wailmer (m) pressure - water gun, growl, amnesia, water pulse

zarude (-) leaf guard - power whip, hammer arm, jungle healing, synthesis, grass knot, bind

nautilus! matias remembers meeting him during that time she helped him get across the region on her boat. it was fun even if they ended up taking a little detour.

"so he's the flying wailord i've heard so much about."

he chuckles, believing in the tales even before she confirms it for him. it's not unlike wailords to know how to BOUNCE high up in the air.

"think you could take him in for a while? make sure he grows up okay?"

it's then that a woobat lands atop his head, smelling like FISH. doesn't luka chêne have one? is he misremembering? either way, he reaches a pokeball up to bop against it, attempting to catch it by surprise.

"Sure, it shouldn't take too long. He'll be back before you know it." And it's not like this would take a big chunk out of her daily schedule, not when she had 40-something assistants helping her out. In less than a month Matias' Wailmer would be doing the rounds with the rest of them.

Her reputation pretty much demanded it.

An abrupt croak steals her attention away from the current conversation. Turning in the direction of the sound, Skyler can barely see the bulbous shape of a Seismitoad obscured by nearby bushes. Was it trying to ambush them? Huh.

Skyler throws a pokeball, hoping to catch it by surprise.

The tiny Tirtouga is still snoring softly on the captain's shoulder when she shifts to address Matias again. "I also heard," seen, actually, "that you were chosen by a legendary." It had been televised, after all.

"oh, yeah."

sometimes he forgets how that whole event was televised. a smile forms at the memory. much simpler times than they are now.

he pulls out a berry, tossing it over to skyler.

"here. toss it up in the air whenever you're ready."

Matias' request is bizarre at best, but Skyler doesn't question it. The descending arc of the berry is abruptly interrupted when she catches it effortlessly in her outstretched hand.

"You know, I've seen some weird things here in Hoenn - but that might be up there with the rest."

And while her expression wars between curiosity and soft disbelief, the captain ends up shrugging and tossing the berry high up into the air. After all, who was she to doubt legendaries when she had a connection of her own?

She's too distracted to notice the approaching Seadra and its panicked expression, even when it all but jumps onto the sand at her feet to get away from a particularly hungry (or playful) Wailord.

She'd eventually find it fainted and capture it with a pokeball.

virizion (-) justified - sacred sword, leaf blade, smart strike, protect, stone edge, magical leaf

high up into the air the berry goes, and as it starts to dip down, descending, a flash of green whizzes past them, seemingly from out of nowhere, and virizion's leaping across to catch the berry before landing right next to them.

"virizion, skyler. skyler, virizion."

a single MAGICAL LEAF flies towards skyler, perhaps a token of gratitude for the berry.

briefly, matias turns his attention away to see zarude with a wild applin in its hand. he shakes his head, then tosses a pokeball at it, saving it from being crushed by the monke.

Skyler barely sees the tall, graceful shape as it arcs above them, sweeping the berry from her palm in one swift motion. A calloused hand reaches up to catch the Magical Leaf however, wonderment hidden momentarily behind its green surface.

"Virizion." Grinning, the captain sweeps her eyes over the Legendary and their chosen human, wondering at any similarities between the two. "Pleasure to meet you."

The surf brings with it another victim of Skyler's horde of Wailord. The Walrein rolls out of the water in attempt to escape an overly playful Wailord, just in time to be caught by the captain's pokeball.

Silver shifts over to Matias. "Interesting choice there."

the only apparent similarities between the two is their apparent fondness of being in the spotlight. and their beauty, of course, but that doesn't need to be said. the pink of his hair compliments virizion's own.

virizion dips her head in greeting, then leaps away to approach a staryu far away from them, leaving trails of MAGICAL LEAVES behind her as she runs. a few seconds pass before she's returning with the staryu nestled comfortably on her back, its orange-brown skin now green due to its CAMOUFLAGE.

"it's been an interesting few months since we last met."

matias picks up the staryu, then extends it over to skyler.

She still remembers their conversation in a rowdy seaside pub - not the last one, but the one before that. When the whispers of war had just started to rise within the populace of Sootopolis. She'd refused war then, but she'd been in denial.

You don't get to choose when war knocks on your door. But by Arceus, Skyler would try her damn best to. Hence why she hadn't taken sides, even after Sootopolis.

Ideals always died a swift death when faced with survival.

"Interesting is one way to put it." Taking the weirdly complacent Staryu into her hands, Skyler shoots a grin up at Matias. "Groudon's appearance, Rocket taking over Sootopolis - how's that going, by the way? Will the League try to take it back under their jurisdiction?"

Matias isn't too keen to reveal what might be considered classified League information and Skyler doesn't pry any further. Still, a sliver of frustration nestles in her ribcage, not at the missing information but due to a creeping sense of doubt. She's done well so far as a neutral entity - but what if that meant missed opportunities in the future?

Skyler quickly squashes any further thoughts, and shrugs.

"I thought it would be something of the kind. Just..." A pause, silver growing dark with memories of two separate conflicts. "Warn the civilians, if you can." She was aware that Sootopolis - including its citizens - had shifted its loyalties.

"I've caught a few anti-League conversations in the docks in Lilycove." It could mean nothing, but the idea that her home city, Lilycove, would become another Sootopolis sends chills down her spine.

When she turns her eyes to the sea, it's to catch the rare sight of a purple Lapras, lazying around in the shallows. Slightly dazed, she has one of her Wailord Water Spout it. Its cries of surprise are cut short as Skyler throws a pokeball at it.

Holy shit.
