For all his chasing, all of his keen-eyed searching, sometimes the smallest things can slip through Angelo’s fingers. [break][break]

Namely daylight.[break][break]

Thankfully, he’s prepared for such circumstances when the sun begins to sink beyond the horizon and he’s traversed too far to make it back home before night falls. Reckless Angelo could be but when it came to piloting, there was certain things to avoid, lest he wish to wind up dead. [break][break]

Besides, camping was a fond pastime – a familiar routine. [break][break]

After having found a stretch of sand to beach the plane on, Angelo sets about radioing back home and setting up camp beneath the dwindling light. The first of the steadily aligning stars beginning to shyly reveal themselves. [break][break]

Today’s camp is a basic affair. [break][break]

Firewood is gathered, kindling expertly packed and lit with a smooth strike of his thumb against his old, reliable dented zippo. With a nonchalant thump his duffel bag is dropped in the sand without concern for the belongings inside, his pillow for the night. [break][break]

The cast iron skillet is thankfully removed prior to the back of his head hitting the makeshift bedding.[break][break]

“It’s going to sting you.” Reclined on his back, leg folded atop a raised knee as a makeshift book rest, Angelo doesn’t look up from his slowly evolving penmanship. His warning, monotone like an unconcerned father, drifting down the beach with the scent of freshly caught fish cooking in the skillet. [break][break]

Latias hovers just the slightest too close to an irritated looking Mareanie, curious. [break][break]

Lips curl slyly in response to a jolt of surprise that suddenly flashes in his mind. Angelo doesn't need to look up to know she'd flown out of the way of a poison sting.[break][break]

Their bellies now full, beneath the amber glow of the campfire Angelo tucks his map away in his breast pocket and reclines. It’s too dark to add details now, instead his attention becomes captivated by the endless expanse above – tracing constellations with a roving eye. [break][break]

“Y’know you don’t have to stay if you want to get going…” Warm eyes suddenly blink down at him, blocking his view of the stars as the dragon hovers above him not unlike a floating wisp, awaiting him to take it in his palms. [break][break]

The world awaits her. She could fly up and touch the stars that dangle above, carve her adventures in the clouds or chase the splashing Barboach down into the mysterious depths, if she so desired. [break][break]

Latias tilts her head. Not out of intrigue, but acknowledgement instead. An 'I know'.[break][break]

So Angelo takes her face in his hands and squeezes the legendary’s cheeks, ruffling the tufts atop her head with a vigorous shake as one would their resilient Lycanroc. She doesn’t seem to mind, bumping her head against his in mock retribution. [break][break]

“Then get down in front, trouble. You're blocking the view.” [break][break]

Her companionship is always welcome. Precious, even.

It’s when Angelo rises to his feet to stamp out the last of the fire that it casts a shadow over the tiny beach camp. [break][break]

Embers of the extinguished flame sprinkle up, free from gravity to mingle with stars that they’d spent their evening tracing – illuminating the wings of the Noivern that blends into the velvet sky. [break][break]

It seems wary of Latias when it lands but she does not extend the same reaction, simply watching with large amber eyes as the fellow dragon noses towards the empty pan.[break][break]

“These aren’t going to fill you up,” with a yawn, Angelo crouches down and flicks the remains of the fish they’d eaten in the Noivern’s direction. In response the dragon snatches it up, clearly famished as it crunches on the bones with a vice jaw. [break][break]

Angelo blinks, unintimidated and settles back into the sand. Arms fold behind his head when he reclines against his duffel bag pillow, blue gaze returning to the sky. [break][break]

“If you’re still here in the morning, I’ll catch extra…” He promises on a yawn that entangles in the wishes of a million stars. [break][break]

“You look like a fish for breakfast kind of guy…”
