While Hideo did intend to sing for his part of Eris Halla 's birthday, that wasn't the only thing he intended to do; every birthday had to have gifts. And he could recall a few times where she seemed to like flowers, so he'd set his mind on those as a gift.

Granted, he didn't know much about what kinds of flowers Eris liked. Or about flowers in general. He didn't know if there were any she wanted or if there were kinds he shouldn't get for a birthday, let alone how pretty the flowers would look.

But that was what flower shops were for, right? And he found one when walking around Lilycove, so why not take the chance while he waited for his gym applications to be accepted?

He walked inside, accompanied by his shiny Gardevoir - she was most fit to help him make a choice regarding flowers. Though he knew he was going to need some assistance. "Help me find someone that can help us pick something out," he quietly asked his Gardevoir.

She nodded, leading him along to the first employee they could find.

Who the Gardevoir finds is not, in fact, an employee of the Lilycove florist shop. It is a young woman overlooking the flower displays, taking notes on colour and health. More than likely, the shops all over Hoenn partner with an lend a hand to their fellows, and given that Ophelia lives in Lilycove, her days off are spent at the local flower shops. It seems she can't get enough of working even when she didn't have to.

And so, when a beautiful blue Gardevoir brushes against her arm to grab her attention, Filly is over the moon thrilled to be of service. Her attention sweeps over the friendly Pokemon to the young man nearby. He was quite cute with his shaggy brown hair and striped sweater. He looked warm, even if he were wearing shorts and the like.

"Hello.. you aren't lost, are you? It seems that your Gardevoir has come to fetch me for you. Is everything alright?"

The adorably warm Hideo followed his Gardevoir along, towards what he could only guess was a person; Dancer hadn't told him if that was the case, though once he heard that voice, he knew his Gardevoir found someone.

He immediately assumed this lady was an employee here.

"No, nothing's wrong," he said with a smile, moving in front of his Gardevoir. "I'm not lost, though I do need help, if you're free."

She probably was, if she had the time to help.

"I've got a friend whose birthday’s coming up, and I want to get her some flowers. But I dunno what flowers would be good to give for a birthday."

Oh, what a charming little boy.

She smiles in response, hers widening in the bask of his own. He moves in front of his Gardevoir and with such confidence and ease that she still has not yet picked up on his disability. Oblivious, Ophelia beams down at him and she nods in response to his request.

"Of course! What is it that you need help with?"

Naturally, he elaborates just as she asks.

"Oh! That is so sweet of you to do. Hmm.. do you know what colours she likes? Perhaps you should choose one that she wears often?"

There was a brief pause as a stone-faced Hideo tried to think about how to answer that question. Of course he didn't know what color clothes Eris Halla tended to wear - and it wasn't something he ever considered important to know.

But now there was a very important reason to know, and he felt dumb for not finding it out sooner.

He turned to his Gardevoir, speaking to her in a low voice. "Dancer, you've seen Eris before, right?"

She nodded, accompanied with a Telepathic confirmation. "Can you point out what color she wears?"

Another nod, this time with the Gardevoir looking around. Her eyes settled on a set of Red Begonias, and she pointed at them for the woman to see - with Hideo getting the Telepathic message she'd found that right color.

"That color," Hideo said. Admittedly, he didn't know if it was a good color of flower to give someone, but it could work.

Ophelia, for a moment, is confused by his redirection question. The girl glances from him to the Gardevoir, and only after a second of pondering does she realize how naive she has been. She blushes, though she realizes that Hideo wouldn't see it.

Though his words are spoken softly, probably so that she wouldn't be able to hear, she can see his lips move and can interpret the meaning. He's being discreet, but she's being awkward. Her blush intensifies, but she nods toward the pair and follows the direction of the Gardevoir's hand.

"Oh! Red, okay. And... hmm.." she pauses to think, leaning in to smell the begonias. "What would you say she smells like? Is there anything here that smells a bit like her, or makes you think of her?"

By now, Ophelia is thinking of what sort of bouquet to build.

Red. Hideo was a little familiar with that color: Roses were red, as he heard, but so was blood. And his Krookodile was red.

And most importantly, Eris wore red. "Yeah, red," he added. "I'm pretty sure she wears it a lot." Though beyond that, he really didn't know how she dressed.

But as for the next question, Hideo paused, putting a hand under his chin. "What she smells like?" he parroted, trying to recall. He'd never really thought about it until now, in part because most of the times they'd met, they were in big groups with other sensations taking his attention.

He really wished he could forget what a pile of decomposing bodies smelled like.

Although there was one time it was just him and Eris - the time when they'd decided on doing a joint-birthday.

"I don't really know what she smells like, but I do remember one time we met and talked a lot was by a beach. The water smelled really salty, and she likes skipping stones, so maybe something that means the sea could work?"

Were there any red flowers that could cover that?
