Is she a geologist or a scientist? Not even the slightest bit, Nia is just a woman who tends to lose herself within the adventure stories from a book and has a strong desire to relive that adventure on her own. Nia has been trying to venture further and further within the labyrinth-like maze Shoal Cave but she always finds herself stopping within a distance - Not confident enough to go deeper on her own. With that said, Nia finds an accomplice - Someone who can boost her confidence to venture deeper and that someone can be anyone. Nia hangs around on the cave entrance for a while hoping for someone else to stumble there and then she can invite them. If there is none, she could ask random Rocket to accompany her.

Mars is no stranger to Shoal Cave, for he has ventured into its depths a few times in the past. On each occasion, he has had a reason and a purpose for it, and this time is certainly no different from that.

He’s no man of science, but artifacts? Treasures? Things of value? That’s a language the banker can certainly speak, and it sparks his curiosity enough to make his way to Mossdeep City the moment he has a few hours to spare in his ever so busy schedule.

What will he find? Who knows, but what he definitely didn’t expect was to run into someone he recognizes outside of Shoal Cave. Still, he smiles at her.

From afar, Nia notices a figure approaching the cave. Nia tries to tiptoeing to give herself an illusion that she would able to see clearly by doing so. As the figure finally gets closer and closer to the point where she can actually see him, Nia finally recognizes the man as someone who is unfortunate enough to get some pelt from her by a backstabbing action back in the Snowboy competition. "Yep, we do" Nia affirms her question with a cheery nod, not because she is happy to reunite with the man but the fact that now she has a companion to delve further. "You can call me Nia. You are Mars, right? Or was it Matias? Sorry, I met a lot of people that day so I still probably mix up people's name" Nia confess with a glance toward the cold cave that they are going to venture.

"Hey, since you are here. I am assuming that you want to inspect this natural refrigerator right? Two heads are better than one, don't you think" Nia points at the cave, nudging a proposal for them to go in together.

Since apparently most people in Hoenn just can’t do Spanish pronunciations right. Still, would Nia recognize del Mar as the surname of one of Rocket’s admins? Maybe yes, maybe no. The names of Rocket’s higher ups are no secret for the grand majority of the organization (for the most part), but of course, the public has no idea who they are (once again, for the most part).

Mars, for example, is known as a rich businessman who sometimes is very charitable with his wealth.

”Oh, you’re heading in too? Sure, it’s always nice to have a partner in crime, no?” These words come with a playful smirk, and once they’re said, he walks past the entrance to the cave.

The name rang some bell within the mind of the woman and then a lightbulb of her mind shines bright awakening a recollection of memories. The identity of the higher-ups, information that has been embedded within. While she knows the name of the higher-ups but faces alluded to her and this was her first proper meeting with the Rocket Admin. "I should have made an inkling before. Now I do feel inadequate momentarily." Nia sheepishly laughs at the predicament that she is facing right now but quickly shifts her own mood.

"It is for my own self-interest, I supposed. Not much of an archeologist nor a scientist but I do love the sense of adventuring that I can feel from venturing deep inside the cave" Nia starts to walk, following the man not too far from him. "I have been venturing the cave for a while now but not too far since I deem it would be risky if I go alone. Oh yeah," Nia exclaims, trying to find something from her backpack. A thermos appears and Nia hands it to Mars, "It ain't much but hot tea is great at a temperature like this. I have a fruitcake on my backpack we can eat later, it has wine in it so it can warm us up" Nia tells him.

Recognition brings a change in his companion’s demeanor, but Mars shows no surprise at the way she reacts. It’s something that happens often enough, after all, and the only thing he wonders is if she recognizes him from his wealth and business endeavours or from his role as Rocket admin.

His smile is both calm and confident when he reassures the woman, a small nod being given as he listens to her reasons for being at this place. Self-interest, just like him. Maybe they could get along after all.

"Not really worried there, I am not really used to a hierarchical system. It feels... outdated." Nia commented regarding what he perceived her as being worried about. "Well, I couldn't straightly say that hierarchy system is an obsolete system as it has shown that it works in different many occasion - A stiff yet flexible system. A lot of studies praises this kind of system but from the recent trend of studies - It gradually shifted from an old hierarchy system into an agile development environment" Nia suddenly blabber about the piece of information that she pertains over spending her time reading books back on her library. Then she suddenly went silent for a moment.

"I started talking about books again, didn't I?" Nia asks with full of self-awareness after realizing the off tangent earlier. "What we were talking about earlier? Oh yeah... the fruitcakes!" Nia exclaims remembering what he asked earlier. "Nah, I barely able to cook. I know a lot of recipes though but I can't cook or never actually try it. The fruitcake is made by my mama" Nia answers with a smile, "Mama is a great cook - She loves cooking while hum..." Before she is able to finish her sentence, she suddenly slips not realizing that there is a small slope downward on where she walked.

"...bug!" Out of surprise, she utters a nonsensical word. She doesn't know what a 'humbug' is but she can't help herself to chuckle remembering a certain fictional character in the book. Fortunately, the slope isn't that deep and she fell right onto a pile of snow that cushioned her fall. "I am, okay! In hindsight, I should have watch my step"

As he listens to the silver-haired woman suddenly rant about hierarchies and how a more flexible system could be better, Mars can’t help but laugh, because if didn’t come here expecting to run into anyone, he sure also didn’t expect to have someone give him a lecture about Team Rocket’s structure and how it should change because it’s “outdated”.

”I don’t think we can afford to get rid of our hierarchy when some apparently don’t even pay much attention to it or respect it.” He teases playfully with a smirk, an eyebrow being quirked. ”But, I agree, gradual change should happen in any organization. Adapting to the times is fundamental for survival.”

So, apparently Nia here is an idealist, and one that really likes to read, at that.

”Oh, your mum made it? That’s really sw–”

Sweet, but he doesn’t get a chance to say it. For, just as he’s saying these words, Nia stumbles and falls, thankfully upon a pile of snow and not the hard and dangerous ice that begins to overtake the cavern the farther and farther they walk. Once he’s sure she’s not seriously hurt, it’s with a faint smile that he offers a hand to help her up.

Nia is not entirely sure if it is due to the fall or not but Mahiro comes out from her Pokeball and stares at her trainer who is sitting on the pile of snow. Nia shrugs it off and stands up but once she stood up, Mahiro suddenly lets out a laughter voice, Nia tries to look around but all she sees is that Mahiro is pointing at her butt. Curious, she takes a picture of her own behind and notices that the snow cling to her butt and form a snow mustache on it. Nia snickers when she realized it, now she has two faces one is on the top and the other is on the bottom. Sadly, she can't keep it and pat it away and back to Mars.

Nia is going to take Mars's hand until Mahiro suddenly tugs the edge of her pants and point in a direction. Nia looks in the direction and noticed a passage that the entrance is blocked by hardened ice. "Mars, you probably want to go down here. I find something interesting" Nia told Mars as she gets closer to the ice and it is really hard and no sign of it ever being broken. She tries to fit her body through the crevice but can't - Even with her relatively slim figure, she is still not able to pass the crevice. "Mahiro, use METAL CLAW," Nia asks Mahiro before Mahiro slashes the ice with a metal claw. It manages to scratch the surface but it is not broken. Nia ponders.

"Mars, do you happen to have a fire-type Pokemon with you?" Nia asks her partner trying to think the easy way out first before thinking to a more unconventional method.

If only for a moment, Mars watches his spelunking companion, wondering what she’s doing when she starts taking pictures. He would ask, but it has become clear that Nia can apparently be very easy to distract, and there’s really no point in derailing her further with something meaningless like that.

Instead, he turns his attention to the wall of ice.

”You’re right, I bet there could be something good behind it.”
[break][break]
Some treasure of nature granted to them by the cave, perhaps? Or, did someone come to hide their valuable positions and did so behind layers of frost. As a banker, Mars would never understand people like that, but if he can take their treasures for himself because he found them in a cave, then they can go on and keep hiding things as much as they like.

Reaching into one of the pockets of his parka, he calls out a Delphox, a FIRE BLAST easily melting the ice that had seemed almost impregnable until now.

Fortunately, Mars has the right pokemon for the job. The ice pillar starts to melt away revealing a gaping entrance to a smaller cave within a cave. Nia takes the lead and makes an entrance to see that it is just a single pathway without any branches road and at the end, Nia found herself in a rather huge area. "A dead-end" Nia makes a remark of her founding but her eyes remain on a single spot where she saw a head of a familiar Pokemon, a head of an Eiscue. Nia gulps seeing a beheaded pokemon but when she tries to get closer she lets out a sigh of relief - It is not an actual head of an Eiscue, it's just a block of ice that is carved with an Eiscue face.

"That's weird" Nia ponder feeling a little bit off. It is too 'square' to be something natural and the carve is clearly manmade.
