Melody stomps her foot in protest of mars taunting her. She didn't know why she was getting so upset BUT HE WAS SO GOOD AT ACTING SMUG THAT SHE COULDN'T STAND IT. She almost screeched but she kept her cool just barely. "REEEE" [break][break]

But as Rilaboom's encore continued, melody was prepped for the teeter dance this time "NOT SO FAST!" she shouts as she snaps her fingers towards oricorio "Taunt her! Quickly!" she ordered as rilaboom began to say enough swears and slurs that it'd make a sailor blush to prevent the teeter dancing. [break][break]

She looked over to her Ludicolo and gave him his order too, he did a little spin and continued to spin in place "Hydro pump! let it last!" she said as ludicolo began to unleash wave after wave of hydro pump towards mars's team.

Is Melody Miro about to throw a tantrum? It sure looks that way. Mars would be amused by the whole thing, if it weren’t for the fact that in all of her talent, the gym leader is still somehow capable of impeccably giving her pokémon commands even while clearly upset. That sure has to be a talent of its own, no?

The thought that crosses Mars’ mind when hearing her order a TAUNT is along the lines of: Oh, you bitch.

In a good and respectful way, obviously.

”Damn, a status move that bypasses Safeguard? Good choice… Cash! Quick! Distract Pyrr!”

At first, the Oricorio is confused by both Mars’ orders and the curses spoken by the Rillaboom, but before he even has a chance to process the insults, something hits him right on the head… and again, and again. It’s the shining gold amulets of a Meowth’s PAY DAY, thrown towards him one-handedly by Cash Money because with her other hand she holds firmly onto the SUBSTITUTE plushie behind which she hides from the oncoming HYDRO PUMP.

The Meowth plushie behings to tear, its now wet stuffing revealing itself.

And the Oricorio?

Successfully distracted from the Rillaboom’s taunting, it retaliates in the way only an Oricorio would… by angrily DANCING.

Melody and her pokemon stared at Oricorio. [break][break]

She could understand her emotions, the move taunt was a very unpleasant one. "What did you say to her??" she asked her rilaboom who looked at melody and kind of just shrugged at her, they were gonna need to talk later as this was not the first incident. [break][break]

Regardless, Mar's strategy of meowth blocking for Oricorio was a good idea, the substitute was still active and so he had mouth block it for her oricorio who was currently nerfed by the taunt it seemed. "Mars...did you not teach your oricorio any attack moves?" she asked curiously as the most devious grin was painted across her face. [break][break]

Seemed like his team was now clipped at the knees, cash had to compensate for his partner. But maybe their rhythm was good enough to survive the onslaught coming their way? Wait, he got her mind off of the taunt? With payday?! "That was quick thinking, but I could just do it again ya know?" she grinned, but she had no intention too, the more times she did it the less successful it could be on oricorio "Drum beating! Nature power!" she ordered as the attacks flew towards Mar's pokemon, this time aimed right towards meowth, nature power began to transform and shift into a tri attack, firing three seperate orbs. [break][break]

Thankfully safe guard would protect from any status effects accompanying the move.

Don’t moveset bash, Melody.” He’s obviously joking, as made clear by the grin that very much mirrors hers, a light chuckle leaving him before his attention returns to the battle unfolding before them. ”Plus, that it doesn’t know its own attack moves doesn’t mean it can’t copy those of your pokémon. Right, Pyrr?”

There’s a wink and the Oricorio knows what to do then, MIRROR MOVE being used to send its own TRI ATTACK to counter that created by the Ludicolo, orb crashing against one another in three separate explosions of sparks.

The DRUM BEATING takes care of what’s left of the SUBSTITUTE, and while this doesn’t really please Cash Money, her approach to retaliating is to distract the Rillaboom.

”Meow meow, meow meow meow, meow! Meow meow, meow.” She goes, winking in what could only be taken as a use of ATTRACT just like she had done before.

Melody watches as the attacks collide with one another and created a beautiful explosion of colors, it sent melody's pokemon flying backwards from their spot. Thankfully it didn't cause damage to them but if it did melody wouldn't count it anyways since they were defending. [break][break]

However as melody was going to give her next set of orders, her gardevoir cuts in and teleports her pokemon to her side. Melody is shocked by their sudden dissapearance and looks over to gardevoir "Dancer what the heck did yo-" she said as she realized the song had just ended. [break][break]

"Oh. The song's over already?!" she said shocked "Damn, you really managed to suck me into that performance of yours Mars." she tells him as she steps down from her stage and recalls her pokemon into their respective pokeballs. [break][break]

She reaches into her back pocket and pulls out her gym badge. "So, martín. You and your pokemon have been shown to have your own rhythmn and managed to survive the onslaught of my music and attacks with your own style of battle and your bond with them both, and so on my authority as the Sootopolis gym leader I present you with the rhythm badge. Do you accept?" she asks as she holds it out for him to take from the palm of her hand.

To be entirely honest, Mars also hadn’t been paying attention to the music, so much so that when Melody’s Gardevoir appears, he’s just as surprised as the gym leader.

Mars? Surprised? A rarity.

”Ha… Damn, that’s a shame. It was a pretty fun battle.”
[break][break]
Which also says a lot, since gym challenges are rarely something he cares much for.

He crouches down in order to give his Oricorio a small high five and pet Cash Money, then recalling the bird and allowing the Meowth to climb up onto his shoulders. It’s only then that he approaches Melody, smiling at her as he takes the hand that’s holding out the badge in a sort of handshake.

”Thanks for the battle, Melody. We should hang out again sometime… Maybe next time we can do the dancing, hm?”

Fun as a battle may be, that sort of thing will always be more his speed.
