After the gruelling time spent in the sauna, Lis realises that it just may not be for her. It isn't that she's faint of heart or weak to heat but rather, she dislikes the sensation of sweat all over her skin. The sheer humidity and stickiness is unpleasant, no matter how you try to cut it. Heavens know how Killian Decker had managed to talk her into trying it out...

While there don’t seem to be many people at the hot springs on this day, running into others comes as what is expected when stepping into the mixed baths. A towel hangs loosely from his neck, his swim trunks of a pristine black except for a single golden Meowth logo at one of the bottom corners. POG Bank limited edition merch, obviously.

When finding a spring of a suitable temperature, he steps in, his gaze falling on the girl sitting at the other side of it if only for a second.

A greeting of acknowledgement that comes with a polite smile, Mars of course having no idea of exactly who this girl is. Well informed as he may be, he can’t know everything, right?

Another person? And a man to boot. Her eyes are fixated on his presence, wide with surprise as silence fills the air. For a moment, she forgets to breathe and oh, is it quick to bite her back. Without warning, she jerks up, gasping and spluttering as she struggles to regain her breath. As soon as her lungs have filled with precious oxygen, her brain allows her to process what she's just done in front of a stranger.

Her cheeks are flushed, her gaze averted as she nervously takes her seat once more. This time, she doesn't allow herself to sink under the water but she sure as hell wishes she could disappear into the swirling depths of this hot spring, never to be found again... Okay, maybe not the last part but the point definitely remains!

Is it just her imagination or does he space out for a moment there? Her head cants at the way he blankly stares at her, worry briefly flickering through her mind but soon fading away once his attention seems to return.

Even with the distracting mention of the word, he still makes sure to pay close attention to her – never looking away from her as she gives him her response.

Killian has never mentioned having a sister before.

Not like there’s any reason why he should have, but it’s easy to realize that this is valuable information to have. Everyone has weaknesses and vulnerabilities, and those can often be the people they care about. Mars knows this better than anyone: it’s how he lost the person he once loved more than anything.

That doesn’t mean anything will happen to Amaryllis, though.

It doesn’t mean Mars would be willing to go that far.

It’s likely others would, but luckily for Killian’s sister, Mars has no reason to wish Killian any harm – for now. The information will be kept safely; stored in case it is needed later.

There’s more than a few personal things Killian has told Mars, especially the other day at a hot spring much like this one, but they just haven’t talked about family. Mars never likes talking about family, and yet, here he is now...

Also, can they really be called friends? Their friendship is transactional and full of distrust, but more often than not, that’s the most that can be expected when living this kind of life. It's not something he'd expect someone like Amaryllis to understand.

It’s with ease that he chuckles, smiling as he looks at her. Mars has always been one to be fond of conversation, even if it’s those casual and boring in nature. This one, however, may just not be as casual as it seems, for every single bit of information amaryllis karneva gives him is carefully written down and stored away for when he might need it later.

Still, despite his focus on this, the word rings like a bell in his mind; as delightful when she speaks it as it is whenever anyone says it to him lately. It’s distracting, but if he forces himself to push past the ringing, he can see what she meant to say to him.
