it's an expected question as the two of them are literally walking through a casino. it's crowded and loud, making it the perfect place for criminals to sneak in and take what they want. if only he was a decent pickpocket.

he is a decent gambler, however.

"Can't say I have." Rowan admitted, never having been an establishment such as this before. The two of them weren't at the casino to indulge in games of chance, but there was something appealing about the distraction. Besides, gunpoint wasn't the only way to rob a casino blind.

"Sure, just don't judge me if I fuck up." A small smirk tugged at the corners of his lips, leading them both towards open spots at a nearby table.

the words are spoken for the sole purpose of being a dick. it shows in the way he grins, coughing out a laugh as they make their way towards the blackjack table. the casinos are often divided into sections, each with their own dedicated game.

sighing, he brings a heavy arm around rowan, resting it on his shoulder.

"don't worry, bud, i'll teach ya'. just don't go losing all our money."

it's not even their money. it's rocket's.

niko gives the dealer a small nod of his head before sitting. he pays whatever the buy-in is for the both of them.

"take it easy on my friend here. he's still new to all of this."

"Yeah...I'll keep that in mind." Rowan shrunk slightly as the other man wrapped an arm around him, awkward and uncomfortable. Apparently this Grunt didn't care he was upper management, luckily for them this wasn't the venue to stab him with one of the knives that was obscured by his clothing.

Niko covered the buy-in, which was fortutious considering Rowan didn't know that was a thing in the first place. "So how does this go, Mr. Miyagi?"

technically, niko's not a grunt because noodles put n/a in his mini-profile. don't look at his app, though.

"it depends on the game we're playing, but for blackjack..."

before the round begins, he slides a few chips of his own in, then reaches over to do the same for rowan.

"you put an opening bet in, then after the cards are given, you can raise the bet or whatever."

two cards are distributed to them each. one of the dealer's own is faced up, showing a six.

"goal of the game is to get as close to twenty-one as you can get. jacks, queens, and kings count as ten, and aces can be counted as one or eleven."

"Doesn't seem too difficult." Rowan commented as he watched Niko slide his chips towards the dealer. "You gamble a lot?" He personally didn't have the time or the inclination, unable to see the value of losing your hard earned money to some casino for the slim chance that you'll ever win. Suppose the reward outweighed the risk for most people.

A hand reached forward to scoop up the cards he'd been given, a six and a four. That means he had sixteen total, right? "So what now?"

Niko wasn't as sneaky as they might have thought, perceptive amber eyes watching as they took a peak at his cards. Not that Rowan necessarily cared one way or another, he wasn't worried about winning or losing money on this endeavor, there was enough to spare. "Alright, I'll do that, then." He awkwardly looked towards the dealer for a moment before realizing there was a phrase he'd heard before.

"Uh, hit me?" Rowan took a stab, assuming this was anything like the movies.

Rowan accepted the card from the dealer, glancing at Niko in an attempt to gauge their reaction to the card they'd gotten placed. "So, how are you enjoying the job so far?" He was forced to speak in broad strokes and generalities considering their current setting, but he was responsible for the grunts of the organization now and he wanted to gauge their loyalties and competencies at large whenever he could. "Hit me."
