Izzy held one bag of groceries under one arm while trying to juggle Myszko with the other. He was acting bratty and refusing to walk, or even to perch on Izzy's shoulder like he usually did when he got tired. Today, though, he was desperate to be held, and the Gods themselves would smite he who came between a Salandit and his comfort.[break][break]

The backstreets back to his apartment were often empty of people, aside from other lowlifes or the odd drug deal. Pokémon, though, were a little more bold in this part of town. More willing to snap at your ankles and steal your ramen - Izzy knew this from experience.

Since they'd last spoke, he'd done much better, in truth. The wound had healed, his ribs were secured, everything was much less painful than it had been. He'd also spent an evening all skin and tongues with BARNABY FINCH , which still tore at the corners of his mind when he thought too hard about it, and he doesn't want to go bright red in front of Elisabeth, so instead he just nods.[break][break]

"Doin' better, yeah. Everything's all healed up. Little bruising still there, but nothing bad" He nods again in approval of his little health statement, then the topic moves on swiftly, which both Izzy and Elisa are thankful for in different ways.[break][break]

"Yeah, no worries, you got it down. All casual and everything." His own outfit is casual too, just a hoodie and some ripped jeans, but what else did he ever wear? Most of his ripped jeans never even started that way, after all, and came from general wear and tear, or just from Myszko wanting something to chew on.[break][break]

Despite his awkwardness, the way Elisa describes the burgers on the menu as though they're secret codewords makes him smile, and the way she looks up at him like she desperately needs someone to bail her out draws a laugh from his lips. It's just so unexpected - but so much a world she isn't part of.[break][break]

He can understand it, of course, but to see her confidence waver like his own often did was funny as fuck in a kind of comforting way. "Oh... They do have salad, but it's like... with the amount of weird sauce shit they put on it, it's basically worse for you than the burgers" He peers at the menu for a moment, tapping his chin in thought.[break][break]

"So... a Black City Blast has like, a super spicy sauce; the Castelian is basically a quarter pounder with bacon, and the Nimbasa Deluxe - that one's kinda fancy, got all the works, that kinda thing. If you want my recommendation, eh... Nimbasa is probably best. Driftveil Fillet is fish, if you like that, too"[break][break]

He looks back to her, that tiny smile still dancing in his eyes a little. If he'd given himself time to think about it, Izzy would be surprised about how excited he was about spending time in a place like this with someone like Elisabeth. It was almost normal.[break][break]

"How come Silph's paying for this whole gig, then?" He broaches the topic bluntly.

Would he regret it in time? Maybe. Maybe the Spectrier would draw him back into sleepless nights forever at the slight of being handed off to a stranger, and maybe Izzy would deeply miss it's presence in the back of his mind. But he also didn't feel comfortable or confident enough to have it at his side like his other pokémon were - it was too much to cope with.[break][break]

Instead, he could quite easily trade it off to Admin del Mar, and maybe on the odd day or so get a chance to say hello again. Just something quick and simple like that would please him well enough.[break][break]

"Thank you, sir" Izzy nods once, politely, then scans his eyes over the curve of the ball he'd just handed over.[break][break]

"He... likes carrots. If you can get them, the... shade-y ones. He doesn't like you riding him unless you warm him up first, like - gain his trust. He likes berries... um, I found he likes the spicy ones." He lists off a few things he remembers about his time with Spectrier, with the tiniest of smiles decorating the corners of his lips. It was sad but sweet to see the legendary go - like sending a kid off to college.[break][break]

"Depends on the thing, I guess" He shrugs back. Izzy liked to believe things he'd seen personally - things he could see or touch. It was one of the reasons he'd never been particularly religious, despite his parents both being quite devout. He had no proof, no divine intervention at the shitty points of his life - so why would he? Same thing with spooky poltergeists and the like.[break][break]

Izzy's introspection is brought back down to earth when Jessie admits she didn't kick the ball and starts looking around. He furrows his brow. "Well, I didn't either..."[break][break]

So there was something here, then... some lone little stowaway, maybe? Human or pokémon, either seemed more likely than a ghost. But then... what if...[break][break]

Izzy shook his head. He wasn't gonna start thinking that Jessie was right, now, was he? He throws down a pokéball to release his Noibat and gives her the order to start frisking the place for clues.[break][break]

"...You don't think it actually could be something weird, right...?" He asks.

The last time had happened by accident - wandering around lost until Vic had offered his campsite as brief respite, but this was an organised thing, and Izzy was biting his nails to the quick in anxiety.[break][break]

First, he'd texted him. That in itself was extraordinary - Izzy didn't like to text anyone, because it was like talking to them, and Izzy didn't like to talk to anyone, either. Secondly, they'd talked about kissing, and feelings. Thirdly, they'd arranged to meet up again, and to going camping together. All three of these were awful and bad, and Izzy really wished they hadn't happened.[break][break]

Despite that, though, he had diligently picked out things that might be useful out in the wilderness, dressed appropriately, and read and re-read his week-old conversation with Vic to make sure he hadn't missed anything. In a way he wasn't going to admit to himself, he was pretty excited. He'd grown up in the dirtiest, dankest parts of a bustling city - camping was not an experience he'd ever really had, not like this.[break][break]

The spot is all picked out - Vic knows the area like the back of his hand, after all - and they'd agreed to meet there. As he arrives, Izzy can feel his heart pounding in his chest - what if this was just some big prank? What if Vic was going to text him a quick gotcha! and laugh at him for being stupid and gullible? Or, less intensely, what if this just ended up sucking and neither of them had any fun?[break][break]

Was Elisabeth fucking FERNANDO SILPH?[break][break]

She was rich, he was rich; she was all calm and collected, he was all calm and collected. And apparently he was paying for her to take randos out to get food... which, like, that wasn't a thing people with platonic relationships did, right? Or, fuck, Izzy didn't know, maybe it was. Maybe it was just some weird rich person thing he didn't get.[break][break]

Either way, it was a free meal - and a good one at that. Izzy could only survive off of ramen from the reduced aisle for so long before his digestive system attempted a full-scale mutiny, so actual food from an actual food place sounded nice. He wasn't versed in real restaurants or anything fancy like that, so he chose the Liberty Burger not too far from where he lived. Reminded him of home - the good parts of home, at least. Liberty Burger threw out some totally edible stuff all the time.[break][break]

He arrives and, despite his introversion, is relaxed by the bubbly customer-servicey atmosphere in the place. The waitress is beaming and bubbly, a bright smile that begged for tips, but it was at least a smile. Service staff in Unova had always been pretty unique compared to other places - it felt weird to be feeling it again, but not in a bad way.[break][break]

He's shown to his seat and meets eyes with Elisabeth Fiorelli as he wanders over, offering her a polite smile. To others, Izzy's attempt at a smile might seem rude, something done out of necessity, but perhaps Elisabeth could pick up on the fact that Izzy wasn't one to smile out of social contract. He just genuinely liked her.[break][break]

"Hey" He takes a seat and flips up a menu to scour, then looks back at her. "Huh. You look all casual. Not, like-- uh- not in a shitty- I mean, bad way." It was surprising, though - Elisabeth was always so pretty, with her dresses and her skirts and her long blonde hair, but now she was wearing jeans and a ponytail. It was surprising, but Izzy's words put through a translator were just you look nice.[break][break]

Everything was happening so much, and so very all of the time. It was overwhelming, but not quite in the way that a panic attack was - in fact, it almost felt nice to be this overwhelmed, to tap out, to let someone else take control. Izzy not having to think about anything beyond how nice this all felt was a relief, in a way, though he was subconsciously aware that this would only lead to more confusion in the coming days.[break][break]

Confusion like, was he really gonna be okay with this? The act itself was fine - daunting, nerve-wracking, exciting, but fine. He wasn't quite ready to go all the way anyway, but there was still undoubtedly something that was going to occur. Izzy wanted it badly, especially from Bee, but... what if he ended up liking him? It would be all-too vulnerable, all-too embarrassing. And also makes things difficult when Izzy's whole mantra is avoiding connection with fellow rockets.[break][break]

Though, he was already pretty damn connected to him right now...[break][break]

"R-right... Why's it when you say slower it sounds like you're still teasing me...?" He laughs nervously, just a little, then swallows hard as Bee rearranges, and places one hand over his own mouth in anticipation of anymore stupid noises he may make. Okay. So this was really happening. There's a kiss, and, uh, yeah, this is really happening.[break][break]

It takes a little moment for Izzy to work up a response, not that Barnaby really needed one at this point - Izzy was practically melting into his touch. A low whine reveals itself as all inhibitions fade, and Izzy gives in.[break][break]

"Please."[break][break]

It passes all too quickly, and painfully slowly - caught up in feelings, Izzy doesn't have too much time to overthink when he's being spoilt and kissed and touched in this hungry, sweet way. Things swap, at Izzy's insistence - he wants to try. No good at it, he'll laugh at you, you won't even be able to make him... you know.[break][break]

But worries are only so far, and Bee is - despite the teasing - kind. And true to his word, more importantly, things are kept slow and manageable. No matter how much Izzy wants to (in the moment) give in fully, he knows he's not ready for that yet, and it's a little scary, and Bee doesn't push or pressure. Despite the anxiety that nibbles at the back of his throat... it's nice. Intense, too - deeply intense, but nice.[break][break]

When everything's done, he falls back onto the couch, almost entirely unaware of the dull ache from his ribs. He breathes out slowly, a little shaky after everything, and lays exhausted for a moment.[break][break]

"...Fucking hell"[break][break]

Izzy faces up, drunk without alcohol, and watches the ceiling swirl. So much to think about, but despite it he smiles. "...That was kinda, eh... y'know. It was... fun" He sits up to look at Bee, and the smile lingers, spreading further across his flushed cheeks. "...Thanks, Bee. Not for that, ahaha... o-or, well I mean, yeah, but also just... coming 'round in general."
