The fall knocks the breath from her and for a moment Luka just lays there, limp until her lungs inflate once again. Eventually she squirms a little on the ice, trying to push herself up, though it only seems to make things worse. With a huff she falls back again, starfishing while the children laugh at them and Cian takes the bait.[break][break]

"Stop that," she scolds with a grin, reaching up and around to flick him on the forehead. "You're just as bad as them!"[break][break]

His next statement earns another quiet huff. Of course he doesn't mind it. Luka makes for quite the comfortable cushion: soft and warm, an inviting pillow for one to lay their head. Pinkened cheeks puff out again as she starts to squirm in earnest.[break][break]

"C-come on, we can't just lay here forever! It's cold." The whine in her voice is exaggerated, but it gets the point across.

carefully, he begins to squirm as well, slowly untangling himself from her before trying his best to get to his feet. he slips and slides but makes it up in the end.

he offers her his hand.

Perhaps from someone else, the question would be laced with a hint of mischief. But with Luka, it’s almost painfully earnest. As she takes Cian’s hand she does her best not to pull him down with her, and after a bit of staggering and stumbling manages to right herself properly.[break][break]

“There! See, we got this.” [break][break]

She’s still holding his hand. Warmth leeches through her gloves and into her palms. [break][break]

“But, um…m-maybe we should keep holding on. For balance.”

coming from luka, it definitely does sound painfully earnest, so much so taht he dips his head in a nod and smiles, not protesting.

still holding onto her hand, he watches her right herself, then waddles a bit closer to her.

"we should! yeah. this feels nice."

the warmth, he means.

"wanna try and at least get a lap in?"

they had fallen not long after they started, after all.

“One lap,” Luka agrees. “We got our fall out of the way already, so now it’s smooooth sailing!”[break][break]

She squeezes Cian’s hand as they start to inch forward on wobbling legs. The same gaggle of children passes them with ease, pointing and laughing. This time, Luka can’t help but stick her tongue out at their retreating backs.[break][break]

“They’re just jealous that they don’t look cool and mature like we do,” she huffs. “Come on, come on! Let’s go faster!”[break][break]

She tugs at Cian’s hand insistently as they pick up a little bit of speed, enough to take a few gliding steps. One, two, three…Luka turns to him, beaming, and then immediately trips over a bump in the ice and almost sends them crashing down again.

if only he'd held his tongue for a few more moments then maybe they would've been spared additional embarrassment. but he's soon tugged back down onto the ice as luka trips over.

"you know, i think maybe skating isn't for us."

he laughs as they continue sliding across, momentum not quite slowing just yet.

"wanna call it quits and grab ice cream or something?"
