| Sunglasses floating to the surface of the water caught Rowan’s attention, drawing his gaze away from the clouds with a curious look behind his amber eyes. “What the…” Soon, a hand appeared from the water, grabbing onto the sunglasses and placing them on their face. “SQUIRTLE!” The Pokémon called out, climbing onto the Lapras as though they owned the place.
Squirtle stepped up to Rowan and held out a hand, apparently holding him up for snacks of some kind. “Nope, you gotta ask nicely.” Rowan chided, causing the Squirtle to grumble with annoyance, clearly used to getting their way.
Still, this was an opportunity. “How about this? I’ll throw it in the air, if you can catch it, you can have it.” An agreement was made, and Rowan tossed a handful of treats above them into the air. While the Squirtle was distracted with the prospect of food, Rowan grabbed one of his empty Pokéballs and lobbed it at their shell, hoping to capture them with the gambit.
