Killian sighed and lit up another cigarette.

"I wish I knew more." that he had an inkling of Deoxys's motive for being on Earth. A scrap of information so that he might better understand the creature he's hunting.

Gavin presses his lips tight.

"It eats people, and you want to make contact with it."

There's a long pause before Gavin scoffs out a laugh, shaking his head.

"I can't say I blame you. There's power in alliance with what's little understood."

Alliance, not control over, because through Lugia Gavin has learned to see a difference. When he flicks his gaze to her lurking form, her spines drinking the light of the moon, he sees not a pawn but a partner.
