Her visit with her brother, Alexander, had been brief but pleasant. Although she still had many questions for him, she felt it best to leave him to his thoughts and allow him to come back to her when he was ready.[break][break]

In the meantime, however, she had her own business to attend to. If she had plans to become a strong gym leader, she would need to start training more regularly. It doesn't take long for a Pokemon to appear. Now that there aren't as many people traversing the cave, the shyer Pokemon have started to come out to play. [break][break]

Stormy hesitates around the corner as she hears a low groan as if someone had just woken up. When she sees the hulking figure of the Conkeldurr, however, she shies away at the immenseness of the beast. Not only does he look strong, but he looks a little bit irritable.[break][break]

Uttering a soft apology for disturbing his rest, she scurries along, leaving the fighting-type to continue about his day without any more of her interruptions.[break][break]

What she was looking for was not him, so she was going to keep going before it got dark.[break][break]

There's a rumble from beneath her and her blood turns to ice. She pauses, listening intently to the noise, trying to pinpoint where it's coming from, exactly. It stops just long enough to give her false hope - and then the ground falls out from underneath her.[break][break]

She screams in surprise, trying to grab hold of loose rocks and gravel, anything to keep her from going down.[break][break]

Nothing breaks her fall but the cold, solid ground underneath her. She gasps, the wind knocked clean out of her lungs, and she rolls to her side, wheezing.[break][break]

Standing before her is an incredibly irritated Excadrill. It's unlikely that Stormy in particular was the reason he was so aggravated, but the fact that she had been in his way and disrupted his work, he wasn't too thrilled to see her.[break][break]

When she finally got to her feet and caught her breath, she looked up to see the angry, beady eyes of her surprise attacker.[break][break]

She quickly reached for her bag, retrieving Charizard's pokeball. The immense flying-type stretches her wings ill they brush the edges of the cave walls. It's been a while she had been here, she had been much smaller then.[break][break]

"Don't let it escape, but don't use extreme force. I'd like to see if I can train it."[break][break]

Charizard roars, her voice shaking the very confines of the cave. Excadrill doesn't seem at all phazed by this, and instead stands its ground, biding its time. Just as Charizard charges, so does he, throwing himself into a DRILL RUN to collide with her, hard.[break][break]

She's cranked up the heat though, enveloping the two of them in hot flames. Her FIRE SPIN eats away at the Excadrill's steel limbs, causing him to break from his attack and retreat, thinking of something new. [break][break]

The earthquake that follows nearly swallows them all whole. Charizard turns, and Stormy grabs hold of her tail as the dragon uses FIRE FANG to latch onto her opponent and drag it to the mouth of the cave. [break][break]

Stormy tucks and rolls as they break through the entrance, gasping and spitting out dirt. She's alive though, and Charizard is still locked in a fierce battle with the steel mole. The beast is burning from the effects of her fire fang, and uses SWORDS DANCE to try and fend her off.[break][break]

The pain is too much though, and she eventually succumbs to exhaustion. Charizard stands over her, now excited as a puppy to see that she had successfully managed to win.[break][break]

Stormy coughs, brushing hair out of her mouth as she approaches. A quick pat on her companions shoulder is enough to suggest she's proud.[break][break]

"Good girl, you did well. Now let's see if this guy is a team player later down the line, huh?"[break][break]

She tosses a pokeball at it, waiting for the confirmation.[break][break]
