[attr=class,bulk][break]Having finally become a full fledged member of the rangers, Derek came to find himself garnering the interest of Senon Game. Unusual sightings and the like in a farm residing somewhere along route 119 had warranted their arrival, the owner of the field hoping they would soon identify the perpetrator(s). Maybe Derek was just here to shadow and learn, or perhaps he would prove of use. Either way, he was sure the head ranger was glad to get away from his desk.

Wearing the ranger beret with the emblem for the rank of cadet, Derek kept the jacket tied around his waist, allowing a subtle farmer's tan to begin setting in. Looking to his superior as they maneuvered the field in search of the crop circles, he couldn't help but question. "This the first time you've heard of something like this in Hoenn?"

He had a desk? He did have a desk, and a office; damn.

It was so easy to forget; offices were for Laurence Anderson and for after hours meetings with cait alfric .

He did all his administrating in the field.

Take Hoffman for example; young, capable, starting to show he wouldn't settle for being ignored or forgotten or passive. He even called the Head Ranger out to check these crop-symbols. A little push further and he'd be ready for some real responsibility among the rangers.

Their sector of the league got far on initiative if they were competent everywhere else.

"This region is a madhouse, or funhouse." Of course now that they were here, getting the answers would need a little more than initiative. "I'm convinced Hoenn as little as five years ago was wildly different than the perfect storm of anomalies we have now."

"Even before all this madness Hoenn was different from our corner of the world." As citizens of the twin regions, culturally speaking Hoffman was his Johtonian cousin.

While not the only thing to blame, the idea of tapping into spatial travel would never come off as a prospective positive. Not to Derek, anyway. Space wasn't a human domain, but that of a legendary pokemon. To garner it's attention definitely wouldn't bode well for those involved, or caught in the crossfire.

"But it's also got some of the same problems from home." Namely Rocket, which his cousin from Kanto was more than familiar with. Perhaps they should've tried to nip that one in the bud sooner. But before anything further can be thought or said on that, Derek steps out to see a portion of flattened crops.

"...Well, I guess I see why it's such a problem." The aerial view from the picture they looked at wasn't exactly much to go off of. But being on the ground, in person...yeah. Something big or powerful or both was needed to cover this much land. For dozens of yards, something laid low the field they currently stood upon. "What do you think could do this?" Something like an Onix, Steelix or something of the sort certainly could. But the impressions on the earth and plants was a little too gentle for a lungering behemoth to be the culprit.

"My guess would be some kind of ghost or psychic type." Hoff was probably thinking the same thing he was; the markings while grand in scale, were too precise and clean to be the work of natural occurrences.

They were manufacured in some capacity but outside of which application of Psychic or Ghost/hex power could do this, the bigger question was 'Why'.

"Pokémon don't really do this kind of thing without a reason though." So if he had to order Tsukuyomi to make some creepy ass symbols in the corn stalks, what point would it serve? "You got any flyers Hoffman? Take some wings and get a real time view from up top." If he'd studied the recon photo's to compare from, taking another view on-site could open up some leads or some points of interest.

If there were any leads to find in the first place.

"Will do." A pokeball is grabbed from it's holster, releasing a Corviknight next to him. Derek allows it to bring him well above the ground, where his eyes can see the general shape once more. This time, unlike the photo, something is glowing on the far end from them. "Hey - You see that over there?" His hand points for Senon, who would be able to look for himself.

The bird in the air seemed to provoke whatever it was. The form of the thing glowing with light grew, and eventually shot out towards them, causing his pokemon to mega-evolve underneath him. "The fuck?!" He didn't even have it's mega stone on him. What the hell can do that without a stone?

Alarming. He'd only seen mega-evolution done in the wake of crisis and high stakes in which the power called forward was a turn of the tide.

Or in relatively low stakes in which the change in power was still performed at will and in a relatively controlled environment and circumstance.

Hoffman hadn't willed it and looked as bewildered as he himself did. "Hoff!" Somewhere between impressed and alarmed his hand ghosted over a pokéball ready to call his go-to psychic to the field in the event one of his own was thrown from the mount.

Plucking it from his belt his instinct gave him the foresight and gave Hoffman the time, to settle the matter on his own.
