Tis’ was indeed the season, and for the season, a feast! While salivating over the idea of all that yummy good, it actually had to be prepared first. But while Izumi was doing her part, it seemed she had lost the tykes. Luckily there were two sides to every marriage. And this side happened to be a big fan of co-parenting.

While Izumi got no answer from Josh, which may raise some concern at first, another voice would give her an answer instead.

“MAGIKARP, USE SPLASH!”

“NO MAGIKARP, SPLASH BIGGER THAN HIS MAGIKARP!”

Josh had indeed found a means of distracting the kids, just outside the window where she could see. It seemed that some Magikarp had found their way onto the ranch’s imported lake. How? He had no idea. But he was going to make the most of it as he called the kids over to see. As a joke, he had recommended the two of them have a mock Pokemon battle with them. Maybe it would inspire growth, if them eating their fill tonight didn't make them grow in a completely different way.

The catch was that the Magikarp only knew Splash. So all they did was splash around, and it was unclear if they heard the kids, but they were splashing around enough to at least keep their attention.

Well, at least the kids didn't seem to mind that at the moment, these Magikarp only knew Splash. Perhaps in some multiverse far out in the nether-scopes, there were Magikarp that could learn Roar of Time or something. But at least this would keep them entertained for a bit, anyway. "Yeah, the Pokemon are squared!" Josh called back. When it came to the Pokemon, Josh was chronically on top of things. Call it force of habit considering the way he had grown up. He usually had the Pokemon squared by the end of the morning in general, so that was easy enough for him.

"How's the spread coming, dear? We almost done? The kids are going to smell that soon and then they'll be clamoring for eats!" he called through the window.

"Oof. Yeah I don't know if I can placate the kids forever when they smell that feast coming!" he called back to her. That wasn't going to be easy. But after a Magikarp had splashed itself high into the air, the kids were quite taken with this and started running around trying to catch it. Josh then had to grab them before they could fall into the lake when the Magikarp started falling towards that way. Sheesh, being a parent was hard work, wasn't it? Always keeping watchful vigil in case they might do Arceus knows what.

And then the smell hit. Soon enough, he had only put them down for a few seconds before they were bothering him about what was for dinner, and if it would be soon. When he said it was soon, they were satisfied with that... For now. As they headed back to trying to find where the Magikarp had landed.

"You're killing me here" he groaned as he tried to think of how in the world he was going to keep these duel hellspawn placated until then. Maybe a leaf pile or something? No, they'd already shuffled those and they'd blown away in the wind as it was. Shoulda collected them for use, but then the kids probably wouldn't be happy when the leaves shriveled up in the winter either. But what if...

Well, he didn't have to wonder for long. A familiar Red Gyarados would pop out of the lake and loose a roar at the intruding Magikarp, causing them to dive underwater. While this Gyarados wasn't cleared by the League for use on the field just yet, it had been moved onto the ranch along with the other Pokemon. What if...

"Hmm... What do you lot think of a ride on a Gyarados' back?" he inquired. It should be safe, and Amblin was there in case either of them fell. He found the Espurr nearby, shadowing the kids.

She was so dramatic, wasn't she? He stuck his tongue out at her in turn. "Yes, I'm sure. He's good with kids, you know that. Just because his face is scary doesn't mean he can't keep the kids busy. And besides, Amblin's here if they fall" he reasoned. So up they went. And that Gyarados ride definitely kept the kids enjoying themselves for awhile. Zack decided to yeet himself off to try and dive down, but Amblin caught him with telekinesis and placed him right back on.

Eventually, the food was done, and there was a feast to be had. And if the kids weren't already dead tired after all that time outside? Well, they sure as hell would be after that meal.
