Thomas thought it was a good a day as ever to train his Meltan. And while he was at it, he knew of someone else who had a Meltan in his possession. Sending an invitation to Josh a few days before the fact, he would take the time in between to set things up. He would make sure that the area he intended to train in was clear of both workers and Pokemon. Not only to keep the nature of his training under wraps, but to protect anyone from getting hurt. To aid in this, Kuma Lisa would cast an Illusion over the area to obfuscate the training grounds.

Thomas waited outside the training area for Josh to arrive. Thomas was dressed in a dark gray hoodie, a pair of workout pants, and sneakers. Clearly, he was planning on some training of his own, and hoped that Josh would be ready for this, as well.

Josh had been quite upset when the cute little Meltan had formed into Melmetal, and then been killed in the ensuing scuffle. He would have happily taken one or more of the cute little guys into his care if he could. So he was more than happy when one of the eggs they found had hatched into a Meltan. Having taken an egg as well, Josh wasn’t surprised to learn that Thomas had one.

Of course, Thomas had asked to keep his a secret, so he obliged. But keeping it a secret made training harder. So he supposed it made sense to call him in to assist with that. And Josh wanted to train his Meltan as well, so it worked out.

Arriving at the meeting place in sweats, especially seeing as Verdanturf was so close to Lavaridge, he would wave to Thomas upon seeing him. Lightning walked at his side, while his as of yet unnamed Meltan would cling to his shoulder. But as he got closer, he squinted.

“Did you always have both eyes?” He inquired. “And were they always red?”

Thomas waved to Josh upon seeing him.

"Prosthetic. All that money I've been hoarding over the years has really paid off.", he told Josh. "And my natural eye has a red contact lens in there, to match the prosthetic. Couldn't get it in green.", he told his old friend.

He would beckon the blonde to follow him into the training area. He would notice another Meltan was already standing at one of the platforms. The range they were on consisted of stationary targets hooked up to machines that would retract them. Of course, given what this was intended to train, it wasn't just contact-based with bullseyes. These were bare metal targets.

The Meltan would notice another Meltan present, and give a chipper cry and a wave to its fellow Meltan.

"First exercise is simple. This is where I have my Pokemon train with Electric-type attacks. I take it your Meltan has Thunder Shock?", he inquired, signaling to Meltan to give a demonstration.

The Meltan would fire a weak blast of electricity at one of the nearby targets. The electricity would power the machine it was attached to, causing the target to retract.

"Simple enough, a type of shooting range where they work on firing their Thunder Shocks quickly.", he'd explain to Josh. "Have your Meltan stand on the other platform, and we can begin.", he told Josh.

Once everyone was ready, Thomas blew into a whistle. Meltan was already blasting targets with Thunder Shock. It was going nearest to furthest. And while it doing well enough, it was clear that it had only recently begun its training, and was still working on its aim and speed.

A prosthetic, huh? Interesting. He stared at it for a moment with a curious eye. Apparently he couldn’t get it in green, though? “I suppose it makes sense to wear contacts if one of them is stuck that way. You can’t put a green contact on the prosthetic I assume?” he inquired curiously. As they headed into the training area, he smiled as he saw the other Meltan. His Meltan meanwhile, climbed off his shoulder to meet it, seeming to consider it a friend immediately.

“I haven’t had much chance to see what moves it has” he admitted as he watched Thomas go to work with his Meltan. Watching it use Thunder Shock made him wonder if his could do the same. He nodded his head to the instruction as he looked to Meltan, who was watching this with a big wide eye. After a few moments of watching the other Meltan shoot things, Josh’s Meltan looked to him as if to ask to try it too. He nodded his head and motioned to the platform. Quickly, Meltan would climb up and begin shooting as though this were just a big game.

"No, unfortunately.", he told Josh, in response to putting in a green contact lens on the prosthetic.

Thomas watched the two Meltan interact. Their immediate friendship was adorable, if expected. After all, they fused to make a Melmetal before it was broken down in battle.

"Welp, good thing we can try it out here, rather than in the wild.", he would tell Josh, in response to his statement.

Thomas couldn't get over how playful the Meltan were in how they conducted themselves. Watching them treat the shock range as a game was adorable. And frankly, par for the course, at least for his own Meltan. He would allow them to carry on with the game for another five minutes or so, before blowing the whistle, and having them stop.

"Next up is the flying target range.", Thomas told the group. His own Meltan hopped off the platform, and allowed himself to be scooped up by Thomas, before the Kalosian would walk over to the shooting range.

Said shooting range was no different to skeet shooting. A target would be launched into the air with a machine, and the Meltan would blast it down with their Flash Cannon. But this time, there were four launchers set up, and a pair of rifles waiting for Thomas and Josh.

"Care to try your aim?", Thomas inquired, as he grabbed his own rifle, and was ready to hand Josh the other one.

Whether or not he cared to do so, once both Meltan took their places, Thomas blew a whistle, signaling the start of the activity.

Meltan's aim was something that had to be worked on, for sure. But it was something the little guy kept chipping away at, undeterred by the targets he missed. Meanwhile, Thomas' aim, befitting of an International Police veteran, and someone trained by an assassin since ten, was on point, blasting the targets out of the air with precision and speed.

“Shame” he agreed when Thomas noted that no, there was no way to just make the prosthetic eye green. That was weird, wasn’t it? The Meltan got along quite quickly and easily, he noted. And it made him smile as it warmed his heart. Josh nodded his head in agreement as Thomas brought up that it was better they learn in a shooting range instead of the wild. He watched for several minutes as both Meltan would launch Thundershock at the targets. Josh’s Meltan would take some time to get the aim right, but it had begun improving by the time Thomas called for them to stop. Josh’s Meltan would hop off the platform and onto his shoulder as Thomas led them to the next obstacle.

Flying targets this time. Interesting. “I’m not all that experienced with these” Josh admitted as he was handed a rifle, but he at least knew how to use one as part of his training.

The targets flew. Josh fired. Meltan fired. Both missed. But the next came and Josh hit it. Meltan missed, but didn’t seem to mind. Still, seeing the others hit theirs inspired his Meltan to focus, and it hit the third.

Over time, the Meltan's aim was improving. It was slight, but it was able to hit more targets than not. Pieces of clay would rain over the field before them. Those that had been missed would land on the grass, and shatter into various pieces.

Once time was up, Thomas blew his whistle again, signaling his own Meltan to stop. As with before, Meltan would hop off of his pedestal, and allow Thomas to collect him. He would put his rifle where he grabbed it, motioning for Josh to place it with his.

"One last course.", Thomas told them, heading towards a sort of batting range. Four 'cannons' loaded with baseballs were placed along the area, each with their own lane. Thomas' Meltan would head to his own.

"So here, Meltan bat back baseballs with Headbutts.", Thomas explained to Josh. He might also notice that the cannon's barrel could pivot in different directions. Thomas would hit a button, causing a ball to fire at his Meltan, slightly to the left. The Meltan's liquid metal body would shift over to meet it, timing a Headbutt to strike the ball, and bat it back.

"Care to work your defense?", Thomas asked Josh, getting into one of the lanes himself. "If you'd feel more comfortable, I've got some gear that should fit you in the shed.", he continue.

Whatever he decided, Thomas would blow into the whistle, starting the activity. Thomas, given his years of training and experience, had no trouble in blocking and deflecting the baseballs. Meltan would have the least amount of trouble with this activity, given its phisiology allowed him to meet the different angles with ease.

The Meltan learned quickly. Throughout the course of this training montage, Josh watched as his Meltan would become more accurate with each shot. While it considered this a game, one couldn’t deny the skill that came with its precise shots. The question was, how long could they keep it up? How far could they go? Perhaps this next course would tell all.

Thomas really had an in-depth training facility didn’t he? It was giving Josh all sorts of ideas for things he could do himself. Perhaps something underneath the homestead. He had once thought of making a small battle arena down there, after all.

Thomas’ Meltan set the tone, sending a ball back with Headbutt. Josh declined a set of armor. This, he was trained for. His honed reflexes allowed him to bat the projectiles away with relative ease, while Meltan watched. Before long, Meltan wanted to play too, and would begin to follow the example of the others.

For five minutes, the exercise went on. The Meltan would be able to keep up with the balls, for the most part. Occasionally, a ball would sail past the Meltan, but it wouldn't let that get to them. It would just keep on trucking, doing its best to keep up.

Eventually, time elapsed, and the balls stopped. Thomas went over to a cooler, offering Josh a bottle of water, and grabbing some scrap metal for both Meltan to feast on. Thomas' Meltan excitedly took in its pile of scrap.

"Good session.", Thomas told the blonde, after downing a sizable portion of the bottle. "You got any other business today, or you want to drink for a bit?", Thomas offered.
