While her parents didn't live exactly by the ocean, it was only a short walk from her childhood home. One which she'd travelled countless times in her youth to play in the shallows. And then, later, as she learned to sail and dive.

"I don't think my parents ever expected to raise a sailor. They're historians, y'know. Scholars. Both of them. It was the shock of their lives when I turned out the way I am. Pretty sure that's why I'm an only child." Familiar humour lines the edge of her words, as if reciting the lines to a joke she's told countless times before.

"Grandma would probably like you." Didn't he own a casino? Don't most rich guys own one?

A sharp whistle brings both Libra and Svernos close, along with her equipment. She hesitates for a heartbeat at the tank at her feet, fully aware that it's unneeded but picking it up anyway. She might be willing to share some things with Mars, but Kyogre was definitely not one of them.

Beyond the veil of darkness that edges her lamp, Dhelmise finds another victim. Seaweed tendrils creep around a sleeping Crawdaunt, whose struggles abruptly cease when its vitality is stolen. Dinner, maybe?

She'd have to ask angelo vestri.

"Are you staying?" She straps her diving equipment with fast, efficient motions - hesitating only when she realizes she's actually enjoying the conversation.

Even though Mars would never admit to it (not even to himself), there’s a slight pang of jealousy when hearing Skyler talk about her parents. She might be talking about how different she is from them, but the fact that she can compare herself to them like that, that she knows them so well, and can joke around… it sounds nice, and also surprisingly normal coming from someone like her.

”Ha. Parents usually do love me, and grandmas especially.” He smirks, clearly joking even though his words do come from a place of truth. Rich and successful guy who is also charismatic and smart? That’s the sort of person most parents usually like, and it’s something his younger self took advantage of one too many times.

He would ask more about Skyler’s family, finding himself to be genuinely interested in what they must be like, but suddenly and unexpectedly, there’s the loud sound of a Politoed’s HYPER VOICE. Mars winces for a mere second and Calliope doesn’t seem too pleased either. As she makes clear by tossing the Wartortle straight towards the green toad. Nothing like using brute force to get one’s point across, no?

It’s with a sigh that he tosses a couple of pokéballs towards the fallen pair, and only once this is done he looks at his watch.

”Nah, it’s getting late and I don’t have that much free time.” Mars grabs his gear too, but before putting it on, he looks at her. ”It was nice seeing you here, Skyler… Though maybe next time let’s not meet in a cave.”
