Anyone who spent the past decade in Johto probably heard of the classic child-star-turned-disaster Amber "Lenoir" Berry. Once the cutesy darling of soda commercials with a sweet Eevee in her arms, Amber Berry had captured hearts in movies, TV shows, heartwarming modeling shoots, and Pokemon contests. The reality, however, was a bleak existence as the only daughter of a narcissistic pageant mom that isolated Amber from others, teaching her that life was a competition: one that you had to win to put bread on the table and a roof over your head.[break][break]
Upon reaching adolescence, Amber had a mental break and successfully emancipated from her controlling mother. Changing her name from Berry to "Lenoir," she had sudden access to the full breadth of her fame, wealth and influence, and the result was a predictable descent into debauchery, vice, and poor financial decisions. Taking on a rebellious image with her newly evolved Umbreon, she cultivated a team of Dark-type Pokemon who joined her in her photoshoots, and her fans christened themselves as "Amber's Hellhounds."[break][break]
When money ran low, Amber discovered a surefire way to earn it back was to start a scandal. So long as people were talking about her, she could pay her bills. This questionable strategy has so far worked, though fame is a fleeting, fragile thing, and Amber knows she must invest in something other than being the media diva of the week. So to Hoenn she went, to strengthen her Pokemon team and start anew.

Plenty of people despise Amber, and for good reason. She is a poor role model for the children that once idolized her wholesome persona; she is self-absorbed, vain, and reckless, which makes her obliviously cruel. However, Amber's hatreds are as shallow as her attentions. She is easily jealous of others who have media attention she doesn't. She's impatient and often quick to irritate, but forgets about those irritations just as swiftly. The most lingering hatred in her heart is for her mother, who turned her into the attention-seeking monster she is today.

Amber is so in love with herself it's difficult for her to love anyone else. The satured image she cultivates for social media is as artificial as her relationships, which are mostly scheduled photo-ops with other A- or B-listers. She is, however, desperately lonely even if she doesn't realize it. Her hunger for attention is kept at bay by the media's frenzy, but it is fake and based on who the world believes she is, rather than the person she is inside. Only one person, to date, has seen that side of Amber. Perhaps no one else ever will.
