What was it about Snorlaxes that made them so damn inclined to lie right where people wanted to be?[break][break]

Verdanturf had it’s issues any day being so tucked away - there was the tunnel and all, sure, but it always seemed like the kind of place that mostly kept to itself. Had it’s positives, considering the place was so cutesy-wutesy picturesque village-style, but also some negatives, such as when a snorlax decided to plant it’s great ass right in the way of one of the only two roads in.[break][break]

With Myszko’s little feet gripping the skin around Izzy’s neck, and his tail flicking at the fabric of his hoodie, he couldn’t help but think if the Salandit’s little hisses and grumbles were his way of saying are you seriously going to try and get me to move that thing?. It did seem like… potentially an issue, after all.[break][break]

Hopefully whoever was helping out would turn up with a full clip of metagross or something and everyone could go home nice and quickly with their wallets a little fatter and no wrenched muscles from trying to slap a snorlax out of the way.

How hard could it be to get rid of a single pokémon, right?

After all, it’s not like Snorlax are heavier than most pokémon out there and incredibly difficult to wake, right? Except that, well… they are, and that’s exactly what Lia realizes when reading the pokémon’s entry in her Rotom phone’s dex app – right before leaving Lilycove’s Ranger HQ, thankfully.

Ranger cadets aren’t born encyclopedias on pokémon and pokémon behaviour, but Lia is learning, and it’s this newly acquired information that helps her come up with a possible plan. One that involves a stop by Dodrio’s Pizza when heading over to Verdanturf on her Pidgeot’s back.

Half a dozen pizza boxes and also a couple of smaller ones.

That’s what our ranger delivery girl is holding when they finally land at the entrance to Route 117, carefully hopping off her Pidgeot’s back before her gold-coloured gaze falls on the guy standing nearby. Looking at him over the small tower of boxes, she offers a gentle yet polite smile.

”Hey! Here because of the Snorlax?”

Izzy had expected a partner to arrive to help move this sleepy Snorlax, since, like, that's kind of how jobs like this worked. He didn't, however, expect to see... what, a moving tower of pizza boxes? A tower from behind which a little face peeked round, and a voice peeped up. Izzy raised a brow. "Uh- yeah. Obviously, right? Are... you?" He took a moment to size up her pile of boxes.[break][break]

"Guess that's for the Snorlax, right?" There was a tiny smile there, alongside the idea that... well, maybe there would perhaps be some leftovers? If even a slice could be salvaged from the jaws of a hungry snorlax, then... well... it might be nice to get a quick meal. But in truth, feeding the thing until it disappeared seemed a better idea than trying to move it in any other way, no matter how much Myszko wanted to try chewing on it's great feet to get it going.[break][break]

The little Salandit now, in fact, seemed focused heavily on the scent of the fresh pizzas, intense as a laser. A little squeak escaped his mouth at the ranger's direction, as if to say, 'is for me?'

Without waiting for a response, the small tower of pizza boxes is transferred over to his hands, Lia then allowing herself a few seconds to stretch up before looking over at the Snorlax.

”It’s sound asleep, huh? That’s alright, it should wake up soon, Snorlax eat a whole lot everyday.”
[break][break]
Over four hundred kilograms of food, to be exact, and they can eat just about everything out there.
[break][break]
With a slight smirk, Lia reaches for one of the smaller boxes, opening it up only for the delightful scent of cheesy garlic bread to fill the air. ”I’m hoping that the smell of the pizzas and everything else will wake it and lure it away from the path, so we should put them close-by but not close enough for it to just go right back to sleep where it’s now.” The explanation comes easily – too easily, perhaps. Almost as if she knows exactly what she’s doing and not like this is a plan she came up with in the spur of the moment.

Her next actions could make any garlic bread lover cry, because the box is placed right on the grass.

Despite all of her outwards confidence, in her mind, Lia raises a quiet prayer to whatever god may be listening at the time.

He barely had a chance to say 'hold up a minute' before the boxes were passed over, and Izzy struggled to grip them for a moment, almost daring the tower to wobble and fall before straightening up. He let out a sigh, and then listened as the girl before him spouted off a paragraph of information like she was a walking Pokedex.[break][break]

"Huh... I mean, sounds like that'll work. Better than my idea, anyways" Because, like, what kind of moron was he for his first idea at taking on a Snorlax to be brute force? That would never work! That thing weighed more than his fucking apartment, for Arceus' sake.[break][break]

"Right, so-- y'want me to wait until it's up, then start dotting down pizzas like a track or something?" He spoke up, as he watched Lia put the box of garlic bread down on the grass. Myszko would have grieved the tainting of a delicious meal, if it weren't for the fact that eating it off the floor wasn't that bad a thing to him.[break][break]

In truth, Lia had only thought of this plan halfway through, because she simply had assumed using a bunch of delicious-smelling food would be a good way to wake the Snorlax and get it to move. What comes after that? How will they get it to stay away from the road?

”A path could work. Although… I think I may want to try to catch it!” Despite the confident way in which she smiles, her answer surprises even her, but it’s one that makes sense. After all, otherwise the Snorlax could come down to the road and cause trouble once again. They need to make sure it stops, and what better way than getting it to leave this place?

”Alright, Otto! How about a nice breeze to take the smell of these to the Snorlax?”

Naturally, the Pidgeot does as asked without a problem.
