Yet it wasn’t as easy as going from point A to point B to point A; there was always the risk of wild Pokemon running about, and there was no immediate way of knowing which would be peaceful and which were ready for a fight. The Pokemon in this area were particularly labile, so Hideo had to make sure he was properly prepared, hence the two Pokemon accompanying him.

However, was there really much threat in an Igglybuff?

His Ariados thought so; when one came into sight and approached them, she shot a String Shot at the little thing, tying it down so it couldn’t bounce any closer. It wasn’t like she was leaving it there until it starved, though; the web would only hold for a couple minutes, and by then, the group would be long gone.

Igglybuff successfully subdued, the group continued their trek without a pause. That speedy String Shot send a message to any other Pokemon that had been observing them: don't get in our way. Not the exact message Hideo would've wanted to send, but it did bring them peace for a good part of their journey.

Broken only by a Turtwig who mixed up bravery with foolishness, approaching the trio. It stood there, ready to battle - and got smacked to the side by the Lycanroc's Tough Claws for its trouble.

But rather than lie down in defeat, it got back up, shouting its cry as it tried to reach the Lycanroc and Bite him. Unfortunately, it found itself caught by a String Shot, stumbling to the ground as its legs were tied up.

But its efforts didn't go unnoticed; hearing its cry, Hideo could tell it was a Pokemon he didn't have already. And one couldn't have enough variety at their disposal.

Even if he barely brought anything with him, he always made sure to have some spare Pokeballs on him, just for these occasions.
