider, if only because battling it is a far more efficient method.

but for the cute pink mareep, he easily pulls out a sitrus berry and holds it out.

"it's okay, cutie. it's a sweet berry; virizion's favorite."

the grass-type huffs.

"and mine."

the mareep, though hesitant at first, eventually moves to gobble up the sitrus berry, leaking its juice all over matias' hand. he doesn't particularly mind, not when it's just so cute.

"good girl."

a gentle tap of the safari ball captures the mareep just in time to save them from the sudden stench that fills the air. he sniffs, turning to the right to see a trubbish peering from behind a bush.

"you good?"

as shy as it might be, it's brave enough to point at what remains of the sitrus berry.

"i have another. here."

after pulling another sitrus berry out of his pocket, he gently rolls it over to the trubbish. it waits for a few seconds, peering back and forth between matias and virizion before slowly approaching the berry.

it picks it up with both hands, pulling it into a hug.

"adorable."

for whatever reason, this trubbish isn't as stinky as some of the others he's encountered before. he's of a different shade as well, making him all the more special. but matias would love him all the same even if he's stinky or if he's of the regular shade of color.

"come here, boo."

trubbish, still with the sitrus berry in his arms, waddles over to matias and allows him to be picked up, pulled into an embrace as matias stands back up.

"alright. comfortable?"

trubbish nods, giggling a little as they start walking again.

eventually, they come across their last encounter, and after feeding the teddiursa the last of his berries, the normal-type practically clings to his leg, unwilling to let go even as they approach the exit of the safari zone.

"guess we're done here. let's go home."
