Typically, she'd say that she was well equipped for many types of situations.

But going through the mountains, escorting a stubborn Delibird with its heavy sack of gifts? Well, Evelyn would admit she wasn't that equipped.

She was used to working inside, in environments that she could control. Out here, there was nothing stopping her from being attacked from a hungry Beartic or an angry Abomasnow.

The thought made her shiver under her coat as she approached the bottom of the mountain with her unhappy-looking Gengar in tow. Evelyn's Zoroark at least seemed somewhat okay, given his fur.

The Delibird seemed to squawk at her appearance with the scary-looking Pokemon, its eyes flicking between the two of them. Evelyn tried to offer a smile, though it bordered annoyance.

"They're here to help protect you. They won't hurt you."

Normally, Rowan wouldn’t have brought Mistral since he was a handful on the best of days, but they needed the exercise. The Prinplup usually spent most days watching television and binging on snacks like a teenager often would, meaning they were starting to get chunky. “Come on, it’s only a few more yards.” Evelyn could hear the annoyed trills and squacks of the Prinplup before she saw them heading over the ridge, practically being dragged by their trainer at this point.

“Oh, you’re already here. Sorry for the wait, I’ve been dealing with…this.” Mistral shot a hateful glare towards Rowan, puffing out their cheeks with an angry pout. “I’m ready to go when you are.” A small wave was cast towards the Delibird, letting them know he was friendly and prepared to help.

Evelyn turned her head as she heard footsteps in the snow, a distinct crunching noise that announced someone's appearance.

Well... and a dragging sound too. As though someone was tugging something through the piles of snow elevating as the clouds continued to precipitate down. She raised her brows, spotting a man and... his Pokemon?

“Then you know exactly how annoying they can be.” The words were said poignantly towards Mistral, returning the sentiment with a series of defiant squawks and trills. Rowan sighed and turned his attention towards the Delibird, gesturing towards the path ahead with a hand. “After you, then.” The Delibird nodded and scooped up their sack, trodding along through the snow along the intended path.

“I’m Rowan, by the way.” He spoke to Evelyn once more, offering a courteous smile. “This ball of sunshine here is Mistral.” The Prinplup pretended to not be listening, keeping their gaze forward but occasionally glancing at them from the corner of their eye.

“Too long.” Rowan chuckled, shooting a glance towards the pouting Prinplup. “We’ve been together since I was in secondary school, Mistral was a gift from my mother.” The one thing she’d done right when it came to raising him, an event that he thanked Arceus for each day, despite how annoying they could be. “He didn’t evolve until recently though, ended up going through it during my gym challenge against Melody Miro .”

A hand ruffled the head feathers of the Prinplup once more, getting a series of irritated trills in return. “Won me the battle, and the badge, didn’t you?”
