Mars had bought it for the sole sake of seeing what made it worth three times the price of a regular ticket, and it doesn’t take long for answers to come:

One which’s pale green colour seems strange under the dim light of the ELECTRO BALL, and also one that seems too preoccupied with a small berry bush.

Bringing his phone out, the man does a quick search through his pokédex app, and after a second or two, he nods – this being enough instruction for Notus.

The ELECTRO BALL is sent the bear’s way, and before its light fades, it is followed by a Safari Ball.

Then there’s complete darkness until the attack is used once again.
[break][break]
Maybe he should bring out a second pokéball so Notus won’t have to keep doing this over and over...

Either way, the Teddiursa will make a nice addition to his garden.

The Safari Ball now containing his new pistachio garden tender is picked up, and a handkerchief brushes away any dirt that might remain on it before it finds itself being minimized and pocketed.

The Hoothoot does as Hoothoot do best, and it hoots up above his head. Sitting on a branch, the golden-feathered bird watches him with its scarlet eyes, but Mars cares little for holding the gaze of the bird.

He has never been a big fan of most birds.

So, he keeps walking, his Alolan Raichu still holding an ELECTRO BALL in order to illuminate their surroundings while surfing through the air by way of its sheer psychic power.

In the distant darkness of the Safari Zone, an orb of light shines, approaching Mars and his Raichu at a steady pace while bouncing just so slightly up and down about two feet off the ground.

At first, Mars wonders if it’s the pokémon of another trainer, maybe even some child who happens to be holding down a flashlight, but the excited bleating that soon comes proves that what approaches them is no person at all…

It’s an overly friendly Mareep.
[break][break]
An overly friendly Mareep of pink wool, at that.
[break][break]
One that fearlessly comes closer to them and bleats at the Alolan Raichu as if attempting to become friends with him, the light at the end of her tail shinning bright.

It’s cute, and it makes Mars kind of feel guilty at the thought of ignoring it. So, he decides to catch it, bringing out one of his Safari Balls.

”Hey, you wanna come with us?”
[break][break]
The Mareep rubs its face against the hand that reaches to pet it, and the Safari-themed sphere is pressed against its forehead soon after that.

Maybe it would make a good gift for luka chêne, since it would sure fit her aesthetics, right?

In the light produced by the ELECTRO BALL he keeps walking, his Alolan Raichu floating close by him at all times. Mars wouldn’t really mind the darkness of the Safari Zone all that much, but being that he’s here to catch pokémon, it would be ineffective to walk with no light.

That is, at least, most of the time.

In the distance, under the moonlight, a Clefairy sits as if enjoying the crescent’s cold light, and for a moment, Mars watches it, noticing the bright green tips of its pointed ears. Another unusually coloured pokémon. All of them seem to be at this place, as he’s now confirming after four encounters.

After a few seconds and a picture snapped with his Rotom phone, he chooses to leave the Clefairy to enjoy the moonlight, walking away with his Raichu still by his side.

The sound of flowing water is impossible to mistake, and when near it, Mars finds himself drawn to it – looking for the source in the darkness. It doesn’t take long to find it.

Under the crescent moon, the water of the stream seems to almost shine, Mars stopping near its edge with his Raichu beside him. It’s then when he realizes that it’s not the water that’s shining, but the fish swimming within: a few luminescent pokémon that he easily recognizes as Finneon. Finneon that shine in pink hues. They’re beautiful, and since with their presence there doesn’t seem to be much need to his Raichu’s ELECTRO BALL for now, he turns towards it.

”Notus, use PSYCHIC to bring one of them out of the water.”
[break][break]
Using an electric attack in the stream would be devastating, after all, and Mars has no intention to harm the Finneon.
[break][break]
Making the ball of light disappear, the Raichu does as asked, carefully removing one of the fish from the water while disturbing the others as little as possible – they still scatter, but remain nearby.
[break][break]
Once this is done, Mars simply presses a pokéball against helpless and confused Finneon that has fallen unwilling victim to the Raichu's psychic power...

Not all pokémon encounters can be as nice as watching luminescent fish pokémon swim in the middle of the night. Sometimes, some will be ugly, some will suck, some will also smell really bad.

This one is the latter, because Trubbish is definitely the kind of pokémon that can be smelled from a distance.
[break][break]
The sheer stench of it makes him grimace, looking at the Alolan Raichu that meets his gaze while creating another ELECTRO BALL to illuminate their surroundings.
[break][break]
Just like the Mareep before it, this pokémon is also friendly, but its friendliness is not welcome. It’s a shame, since it’s honestly kind of really cute-looking, but the odor? The way it stinks? The pungency?

It’s all too much.
[break][break]
Enough for Mars to sigh and nod at his Raichu when the Trubbish appears among the bushes.

The ELECTRO BALL is thrown, and there’s complete darkness until Mars reaches for his Rotom phone. Then, he tosses a pokéball at the fallen sentient trash bag, because honestly, why not?

There might be some use for it, and if not, maybe he’ll just give it as a nice and lovely gift to someone who’s also kind of toxic. MATIAS SILPH, for example.
