Stormy throws up her hands, trying to stop her. [break][break]

"W-well it's not that he doesn't like me. He does. I'm just not sure he thinks of me as anything more than a kid sister. I could be misreading what's happening between us."[break][break]

She blushes furiously, hanging her head in shame and embarrassment. Her love life had never been incredibly successful. Her hotheaded personality and sharp wit was a turn off for most men she found interesting. She like to be in control, not be controlled.[break][break]

"N-no.. I really haven't. It's been a little bit harder to find the energy to get up and look nice in the morning when everyone's looking at my crippled leg instead anyway."[break][break]

She sighs, clearly put off by this. Her eyes glance up to see Cait's face as the woman places her hands on her shoulders. [break][break]

"Thanks, Cait. It.. it means a lot."[break][break]

The conversation has changed now, shifting to a even less pleasant one. Shock seems to ripple across her face as she thinks about the question.[break][break]

"I had a battle a couple of weeks ago, before my mission to rescue Dahlia. I visited the Sootolpolis dragon training estate and met Miss Morningstar. We had a brief battle with Charmeleon and her little.. yellow dragon-thing. It was adorable."[break][break]

Otherwise, though, she hadn't been involved in much else.[break][break]

"That's about it though, until the mission. But I wouldn't call that battling so much as.. fighting to survive."[break][break]

Sadness lingers in her eyes as she thinks briefly of her deceased Torkoal. It still hurts to think about.

"even a little practice goes a long way."

cait whistled and her granbull stood upon her hind paws, a determined gleam in her eye.

"i've been putting my own pokemon through the wringer lately," she admitted. "i've retired a handful for a few reasons, but the majority are managing well enough."

she gave another whistle, this one pitched differently. her pokemon's ears twitched in response to the sound before she obediently returned to her previously seated position.

"training helps," she said. "but i'm sure you'll be ready by the time you take your seat."

the woman reached for one of capsules, but stopped just short of plucking from her belt loop.

"i've actually been taking in quite a few pokemon, lately," she said. "most having been confiscated from rockets or local pokemills."

cait gestured toward her granbull, a hint of sadness coloring her tone.

"that's where granbull here comes from - a mill. i think she even had a few litters taken from her before she was rescued. i'm thankful she ended up alright. quite a few of the pokemon the league rescues come with a lot of behavioral issues."

Stormy nods, affirming Cait's statement. She's right - and in those couple of brief training sessions, Stormy has started to regain her confidence. Granted, her battle with Freya had been before her rescue mission, and before her spirit had been crushed under Fernando's iron fist.. but still.[break][break]

The effort had been there.[break][break]

She watched in awe as Cait whistled at her Granbull, as it sat up and laid down at her beck and call. It was so obedient, she was almost envious.[break][break]

"That's great, Cait. Maybe I should stop by sooner or later so you can help me train some of my new Pokemon."[break][break]

Her gaze shifts to Cait as the woman continues to speak, and she smiles in response to her comment.[break][break]

"I appreciate the confidence in me, Cait. Maybe you'll rub off on me some day. You've put me on quite a pedestal."[break][break]

Stormy winks, before blinking in surprise and admiration. She's not really surprised that Cait has increased her numbers, but she's definitely impressed that she's managed to juggle so many tasks. [break][break]

"Me too, actually. Charmeleon has evolved into a Charizard now. I've recently come into a whole assortment of new fire-types as well. As usual they're a handful to train, but it's honestly exhilarating seeing them in action. They're amazing."[break][break]

Though she glances down sadly at the Granbull, kneeling in front of the beast to hold it's head in her hands. She strokes the top of her head gently, scratching her behind the ears affectionately.[break][break]

"The league has given me a couple of similar cases, Pokemon who have been recovered from dead or taken hostage Rockets. I suppose that's why some of them are so difficult to gentle, they've only known suffering."[break][break]

She sighs, giving the Granbull an affectionate pat before standing back up straight.

cait considered a solution to stormy's problem - and could find none at that moment. it was, at the very least, good to hear that she was improving when it came to battle; that particular obstacle needing to be conquered prior to her taking over lavaridge.

'she won't need my help before long.'

stormy would be standing on her own without too much support in good time. though the grass-type expert feared that they'd grow apart because of it, especially since there was quite a bit of work to be done in their respective cities.

"i'm going to miss us just being ordinary run-of-the-mill league members," she admitted. "it's hard to believe that it hasn't been that long since we did our first mission toget - ."

her phone buzzed insistently within the confines of her pocket and cait released a quiet huff.

"and there's my alarm."

she'd silence it with a frown.

"i have to head out, stormy," she said, stuffing the device back into her pocket. "i wish i could stay a little while longer but i've got to start heading back to mauville."

cait offered up a quick and affectionate hug before bidding the ranger farewell.

"i'll text you so we can figure out when to head to the springs, alright?"

the girl turned away, reluctantly parting with her friend as she veered her focus toward returning home.
