"Can we?" Playing along makes it easier to her to quell the anxiety that swells up within her chest, buys her time to think of a proper escape plan for the future without adding more hoops for her to leap through.

Who knows? Maybe exploring this area would prove mindlessly fun, a callback to when her mother had promised to take her traversing over the tallest mountains and widest deserts. If they were lucky, they would find fragments of untold stories, mystery gifts from the past that remained unopened to this day. Perhaps, they'd even encounter creatures that were only talked about in legends.

It's this thought that makes her frown a little, bite her bottom lip and turn her gaze to the sands blown about by wind. If things had been a little different, if Rocket hadn't laid a hand on Kanto, if she hadn't been taken in by them all this time, would she have been standing here with a family that truly loved and cared for her? What would her mother have done in a situation like this? What would her father have tried to warn them against?

AS THEY FLY, they notice that the grasses are a little bit thinner in the direction they are heading. However, it's faint. In fact, it is more difficult to discern from the height they are using to fly, and so, to properly identify this odd phenomena, they would need to hover closer to the ground.
