as for the question itself, fernando lets it set in. there is no right answer and knowing this he sits on it. lets it cook with a purposeful pause.

fernando’s smile is matching. pleased, polite. but somewhere in there is a glimmer of slyness. it sticks out with a smoothness that can only be matched by an oiled greaseball. it drips with sleeziness.

a verbal distancing filled with modesty.

“all i’ve done is made sure those that call rustboro their home don’t need to uproot themselves by moving ot mauville.”

he pauses, grimacing.

“unless they were a part of the subsections that greater mauville holding was able to buy out. unfortunately, i wasn’t quick enough on that end.”

a half-truth. there is purpose behind waiting for oscar clayton to make the first move. if silph co. were to buy out a hoennian household name, the blowback and criticism would be catastrophic. not to mention the fact it was backed by one of hoenn’s key politicians.

however, all that becomes moot when someone else strikes the first blow.

he cracks a small smile. a mild chuckle too.
