The mist grows thicker by the moment thanks to Reiner's wild charge and proves useful to both Reiner and Eris as the key was easily snatched by their flawless team work. However Mr. Rime wouldn't be out done so easily. He slams his cane into the floor, creating a coat of ice on the floor making it extremely slippery. [break][break]

Reiner may be gone with the key but Eris was still within eyeshot so Mr. rime slammed his cane onto the floor and ice began to sprawl around and create a thin slick sheet that made it difficult for Reiner or Eris to traverse. On top of that a strange psychic energy leaked from the red ball on Mr. Rime's stomach that made Eris feel weightless as she was suddenly launched over to behind Mr. Rime as he waited for the mist to disappear and find Reiner. [break][break]

"Woah, a dirty move there Mr. Rime, what exactly are you up to?" she said curiously as she watched on from her raised stage. As it seemed like Mr. Rime spoke to Reiner directly and offered him a deal. He'd release Eris if he gave Mr. Rime the key and let him get away. [break][break]

How much did Reiner mean to eris? How much did this challenge mean to her? Was there a clear answer? Melody certainly thought so but was ready to see whatever decision Reiner made.

Still, Eris can't help but yelp at the mysterious force that tugs her away without warning, barely giving her any time to react. There's no doubt that Reiner hears her cry but he miraculously manages to show restraint by continuing to hide away. Rushing into danger without a plan could most certainly result in things going even worse.

Her voice will reach no one is what she surmises. From an obstacle course, this challenge has suddenly devolved into a test of morality and bonds. Even then, she fidgets as she floats uncomfortably, still trying to signal to Reiner with seemingly idle movements of her fingers. Whatever choice he makes, she won't be mad at him. In fact, she trusts his judgement completely, for they've been together since birth and the will of one will usually mix with the will of the other.

So when he approaches the Mr Rime with key in maw, she knows his train of thoughts, waiting for the proctor to take the key and begin to skedaddle.

And that would spell the end of their challenge, wouldn't it?

As soon as the psychic hold breaks, Eris grins as her whistle cuts through the stage. Perfectly in sync, Reiner is already halfway committed to his actions. Electricity will always have a chance at catching up with its speed, a Thunder Wave seeking to slow the Mr Rime and electrify the key in his hands, just enough to make him loosen his grip. This time, Reiner has a firm hold on Eris as she swings right on top of him, boldly charging after the pokemon in an attempt to snatch the key once more.

Their bait and switch worked, without a single word spoken between them the two were in such perfect sync in their rhythm. They had their own song, melody had heard it loud and clear. Once Eris was free the music had stopped and melody's voice cut through the silence "That's good enough! I've seen all I need to see!" she says as the walls of the maze begin to shake as they slid down and the concert hall returned to it's original form. [break][break]

The mist from the ice clears and Melody's stage had stairs on it as she extended a hand out towards Eris. [break][break]

"Eris Halla , I think if anything throughout this course you and Reiner have shown a great bond, being able to communicate intent with one another with mere glances and mannerisms." she says as she puts her arms across her chest and smirks at the two. "Although I do hope in an actual situation like that Reiner you'd prioritize Eris's safety over the mission." she says "But then again, I doubt that anyone's words besides hers would make you change your mind." [break][break]

Once Eris was on the stage with the idol, Melody would reach into her back pocket and pull out the Rhythm badge. "Eris! You with out a sound of doubt in my mind have exhibited the traits I wish to see in Hoenn's trainers. Therefore on my authority as a gym leader you have officially earned the Rhythmn badge, do you accept it?" she asked as she awaited for the girl's reply. Mr. Rime joined melody's side and watched the pair with an amused expression on his face.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]The sudden announcement to stop makes Reiner dig his heels into the ground, nearly flinging Eris right off his back as she lets out a sharp yelp. Thankfully, she's had more than enough experience with this to know how to stop herself from getting thrown, just barely but it's enough. The more Melody talks through her verdict, the quieter they are, watching the gym leader with wide eyes and occasionally shooting a quick glance at each other.

Reiner is the first to recover, nudging Eris to take her hand before following her right up the steps. A wide stage means a lot of open space and not much room to hide but for once, there doesn't seem to be anyone else around - Just them and their scrambling thoughts. Even though they kind of fumbled through the challenge, did they actually...?

She clutches onto Reiner's mane just as he wraps his tail around her arm, the words swirling upon the tip of her tongue as she blurts out the first thing that comes to mind.

"Do you carry all your badges in your back pocket or something?" Was it some sort of magical dimensional portal that she could access as long as she had a back pocket? The questions continue to pile up but she's quickly set back on track with a nudge from the Luxray, a small snort causing his nose to flare as he rolls his eyes.

"Oh! Uhm!" Picking at the loose strands of her jacket, Eris rolls her shoulders back and offers a sheepish grin. "Yeah, we do! Thanks for the challenge, Miss Melody!"
