a weedle startles beneath the commotion of her automaton scrambling to join virizion’s chase. it scrambles out of the path of clay feet and disappears into bushes. unfortunately for deus, clay limbs are a little too sluggish to compete with virizion’s speed.

once again, he moves, drifting closer, past her cheek, and whispers into her ear:

heatran can't do much but watch as well. it's too slow to chase after, and it's sure running would just cause the earth to shake. it's content with just watching, though, as it grumbles in delight at the sight of the MAGICAL LEAVES around them.

[attr="class","illie i"]lips linger by the shell of an ear. he whispers and she’s slicing herself desperately trying to put porcelain pieces back together again.

whatever composure she had? gone.

and it’s easy to play a game but this feels… different? is it actually just a game? the thought makes her uneasy.

”sounds like a lie,” she whispers back. it’s an attempt to regain some sense of control.

it feels more like grasping at straws.

the moment, along with the possibility that illie's CUTE CHARM is working wonders, leads him to pull away slightly to leave a kiss on her cheek.

after, he smiles.

[attr="class","illie i"]he begins to pull away. and for a moment, she thanks whatever gods are listening. maybe she won't die of fluster today.

it's really a nice thought but... considered too soon.

a kiss presses against her cheek. it elicits a soft squeak of surprise and she's stunned into silence.

her mouth opens, closes, opens again, and eventually spreads into an affectionate smile.

"it is," comes as an obvious lie now. her expression gives everything away and before she can steer away from her clear fluster, deus is rushing back to the pair.

her head snaps to attention, turning away from matias to stare at the approaching automaton. it lets out a very excited rumble, one she's too familiar with by now. the noise means discovery, fascination, pure bliss.

and a moment later, she's making a similar noise of her own. a coo greets the golurk as it stops beside her. an ivysaur is held gently between clay arms. the grass type stares down at her, tongue slipping out in a blep.

"hi, cuties," she steps away from matias to reach a hand out toward the ivysaur. and to her delight, the ivysaur sticks its tongue out a little farther and licks at her open palm.

her golurk is adorable, that much he realizes as he watches it get excited over an ivysaur. illie is equally adorable, and he can't help but watch the interaction for as long as it lasts, smiling throughout.

his own interaction with the klefki is not as adorable, however, as its PRANKSTER nature means it tries to FOUL PLAY with matias' heatran, who is just not having it. one stomp later, and the klefki's fainted on the ground, and even after it fades into a pokeball, the imprint remains etched in dirt.

"you and your golurk are adorable."

[attr="class","illie i"]her head turns as if forgetting, for a moment, that he was even there. man, this girl and her bulbababies...

her smile is excited and blissful, even as her cheeks flush once more into a shade of embarrassment.

"like mother, like golurk," an amused laugh escapes at her own joke. deus coos in agreement and she laughs a little more, a hand rising to rub circles into the clay of its arms.

"i have a habit of raising my pokemon like babies," she murmurs. "they end up being little mini me's, usually." unfortunately for, perhaps, everyone else.

unfortunately for nikki because when illie's pokemon die, it sure must hurt like a bitch.

"adorable."

speaking of mini versions of them, matias kneels down at the approaching nidoran, extending a hand out for it to sniff. it's usually aggressive in nature, more so when it finally evolves, but this one seems curious, kind.

it's for that reason that he offers it a berry, coaxing it to join his team.

"hello, cutie boo."

she flushes slightly and offers a bright smile. eventually, deus passes the ivysaur off to rejoin its new friends and her arms are now full of a warm little cutie. the ivysaur stares at matias and sticks its tongue out in another blep.

together, they watch as he interacts with a small nidoran. ivysaur is mostly curious but she's all fond and fuzzy over the interaction. something about others being cute with pokemon is just adorable. it hits too hard every time.

"cute," she coos.

in the background, as deus practically hops back over to rejoin the group, a stray crawdaunt darts across the automaton's path. the golurk is quick to swerve to the left and skrrt out of there before it runs over the poor water type. the crawdaunt keeps it moving, hurrying off into the bushes.

the nidoran accepts the berry only to chomp down on it. happy chirps escape the poison-type as it enjoys the sweet juices of the berry.

"cute."

and with that, he boops a pokeball against it, then stands back up.

"i love kanto pokemon in particular."
