Well, luckily Josh had grown up on a Pokemon ranch. So hauling around things across large distances? Child’s play. While Izumi had helped on their own pokemon ranch many times, she had her own ways she preferred to help. Josh had always been more for the heavy lifting, and now? Well, that was certainly coming in handy. Between growing up with this and now doing it into his adult years, doing the same thing on a produce ranch was easy enough.

Izumi had gotten them a trainer’s gig of farmwork for one reason or another though, so if she complained, she only had herself to blame. Hopefully someone could get a fire going soon.

Josh meanwhile had hauled a pumpkin onto his shoulder, while Zackary rode on the other shoulder, squealing with laughter all the while.

Thread: Cozy by the fire

Well if a farmer's tan was what she was looking for, this was certainly one way to do it. "Well, Pokemon can grow larger than this, and we have an entire ranch full of Pokemon we raise. I don't see how this is any different" Josh reasoned with a shrug. He had assigned his Typhlosion, Inferno, to getting a fire going to keep the lot of them warm while they worked. And that happened to be where Lyra had gone off to, occupied with watching the Typhlosion light the fireplace. "Izumi, can you make sure Lyra doesn't get too close to the fire?" Josh called to Izumi as he finished moving the pumpkins.

Zackary meanwhile would be given two little pumpkins to carry when they got back, once he was off Josh's shoulder. A good test for the little guy, and a chance to make him feel like he was helping. Two more large pumpkins went on Josh's shoulders then, as he tried to get it down more efficiently.

Well, it seemed at least the Typhlosion were keeping Lyra company, and hopefully out of harm, for the time being. That was a relief. So with that, Josh got back to work. Casually checking out his wife from behind as she bent over to haul up a medium-sized pumpkin, he made a whistling noise to alert her to his mischief before moving on, keeping it all subtle so the kids didn't catch on. Not that they would anyway, given their age.

"Apparently there's apricorn trees around they want us to pick as well. Maybe we can get the kids on that?" he called to Izumi as he finished another haul of pumpkins. His shoulders were getting sore anyway, it would be a change of pace to show the kids how to pick apricorns.

Hey, hey he was subtle! Not about the whistle, but they wouldn't know what that means! "They're smaller bushes, dear. Similar to berry bushes, this go around. They should be able to pick them just fine!" he called back. Now both Zack and Lyra were being chased around by the Typhlosion as the Pokemon had successfully gotten the fire going. Well, at least now nobody would be cold. "And you'll be able to pick with them if you want, since there's no fear of heights going for you there" he remarked, sticking his tongue out at her in turn.

With the larger pumpkins squared, as well as some smaller ones on account of Zack's assistance, he was fine to give the kids a little break while he stretched out and considered what to do next. He snuck an obscure little peck on Izumi's forehead as he passed her, with the kids preoccupied it was easy enough.

"I think once the bushes are plucked and we get the last of the pumpkins there, we should be good for awhile."

"Indeed" he brought up as he watched the kids play for a minute. It would be good for them to get a break as well. They couldn't exactly have the kids keep working, or they'd go from seeing it as all a game, to being bored when it became work work. While learning the value of work would be good for them, they were too young to push too much at the moment. So long as they kept it fun though, and let them rest and play around without a care in the world, it would be fine.

Soon enough, the evening came and they would wrap up. With a family labor day done, it was time to head home with another stamp on the ranger's good deed card.
