Is it really a good idea to have him join her for this? Lia wonders if he’d get bored or annoyed, even though there’s obvious things to expect when being told they’re going shopping. Such as, for example, trying on clothes, which she intends to do, but on the bright side, at least she has never been too picky about things like those.

She gives him a smirk, teasing, but she makes a point to keep to herself exactly what the dress is for. At least she will for now, since it doesn’t seem like the sort of thing Lance would care much for speaking about. Then again, who knows, maybe he plans on going to the soiree too.

Is it exciting?

To Lia, trying on clothes has always seemed kind of tedious, which is why she has never been picky about things like those. But, there is something fun about buying new things, and also something nice about the thought of Lance seeing her trying on all sorts of cute cocktail dresses.

It sounds fun.

Especially when he stands so close to her, saying things like those.

His smirk is mirrored by her own, and passingly so, her fingers just so barely brush against his as they walk.

briefly, as they walk past a particular clothing store, memories come fluttering back, and though they bring with them guilt and hurt, this time he doesn't attempt to push them away.[break][break]

he simply sighs, reaching out for her hand instead.[break][break]

"i will. maybe i'll even pick out a few."

While she’s all too preoccupied with looking at storefronts, he takes her hand, and inevitably so, it's a slight and gentle smile that tugs at her lips when he does as much. Delicate fingers intertwine with his, squeezing just so slightly.

”Greedy, but sure, as long as they’re cute dresses.”

Of course, she doesn’t bother with explaining what exactly she considers ‘cute’, but he’ll soon find out anyway once they arrive at the store...

Upon entering, the employee who offers to help is waved away with a smile, and she simply pulls Lance towards the nearest clothes rack that’s filled with all sorts of cocktail dresses of sparkling and shimmering fabrics.

even before they enter the store, lance already has a vague idea of the type of dresses he'd expect to find in a store like this, and also the dresses he'd end up picking for her to try on.[break][break]

there'd be good choices, of course, but he'll also pick one that's maybe a little too skimpy if only to tease her.[break][break]

and to see her in it.[break][break]

so it's with ease that he follows her towards the clothes rack, smiling as he sifts through the various options.[break][break]

"hmm. what's your favorite color?"

As she looks through the rack, it’s easy to find the pieces that appeal to her the most, yet she still takes a couple of dresses she thinks she may find cute, looks at them, and puts them back – only one of them remaining hanging from her forearm.

Turning to him, she smirks, soon returning her attention to the rack.

"I don't like anything too shiny or too uncomfortable, if that helps. Form-fitting is fine, though."

Might as well give him some clues, right? Since it wouldn't be too great if she hated every single thing he chose for her.

he could make an educated guess by looking at the few dresses she picks up; maybe her favorite color's in there somewhere. but he chooses to just trust his gut and guess, taking a shot in the dark.[break][break]

either way, he starts pulling various dresses off as well to look at them. eventually, he ends up with four.[break][break]

he extends them towards her.[break][break]

She smiles, softly so this time, and without another word, she heads for the fitting rooms.

it definitely is just like any other color, and he had only picked it because he thought she'd look good in gold. he still thinks that, of course, which is why one of the dresses he picks for her is gold in color.[break][break]

it's with a smile that he watches her walk off into the fitting rooms. he follows after, lingering nearby to make it not too awkward for her to have to walk across the whole store just to show him her dress.[break][break]

his dress choices are: gold, black, teal, and one black one that's particularly tight.

There’s a smirk at her lips when calling back to him, but this is quickly followed by a sigh once actually stepping into the fitting room. The dresses are hang up, and she finally gives herself a chance to properly look at his choices, considering her options before deciding to first go with one she picked herself.

Can’t give him everything he wants right away, can she?

Still, when she steps out, what she’s wearing is a slip dress of a light green satin. It’s simple, but formal enough. Light, as if it falls right onto her – her all too petite figure being accentuated by it.

With a hum, Lia looks at herself in the mirror, holding her hair up to see what it would look like if she styled it like that.

”Thoughts?”

She turns back to look at Lance when asking this, and of course, she smirks.

inevitably, his mind wanders to those memories, to a much simpler yet happier time. dress shopping isn't new to him, neither is coming to the mall, but there's a reason why he hasn't done any of those things since arriving in hoenn.[break][break]

Even if compliments are to be expected in this sort of situation, it still makes her smile, a gentle and slight blush reaching her cheeks because she’s suddenly all too aware of just how closely he has to look at her for this. Not like she minds, though. Not like there’s anything there that he hasn’t seen…
