Interest in his own fishing line is abandoned in favour of watching Mars' war against his catch. That it wasn't aggressive was disappointing only for the lack of tension, but Gavin's still invested in the mystery of whatever's on the other end.

Big, but not aggressive...

"Not like, Wailmer big, I'd imagine."

Lack of aggression ruled out a lot of Gavin's favourite ocean finds.

For a brief, blissful moment, it's almost possible to forget this trip's purpose was to dump a body.

There’s a laugh, clearly enjoying himself despite the struggle that is attempting to reel in his catch. It sure is a battle, and Mars soon finds himself shifting his stance so his right foot is forward and pressing against the inner side of the hull. Truly, the pokémon isn’t even fighting back all that much, but it’s just big and as if dead weight that he’s attempting to pull onto the ship.

The Alomomola barely moves, its attempts at swimming away ever so useless and lacking in grace as it’s pulled to the surface, allowing waves to crash against its huge body.

"Arceus that thing is huge!"

Abandoning his own rod in earnest, Gavin steps up next to Mars to help him pull it over the side. The pair make a convincing sight as the Alomomola is hauled over the rail, landing with a dull wet slap onto the deck.

His first thought is one he pushes aside, but then he thinks of Tempest Quinn and smirks a little as he sends him a text.

Wanna see something really big?

Followed by a picture of the fish.

"What do you usually catch out here?"

His attention returns to Mars, a smirk still present on his features.

When they pull the huge fish up onto the deck, Mars can’t help but laugh; an honest and joyous sound that comes paired with a deep breath taken after all the effort that came with such a task.

”Right? The last time I saw one of these was when I went diving near Akala Island.”

The species probably isn’t even all that rare, but their poor swimming abilities make them easy prey for larger predators. It’s a shame, but seeing the way the Alomomola just lies on the deck while staring up at them with one huge eye, Mars can see why such a thing would happen.

”Hmm… Feebas, Magikarp, that sort of thing. There’s a whole lot of Sharpedo in Hoennian waters, and Carvanha that wander away from the rivers, so fish like this one can become easy prey.” While explaining, Mars sighs and sets his fishing rod aside, only to then crouch down next to the large fish and remove the hook piercing its lip. For how much he talks, he performs the task with gentleness and care. ”If you go deeper in the water you’ll find Huntail, Gorebyss, and so on. Also kind of a pain to catch.”

It’s then when Mars brings out a Dive Ball and presses it against the Alomomola – perhaps as a mercy to the poor fish. Once this is done, he looks at Gavin, smirking just so slightly.

”If that survived here, it may be a good place to drop our cargo… No Sharpedo or so to mess with it.”

Gavin appears genuinely interested in Mars' knowledge, listening intently with the full force of his gaze locked on the admin. He was a sponge when it came to knowledge, even things he might never again use.

But in this case, knowledge of the Hoenn waters comes in useful for the darker task that had sent them here in the first place.

A curt nod of agreement precedes Gavin vanishing into the cargo hold of the ship, returning with their burden. Weights will drag it down to the depths of the Hoenn ocean and see it rot, should things go according to plan.

"Help me lift it over the side."

Gavin was strong, but hoisting a weighed-down corpse was an awkward task.

Not like it had ever been an actual fishing trip to begin with, just the illusion of it. Mars finds himself thinking that it’s somewhat of a shame, but at the end of the day, they’re here to perform a task, and when it comes to Team Rocket, the mission always comes first – for him, at least, for this is the sort of mentality that has been instilled into him.

So, the Dive Ball is put away and the fishing rods are set aside, and when Gavin returns with their lifeless burden, there are no longer any smirks or smiles.
[break][break]
”Sure.” He does as asked and grabs onto the bottom portion of the corpse, helping with lifting it up over the ship’s gunwale and down into the ocean. There’s a familiar splashing sound, all too heavy and loud thanks to the weights, and even though many would look away, Mars does not, instead watching to make sure the corpse sinks.

Too many complications can happen when disposing of a body, so it’s always better to be sure. Another thing that was taught to him long ago.
