When melody was able to read about giona ferrara 's gym challenge she got really excited! In a double battle taking place in a hallway, space was key! So this team was built around that! Pokemon who were smaller yet still could pack quite the punch (literally!). She arrived at the Lobby in the gym and let out a loud whistle as she was impressed with the lay out. [break][break]

She presented her I.D to the front desk and allowed whoever it was there to guide her to the proper spot to face Giona, the hairs on the back of her neck began to stand up though as she felt like someone was watching her already.

Melody went down a series of tiled halls, glared at by lightbulbs with indigo filters over them. The floor was tiled as well, and each surface had the telltale sheen of having been recently cleaned. The entire gym smelled of mint, meant to overlap with the cool, dry air circulating through the place.

The hall ended in a room. A large square shape, with pillars a few square feet inward from each corner, to make the room feel smaller than it was. Around the corner, Giona walked from the square room to meet her in the hall.

"...I'm so glad that you could make it. I can't imagine the kind of stress you've been under lately." He said, offering a grin to Melody. Though he had kind of a thin face, even looking a little anemic, this grin didn't move the skin around his eyes.

Sheepishly hiding the faces on his pokeballs with closed fists, he brought out a Drakloak and Rotom. A little crested lizard and a wisp. Both looked like they could be carried off by a stiff breeze.

Giona completely forgot that the much larger, square arena was behind him.

Melody smiled as he had shown empathy to her. "Oh, don't be. It's fine." she said tilting her head and offering him a warm smile. Melody honestly hated how people were acting in Sootopolis now, it's why she mostly stayed away from there unless she HAD to go to do a gym challenge or meet someone from the league. She only felt safe in her gym. [break][break]

She let out a small cough afterwards "But don't worry about me, I'll be fine! Let's just have fun in this gym battle!" she said remembering that she was told it would be taking place in a hall way and that he already had his pokemon out she sent out her own. Drakolak and Rotom huh? Ok then Melody was going to go with Joltik and Ferroseed! [break][break]

Ferroseed hit the floor with a plunk noise as it's barb broke into the tile. "Oups..sorry!" she apologized as Joltik was running along the walls and the roof already. [break][break]

"Are you ready?" she grinned allowing him to have the first move as both her pokemon seemed eager to begin.

Melody stopped in the hall. A big iron bead hit the ground, its barbs digging into the tiles. Overhead, a bug skittered around. Giona smiled, looking at it. He forgot for a minute that he spent too much time at work. That he was unintentionally growing his hair out.

Giona whistled a series of short, ascending notes. His Drakloak opened with Infestation on Ferroseed. A sudden rumbling under the tiles, more numerous but less intense than Ferroseed falling. Rotom opened with Confuse Ray on Joltik. A series of flashes of light.

"...You don’t need to be sorry. I’ll smooth it out with some sandpaper later. I appreciate the concern." He said, offering a grin to Melody. Though he had kind of a thin face, even looking a little anemic, this grin didn't move the skin around his eyes.

He then hastily shoved the pokeballs he’d used back into his pockets. Kohl-black like the Rocket uniform, but he’d taken pains to try to obscure the red R on their faces. Even under the fluorescent lights.

The battle slowly ground to a start. Giona reached a hand up to play with his earrings, and was stunned for a minute by the length of hair coming back in. A choice to either buzz it or not would have to come up. In all truth, he ran out of things to talk about right away.

"...So. Did you do anything fun on Halloween?"

She didn't really manage to get a good look at the pokeballs but she did notice they were a unique color. "Oh! Custom designed pokeballs! That's really cute. I'm partial to dive balls myself!" she said surprised that Giona would even care about expressing himself in such a manner! [break][break]

However in that mere moment giona had already gained the upper hand, quickly using infestation on her ferroseed. On top of that Joltik was disoriented now from the confuse ray. Yet luckily for melody, she had already thought about taking care of this in a unique way. "Alright yall! Duet time! Electro web! Gyro ball!" she ordered however instead of using electro web on one of the opponents Joltik aimed it at Ferroseed and didn't do the combination attack correctly as it prematurely cut the chord! "Joltik no!" she shouted as Ferroseed looked to recover for his partner. "Damn we're gonna have to save pendulum for later. Gyroball anyways Ferroseed!" she quickly shouted [break][break]

Ferroseed begun to spin rapidly, picking up the electrified webbing on it's body to try and kill the infestation slightly while aiming to slam into Drakloak to cause some damage since Ferroseed was a MUCH slower Pokémon.
