it worked. for a second, at least. she wasn’t sure how much good it’d done, but at least she’d made an effort, right? [break][break]

he was large man. intimidating when he approached, and she became completely engulfed by his shadow. she was quiet, eyeing up at him with less certainty and ease than she had in the past.[break][break]

at his words she felt her mouth run dry. she still said nothing, until he pressed the pokéball into her palm.[break][break]

there was some dissipating level of fear, but also a strange amount of unexpected guilt for having… disappointed him maybe? he’d helped her, and she’d made things worse. [break][break]
